Nice lifting :D I also would like to do competitions but I know nothing about them lol. I weigh 150. are their competitions with that weight class? I have a benchpress video up in my channel if anyone wants to watch ;o
yeah tell me about it, I struggle a lot to lose weight as well, but all you could do is sweat off 2 pounds of water weight, weigh in, then drink it back before competition, or bulk up and compete in the 165 weight class. If your only 2 pounds over I would recommend going for the 148, what can you lift bro? What are your bench, squat and deadlift?
@WeightLifterNerd Well, I never really squat or deadlift too much :( the must I do for deadlift is 235 for ten and squats 225 for six lol. But I can probly max 370, 375 for bench.
thats a really good bench for your size dude, thats about a 2.5 bodyweight bench press, if you competed in local contests you might clean up and maybe even in federation meets, whoever lifts the most pound for pound is the winner. If it was a bench only contest you might surely kill the competition, in most contests i have seen I rarely see people in the 148 and 165 weight class bench 300+. I think you should consider competing at least in the bench press.
@WeightLifterNerd Yea, I'd love to do bench press contests, but I'm so ashamed of my leg strength lol! My upper bodies what does the high weights xD! In my profile I have a video of me benching 315 five times soo I'm not just making up numbers like some people, I have a video to back it up :D
@TehJeremySeff your ur a joke you only can deadlift 235 and squat 225 ??? you would get rapped in a competition and your bench where are you doing this on the moon rofl your a keyboard warrior
why the disrespect to tehjeremyseff? His squats and deadlifts are fine, there nothing spectacular but there not god awful, but one thing for certain is he is one hell of a bencher, he benches more then twice his bodyweight.
@maxis986 This comment is about a year old, I said I could deadlift 235 for 10, not for one rep, learn how to read before you type. You're the keyboard warrior... I never talked tough, idiot.
must be, dave actually is underweight himself, i think the average weight for his height is at least 175-185 pounds, dave has a great build for his height and weight as well, I wish i could be 6 feet, my stomach would probably not be so big at that height, I cannot consume 3000-4000 calories anymore, as a kid I could eat anything but not now, my metabolism isn't what it use to be lol.
I think bulking to the 181-165 class you might be able to get a 300+ bench, and 198-220 class for 405 maybe. If you gain weight the right way anything is possible.
your 6'1 and 149, good god most people at the size are sticks, i had a roomate who was 5'10 at 145 and he was a stick haha. Do you have long limbs like dave?
I think 175-205 would be a much healthier weight, your weight I think is considered underweight for your size I think. Regardless that is still good 260 bench with a tall 6'1 height at 149 pounds, I doubt most people that size can bench there bodyweight!
149 bodyweight dam! Your only 1 pound shy of the 148 weight class, 40 pounds more and you will be doubling your bodyweight dude, lets see the vids already!
First attempt I always go quite light, I usually jump up 20 pounds each attempt, I had only 2 weeks to prepare and I had done 300, 325, and 350 in training, 350 in training was not nearly as easy as it was in this competition, so I thought 355 might be pushing it, and i thought my first and second attempts would drain to much strength. If i would have practiced 355 or 260 in training I may gone for it though.
Yeah I regret not going for 355-360, if I had a 4th attempt I would have went for them. I didn't think 350 would be so easy, I usually go 5 pounds below my max in competition, because ya never know what kind of judge you might get he could give you a 1-2 second pause, although this was touch and go.
That was a great job Jared. Very impressive. I wish i could have went. That 350 looked easy for you. Congrats on the placement. If the biggest bench was 360 for 205-225 I might have taken it. What was the weight below that?
You are 195-205 right? The weight classes were 185-205, 205-225, you would have been in one those classes probably. You probably could have won in either weight class, the guy who benched 360 was 219 pounds, if you would have benched 350 at 206 pounds you would have won because the winner is who ever benchs the most pound for pound.
if you would have competed you would have won first by default in your weight category I think simply because your strong pound for pound and because many people who competed were not 40.
I just posted the the guy who benched the most successfully my friend and sometimes training partner Michael, he benched 370 successfully, another guy in our weight class a tall guy who was 280 pounds did 365 on his first attempt, and tried to bench 405 on his second and third but missed both attempts, probably because he jumped up so drastically. He would have had 385-400. I will be posting the highlights in a different video.
I only took second place in my weight class, not overall. There were some monsters in the 165-185 weight class, there was a guy who benched 335, and the overall winner of the entire competition bench pressed 365 weighing only 185 pounds, nearly double his bodyweight, the overall winner was the guy who had the strongest pound for pound lift.
A guy in the 205-225 class also benched 360, so even in that weight class I still would have taken second place.
Nice crowd too! Ive been to some feds where the crowd wasnt even hardly paying attention! LOL!Its always fun to go to a meet where the craowd is all into it! When i went to 2004 high school nationals the crowd there was great! Always a good time...Did you do full meet, or just bench only?
I put that in the video info, a guy named Michael who i train with sometimes at my gym he has also been in some of my videos spotting me on bench press, put up 370 and missed 385, he weighed 239 pounds, he benched 1.55 over his bodyweight, I benched 1.52 over my bodyweight, so I was close. I will be posting Mike's attempts soon, as he wants the video for himself as well.
the overall winner though was a guy who benched 365 at 185 pound bodyweight! The guy was a beast! He won because he was the only guy there that benched nearly double his bodyweight.
Nice work! Have you been to a sactioned meet b4? This is a fun meet from the looks to it, but have you even been to a meet that belongs to a federation with all the rules and shit? For example, USAPL, APF, APA, IPA and so on and so on? Just curious....That looked great though! Nice work! In powerlifting you would be in the 242's or if you dropped a little wt, the 220's...The wt classes go as gollows: 114, 123, 148, 165, 181, 198, 220, 242, 275, (then it depends on fed) 308, 319, SHW
I have been in 3 local competitions that followed sanction meet rules, pause and everything, one bench press only, and two bench press and deadlifts contests. I posted those contests in my playlist powerlifting meets if you want to check them out, I competed as a 165 pounder in two, and 181 in my third.
yeah I am aware of the weight classes and all, and have been around the 242 class for sometime, I hope to drop back into the 220 class. I had competed the longest as a 165 pounder believe it or not.
I have had no luck finding any big full meets with all 3 lifts, I really want to try a full meet just for fun, I have only had luck finding small local YMCA meets usually that are bench press only or bench press and deadlift, raw and geared as well.
My best bench press is 355 actually, but went with 350 to be safe in this competition, although I often regret not attempting 355-360 on my third attempt, but either way I still would have taken second in my weight class probably.
Nice lifting :D I also would like to do competitions but I know nothing about them lol. I weigh 150. are their competitions with that weight class? I have a benchpress video up in my channel if anyone wants to watch ;o

the weight classes are 148 and 165, you have to weigh exactly that number or below to compete in it.

Strong lifting man that 350 went up easy for you , i think you should of went for one last attempt for 355lb or 360 :)
BIGDADDYJOHNSON27 2 years ago
they only give you 3 attempts, but if I had a 4th I would have definitely gone for 355 or 360.
WeightLifterNerd 2 years ago
you should have on your first attempt went for 315 , 2nd went for 350 and then went for 355 or 360 on your last.
but all in all i bet you felt good after the meet getting 350 :)

how much did the spotter do?
i take it back your 3509 looked easier than mikes 370.s

I don't what the spotter can do, he was only there to spot, he was jacked though, he looks like a 400+ bencher if I had to guess.
