You forget to mention, FDR did this because the America public demanded it. All services by govt were done after the public stood up and demanded it. After the New Deal there was a period economist call the Great Compression b/c it was the first major time (lasts for more then just a few years) that equality rose. I think that was a good period--since Reagan much of that has ceased.

So the only way to get them to do this is to actually start leaving the country. When he withdraws troops, he'll have quick strike forces in nearby countries to prevent genocide, etc.

Wake up. The world is not full of sunshine and lollipops. When you try to control people they lash out. What does consistent fear bring? A loss to our freedoms (that the terrorist hate so much)? I thought a freedom-lover like Bush wouldn't resort to domestic surveillance.

I could care less about surveillance...I have nothing to hide. If you were older, I would use the analogy of your child (I assume you don't have children). If someone kidnapped your mother, brother, sister...u would actually be against surveillance in order to find them?

You forget to mention, FDR did this because the America public demanded it. All services by govt were done after the public stood up and demanded it. After the New Deal there was a period economist call the Great Compression b/c it was the first major time (lasts for more then just a few years) that equality rose. I think that was a good period--since Reagan much of that has ceased.

Most of what Edwards say is generalized "cheerleading" material. However, he has said he wants to increase minimum wage, which will of course increase the cost of most everything. Couple that with his ALREADY promised tax increase for Univ Health Care & the personal bankruptcy courts will bust at the seams.

ytdsmom: Ending the Iraq War will give us plenty of new cash. Progressive taxes (since you probably don't understand basic politics, this means tax the rich at higher levels b/c they can bare it) replenishes funds. And o yeah, Univ Healthcare will help (we currently pay more for it then any other country--including the money spent by govts--b/c when there are millions of plans instead of one, 25% of the money goes to paperwork).

I agree with you for once. Terrorists are people that kill simply to inflict terror or get revenge. A good ex. is timothy Mkvay. Osama Bin Laden and his followers are not terrorists. They are soldiers of the ARMY called radical muslims. People who kill others because of their religion and claim their views should encompass the world are fascists. The war should be called the war against radical Islamic fascism. That at least defines the enemy we are fighting as a country.
