Some dude with an awesome sword, a cute girl in a winter coat, a creepy monster, and a frog creature... Man, i miss old box art. (Think the first megaMan)
What is this song? This is not in Chrono Trigger... I mean, I haven't gotten all dozen endings or however many there are, but I've played this game a LOT.
Doesn't this song play during one of the endigs' credit rolls? An ending with the credits rolling while the camera pans around the Epoch in flight with Mode 7 graphics.
yeah the box is misleading.... Marle is supposed to be wearing a cute little lime green satin outfit, not a purple bathrobe, and she is a little blondie, not a redhead.
The truth with the box art is that Crono is using his Flame Sword tech, and the flames just happen to reach from marle's pointing finger, even though that's just from the trail of fire. Just remember, the box art was finished before the game.
@Virginityrocks I think this track was used in the "extras" portions of the ported versions of the game that came out after the SNES version. Where in the beginning of the game you could look up the encyclopedias of monsters and cutscenes, etc.
@Virginityrocks it was actually in final fantasy chronicles, with ffiv and chrono trigger bundled in. i think its in like the options menu. been som time since i played chrono
@DariusEdge2 No its not. Type this song in followed by DS and you'll hear the difference once you listen. This is actually the PS version which I am trying to get. Its clearer than others that are on YouTube.
@Armedwolf6 In an earlier build of the game, Marle indeed uses fire, and you do fight Heckran in a snowy area that never made it to the released version.
I looked it up; apparently, this is Arc Impulse from the game, a triple tech that utilizes fire. Now, it looks a lot different than this, mind you. I assume they made the box art before thinking of which element would be given to whom.
@Armedwolf6 I don't understand why so many people believe this. This is the triple tech "Arc Impulse" where Frog launches Chrono towards the enemy while Marle enchants his sword on FIRE. The two swordsmen proceed with a vertical X strike.
Here comes my inner CT nerd. That's actually Crono, Marle and Frog doing their triple tech Arc Impulse, or Frost Arc on the DS version. So it's not really fire its flamey yellowey ice magic.
@LYBIceman Holy shit! You're so right. I've been baffled by this for ten+ years, and only now does this finally make sense. Especially with Frog on the ground like that, just like his after Crono jumps off his back. Dude...genius.
@Armedwolf6. Not just that, since when Chrono used glove? What? That's not Marle's in-game clothing. Frog's look stands out for some. And the list goes on.
@Armedwolf6 I remember whenever i first rented this game as a child (Well, mom rented it..), I saw this on the box and always questioned it. All of my friends thought I was just weird.
@Armedwolf6 i know this is 2 years old but i thought id just inform every one. its one of the tech skill its a tech were frog crouches and chrono jumps off his back wile in air marle lights his sword on fire, but you are right still misleading.
Yeah, it's from Final Fantasy Chronicles. In one of the extra menus. I have that version of the game as well as the original. :) (Also, to those who haven't heard yet, Chrono Trigger is coming to the DS!)
I suppose they used the songs that didn't make it to the original version in extras. Looks like they're doing this for CTDS too. The arena theme is going to use the Second battle theme for it's music and Singing Mountain is supposedly going to be used too.
I DO remember this one. It was one of my favorite songs in the game. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross were so amazing and appropriately acclaimed for their music alone. The games themselves, however, were also incredible (some really fond memories were with these games). Mitsuda and Uematsu did such excellent jobs with these (Akira Toriyama rocks, too). :)
You could find this song on the FF Chronicles Extras screens. :] I think it's rather catchy, even if it's not as amazing as songs such as Robo's Theme or Frog's Theme.

Lucca uses fire, not Marle.

Marle casts blue & red flames as part of the Arc Impulse Triple tech between Crono, Frog & Herself. Use it in-game and you'll see.
