Haskil and Lily Kraus were in my opinion the only pianists who came close to Mozart's intentions. Both had a beautifully transparent sound, using the sustain pedal only where absolutely necessary. Marvelous!
For me, there has never been a more perfect interpreter of Mozart (or indeed, perfect interpreter of everything she played!) than Clara Haskil. Perfect fusion of mind, heart and fingers...thanks for posting this treasurable playing of the great and legendary pianist.
The man holding the umbrella is Pablo Casals, the woman in the middle is Clara, and the man on the far right is Charlie Chaplin. He said that in his life he had met three geniuses: Einstein, Churchill, and Clara Haskil. : )

I never thought I'd hear a better interpretation of this than Alfred Brendel. Clara's is indeed better. Barenboim is not even close.

This is such a beautiful movement! She plays it very wistfully (which is a good thing if you ask me). Thanks for uploading!
