ryan is a great drummer. and i love all of his work with devin. but(being a drummer), i knew that he would have to lay back on this song, with his double kicks, and his blast beats a little. its just quite hard to keep up with dirks drumming. he's kind of a machine haha

@OmniumAtmosphere Give him a couple more years touring with the DTP, I'm sure he'll develop his style in a direction more suited to how the songs were originally recorded. But he isn't an extreme metal drummer, he's way more groove oriented, which is more about an emphasis on note placement.

Indeed, you can see this the way he plays Dirk's blazing blast-beats... He clearly isn't used to playing that fast. No stamina nor technique. But otherwise very nice playing!

That one BD note on top of each offbeat snarehit makes a huge difference to the feel. The right foot (main) is always skipping one 8th while the left foot (secondary) is constantly playing 8th notes, creating illusion of leading.
