@bertskoi She'd have been 46, and the way all American women punched out kids pre - 1970, it's quite possible that a 40 something woman in 1972 could very well have children under the age of 10 in bed.
Heavens to Murgatroid! What a gret clip! Though I thought the name of the instant coffee the late great Ms Neal did a commerical for was called "High Point"...both brand on longer seem to be around. Perhaps she did commericals for both during her long career. THANKS for posting! Always a joy to see the beautiful & talented Ms Neal!!! :-)
"But more important...my husband thinks so too." YECH! In older commercials like this one women were always so subservient to men. And by the way, her husband was Roald Dahl a first-class SOB. He left her for the production assistant who helped Neal chose clothes to wear in these coffee commericials!
@cynthiacher yes, I was thinking the same thing, after she said that line about "my husband", I thought of Dahl. What a prick! LOL, of course, maybe if she'd actually made a pot of fresh coffee for him and not served him that nasty-ass instant coffee, he might have stuck around! :-)
Had more than her share of tragedies in the early to mid sixties, one of which was suffering three brain aneurysms while pregnant. Had to relearn how to speak and walk.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Neal on a cold day, quite a few years ago, when she was at the "Chiller Theater" convention in Secaucus. She was an outside tent with other notable celebrities...and I warmed her hands, that's how cold it was. She was a NICE woman...what more can you say?
Children in bed? What was she 60 then?
