there are so many lies and half truths in sicko it can barley be classified as a documentary. when i saw it, i was outraged, than I looked into it myself, and found that even our ranking is based on a false premise. our ranking as 32nd in the world is based on life expectancy BEFORE we enter hospitals for long term care, once we do we are in the top 95 percentile, while these numbers invert for nations with socialized medicine. people who have money in other nations come here when they need care

Is because on occassion we elect governments that mirror the Republicans in the U.S. They decimate our "Universal" Health Care System. When we kick them out and put in more "Progressive" governments. The stuff he said about Canada is false. When I needed medical attention, I didn't have to wait long at all. Obviously there are times when some people wait long but that isn't widespread. Lack of family doctors usually occurs in more rural areas than in the cities and even then it is still rare. Also, who cares if we pay more taxes - the benefits we recieve in return is outstanding just like how we pay for police and fire services.

I care how much I pay in taxes. The U.S. Declaration of Independence states that all individuals have the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Forcing citizens to pay for everyone else's health care conflicts with those fundamental rights. I am a diabetic and the only person responsible for paying for my health costs is me. As it is for every other individual in the U.S.

First of all, of people have the "right to life" wouldn't that mean that people should be given health-care no matter their race, gender, class etc? Secondly, you pay for police and firefighter services by taxes. Do you also believe you are solely responsible for those costs as well?

No, you misunderstand. These rights were created to secure freedom of thought and action for all Americans, not guarantees from the government. As for police, the role of the government is to protect every citizens rights. As such, police are necessary to do so.

Sorry for the vaguenes, I'm typing from work. Ok, the rights are a guarantee that the government will protect an American citizen from interference of thoughts and actions of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They are not a declaration of services that the government will provide for citizens other than defending our rights. That is what individual liberty means. Health-care is necessary. So is food, so is clothing. But it is every individual's responsibility to provide for themselves.

Okay, I'm not going to debate with you about your American constitution because I'm not too knowledgeable about it and I don't think this YouTube comment boxes can support a detailed discussion. However, you say that Health-care is necessary and police are necessary but health-care should be paid by taxes. Doesn't make sense. Shouldn't you group everything in the same way if you feel the way you feel about everybody pitching in to pay for essensial services?

In order for the U.S. gov't to protect citizen's rights a police force is necessary to enforce the law. But as I previously stated the right to life is a right to thought and action. I can go to any doctor I choose to without interference from the government or other individuals. I have protection from being defrauded by a doctor by those rights. Chaining me to the rest of the country and taking away my freedom of choice violates those rights.

I won't battle against abortions because I'm very much pro-choice. But I see it as one of the many problems with universal health care that it will be up to the gov't to decide what procedures it provides. Anyhow, thanks also for the comments.
