  • o yeh.. good vid man. pretty informative!

  • ahhhh heel toe.. that's how they do those beats so easily.. >XD

  • you should say bullshit a few times like FPS Russia! lol good vid though bro!

  • i know 22 people that are jealous!!

  • YEAAAA MEINL CYMBALS

  • how do you get your bass drum to sound like that?

  • @dodobrain6424 It's triggered, so he selected a sample that sounded good.

  • 15:35 It will be very very strange, unless you are a monkey LOL

  • but i have got the DW 4002 pedal and i do 220bpm

  • Switch to tricks and refuse to play any other brand

  • Thanks man! I love the video! Have you ever played Trick double pedals? I think you would like them because they are direct drive, lighter, in the same price range as axis pedals, and have a much better design. I had the opportunity to play two single axis longboard pedals and two single trick longboard pedals and the quality, adjustability, and lighter feel of the trick pedals makes them so much better. So if you ever get the opportunity to try them do it. Because I've seen quite a few players

  • Did you make a collab' with Hetriani? O_o

  • @MonsterizeMe Yes, I did ;) Master of Puppets it is!

  • @Ensiferumftw That rox! I've got an Hetriani T-shirt and hat 'cuz I was the second winner at his "logo contest" x)

  • Do you think that the new Tama pedal (Speed Cobra) can be compared to your Axis?

  • @Agge96redhot I don't think so, as it still is a chain drive pedal.. They will eventually come with a direct drive I think, otherwise the real speed beasts just won't buy their pedals anymore.

  • Slipknot drummer is faster;)

  • @linusboy2011 Soilwork's / Scarve's drummer is even faster ;)

Faster is not always better. It's all about technique and groove. Speed can come in as a good trick, but it's not what drumming is about. Joey Jordison has a lot of speed, and a decent technique, but almost no groove. Soilwork's drummer puts a lot of groove and feeling in a kind of metal that you would not expect to contain groove, which makes it way more pleasant to listen to. Not that I do not like Slipknot's music :)

  • @BrandenburgStudios Oh it's not what drumming is about?? What if the drummer was trying to be original, huh??? HAHAHAHA HYPOCRITE HA HA HA

  • @turoniner No it's just the truth. And being able to play at extreme speeds was very original, in the beginning. But now it's kinda starting to get boring. So being able to GROOVE at those speeds, and with those speeds, THAT'S original. What Joey Jordison definitly does not do. And Dirk Verbeuren of Scarve / Soilwork DOES do. And that's what makes Dirk a very original drummer, but not Joey. Not saying Joey is bad, it's a very good drummer imo, but Dirk is just progressed further

  • @BrandenburgStudios HAHA if groove is so important then why is it cool for some douche to take a jack-off ten minute bass solo?? You're full of it, buddy. Enjoy your little fantasy world!!

  • hey!i would really appreciate a response, but i have been playing double bass pedal for about 2 weeks now,and i have no improvement, the only way i can keep a beat,a slow one at that,is lifting both of my legs up and hitting the pedal hard, and then if i try to use just my ankle and heel,i feel like i have to lean forward and side to side, and my feet are size 13 and very wide could that be an issue?

  • you are my god

  • With all due respect, I don't understand why you didn't just get a microphone stand to hold the microphone for you, so you could do a few more demonstrations:)

But this helped a lot anyway, thanks!

  • Great video, you're a beast! I really appreciate the good quality of the tutorial as well as the great video quality.

  • The part where he says "Of course you can do it with your fingers. But apparently with your feet, it would be very, very strange, unless you are a monkey." made me laugh soooooo hard!!!

  • @TheStinnMann Thanks a lot man, I have been thinking for weeks to come up with that!

  • @Ensiferumftw Dude i met dave haley from psycroptic hes a beast he explained to me how to do his blast beats and stuff super cool!!!

  • hey man please reply to this! i have pearl p902 powershifter double pedal, and the tension in my left pedal is a little looser than my right, ive tried everything and i cant get it tighter or as tight as my left! what do i do, can i still play brutal fast? i can play, atm, a little slower than the double bass in "in waves" by trivium?

  • @kakashi11213 Hey, that's strange, left should go as tight as right. Well, you should always be able to reach a decent speed, you have no big limitation on that. Keep practicing.

  • @Ensiferumftw hey firs toff thanks for replying man, unlike a lot of other people who do tutorials! and just a few minutes ago i tgithened them, i think they went as tight as my right, more or less the same anyway, i tested with the beaters! ill just keep playing everyday and hope i get faster eventually haha, thanks for this bro!

  • Future Chris Adler right here.

  • i dint understand why chain pedals are not gd for speed!

  • czarciekopyto >>>>>>>>google it and check this pedals ! theyre amazing much betetr than tricks and rest tof the stuff on the market ....small workshop production...

  • Comment removed

  • how tight (or loose) should my pedals be so i can play fast?

  • @Globalcashcookie As tight as it will go ;)

  • Comment removed

  • I love being euroean xD

  • Mooie pedalen, is dat de A of de X serie?

  • your explaination was very enlightful, thanks dude! all the best

  • all meinl cymbals?

  • "It will be very, very strange, unless you are a monkey."

  • wow awesome!

  • 9:32

  • WOOOO PLAYING REALLY FAST! >_>

  • I can hear the bass drum rather well at 180bpm but I need to hit really hard and that cannot be done for a long period of time. Triggers are really useful for over 150bpm and for fast bursts.

  • triggers arent the only way to get the sound your looking for. very good micing and some heavy attack on the beater does the trick nicely i found that doing 16th's at 200 sounded freakin awesome and no triggers were needed. maybe i just hit it harder. for me triggers seem like a lazy way to get the sound easily as long as you get the speed and control. but sadly you miss out on all the little nuances and subtle changes in sound that really show your skill.

  • what's your setting for your Alesis DM 4?

  • Do you think that the DW 9000 is able to play in that speed ?

  • @ZimzeLimze Every pedal is able but longboards like axis and the demon drive are more ideal for the job.

  • Fucking brilliant!

  • 15:15 .. unless you are a monkey :D

  • Your bass drum sounds amazing

  • @Hisroyaljazzness they are triggered

  • Which triggers are you using and can you recommend them?

  • A Noisy Bassy Buzz.XD

  • Cool video dude. By the way, nice hair!

  • ...unless you are a monkey :D

  • is it just me but is there a troll face in the snare

  • i could play faster if i was born in Europe.... and thats a fact

  • Hey man. What kind of triggers do you use? and what model? Thank You.

  • Triggers are artificial, anyways great vid.

  • Hey man! nice videos... I have a question.... which and how many things do you use to muffle your bass drum? i have some troubles with my triggerin... thanks! :D cheers from MEXICO :)

  • Yeees you have seen much Videos...

  • I like the swing recoil on your pedals.

  • Comment removed

  • where are you from?

  • if all you people care about is playing fast then your not worthy of being a drummer, its about control and rhythm, speed isnt worth anything.

  • @Moshinmysocks Well, if you don't care about playing fast double bass, how the crap did you come to see this video? In my opinion brutal death metal without speed would be a little boring...

  • @Ensiferumftw speed comes eventually but u need to cant drum properlly without control and rythym as the person above says. u cant run before u learn to walk...

  • @Ensiferumftw yeah, brutal death metal without speed is like sex without a boner... screw him, good tutorial bro! :D

  • @Ensiferumftw hey how do you go so fast but still have so much power? i can go like just as fast as you but its so soft you cant hear.

  • @USMCplusMETAL Triggers

  • @Moshinmysocks then why on earth are you here if speed isn't worth anything? just to be an asshole and tell people they're not worthy just because they wanna play faster than they already can?

  • @Moshinmysocks hmm, and would'nt it require more skill to aplly more speed to this control and rythm you're speaking so very higly about??

If you have control and rythm, the next step would naturally be to try to play faster while maintaining the control and rythm.

I think it's really annoying when these narrowly sighted people try to talk big about that speed isn't everything.. well nobody say it is either!

  • @pelsmann I agree with you completely.

  • @Moshinmysocks thats because you cant play fast and you prolly suck.

  • @Moshinmysocks

Judging by your condescending tone I'd bet most drummers aren't just faster than you.

Ever stop to think that maybe the guys who care enough about drumming to hone their technique also play more than one genre?

  • @Moshinmysocks Its for a different genre asshole

  • @Moshinmysocks please explain to me how you can play really fast without control?...

  • @Moshinmysocks So Buddy Rich isn't a worthy drummer?

  • @Moshinmysocks Damn right! Speed is nothing when compared to a nice groove. While I do agree that Death Metal would be boring without it I also say that most metal drummers are close minded and only focus on speed.

  • @Moshinmysocks But you can't play fast... WITHOUT CONTROL AND RHYTHM!

  • @jean704050 I don't really see what you mean there. Send me a PM with an example of that ;)

  • @Ensiferumftw He means a double hit on the ride, followed by a snare. A really good example is the chorus of Foo Fighters' "Rope" =)

  • @jean704050 As far as I know he plays all that with one pedal indeed. Not that fast though, but it does the job :)

  • your cute i think I'm in love :P

  • What brand of drums are those? Tama? What model? Thank you! Axis pedals?

  • I lived in Germany for a few years and I thought when I left California I considered myself an awesome drummer, then I met my wife's brother and was just Floored by the talent there. (I hate them LOL) and even the ones considered mediocre smoke. Incredible hand / foot speed and technique, not just playing fast but When and where it fits. I came home with my tail between, hell my tail was gone ;-)

  • How do you place your hi-hat pedal right next to the left bass drum pedal?

  • can you tell me when your next video is and how to get your toms deep sounding, but tight enough so you can double stick roll on it reallyfast

  • thanks it helped me a lot !:D

  • unless ur a Monkey

    haha best part =))

  • what kind of double bass pedal is that?? it sounds great with your bass drum

  • YO! awesome!

  • 'the serious shit' xD

  • THANKS alot guy !!! i started playing drum 5 years ago, but without full time cause of studies and stuff and i was very awfull at double bass..., then i saw your video and i bought my own double bass (cause i was playing on a friend one), now i m jamming since july on it, and the dream is becoming true, i was just able to go at 130 bpm ..and now i can go on some triplets at 170(heel up), or 220 triplets but by doing heel toe !! so once again ! thanks !!

  • FUCK YEAH MEINL!

  • heres my lesson on fast double bass. buy axis pedals adjust the shit out of them till their super easy to get hits out of and are only 3 inches away from the head and get some triggers. you welcome everyone.

  • @TheRadrussian1 It's true nice pedals help. I myself use axis. I know that many metal drummers including myself like tight spring tension because the pedal responds faster and a for triggers. They are just a helping hand for metal drummers :)

  • @xanthofficial word. ive always been agains them but now im thinking about getting some.. idanno yet tho. i hate the sound. they sound so unnatural.

  • They are called hex keys in english

  • Dude yout in persistence right? I saw you some times ago in bremmen...this was just amazing!

  • @MileIotecrew Hey dude! That's true, that was a nice evening on the boat :D

  • @Ensiferumftw haha indeed :D

  • how do you get such a good bass drum sound, do you use triggers?

  • @Sharpshooter226 Dude.. 8.20

  • @Ensiferumftw Hello Mate, I'm also curious as to how you get such an awesome sound, could you please explainw hat 8.20 means? ..or if you do use these 'triggers' (Not quite sure what they are!)

  • @2moony1 I mean look in the video at the time 8:20, cause it is explained.

  • Hahaha jij bent nederlands eh?

ik zag een keer een ding bij marktplaats van jou

    ik herkende je drumstel :D

  • @kijkenify Dat klopt, de drumschool gaat alleen helaas door omstandigheden niet door ;) Gr

  • awesum video man!!

  • I am a monkey :D nice tutorial bro!!

  • How does Yamaha's direct drive pedal compare to Axis and Pearl?

  • does all this apply to short boards too or is it a different technique?

  • @mikeskate995 This technique is for any pedal. On some pedals it will just be harder than on others..

  • it also helps to have the a pair of some of the most expensive pedals on the market! lol NOT HATING JUST POINTING THAT OUT.

  • hot!!! :)

  • You are on the right way to became a good drumteacher and workshopdrummer, go on in this way, dude!

  • Actually, Axis is really good about sending new parts. You heard wrong, brother.

  • @Ensiferumftw can you tell me how you tune the bass drum?

  • @yoshiskato Triggers solve your problems.. Make sure it it's not too tight or too loose, should be a little loose, works the best for me...

  • How much do that drumset cost? Where can I get it? Can I get it worldwide?

  • Great thanks! I found a used dm5 through my buddy at guitar center for $100. They had a dm5 for $150 and a dmPro For $100 but they both sold already. I was pretty bummed considering Kollias uses the dmPro. Haha. Thanks For the info man.

  • Great video! Question...I just ordered a dm4 module yesterday. What kick samples are the best for death metal drumming on the dm4 in your opinion? Thanks

  • @bnfdrummer808 Hey, I always used numer 43 if I'm right. I don't think I'll be sure on that, since my dm4 is broken since some days... :( Going for the DM5 now!

  • @EzuHades Jup

  • hahahaha...if you like heavy shit goo buy it hahahah...hahah ur preaty chill my freind...can you tell me sum good beaters tht are light

  • @bongholelover I think the Iron Cobra beaters are very good. Never tried them with my pedals, but Those beaters are just very good! Go buy it ;)

  • are those axis pedals?

  • badasss dudde :D!

  • Can i ask what bass drum trigger kit do you use?? Much help appreciated thanks :)

  • @Albhinoproductions I use the regular Ddrum trigger (not the RedShot)

  • @Ensiferumftw Thanks alot man :) keep up the great work \m/

  • nederlandss?

  • @maxloverock Yep ;)

  • @Ensiferumftw echt awesome skills man! respect!

  • how long did it take you to learn the double bass at 210bpm good job btw!!

  • \TRIGGERS

  • 25:42 Chris Adler mode ON :D

  • how much would the triggers cost ( for the bass drum only) ?

  • @LoadingSet7 The Ddrum trigger is 70 euros, the module costs about 100 euros on Ebay. Then just some cables and ur done.

  • Play Blur from DevilDriver!!

  • Trick pedals are the other major "ultra" pedals.

  • do u recommend any pedals? i may have missed it already but i did here cobras. wat do u think?

  • @metal4ever9116 Cobras are fine, but for the ultra speeds check out the direct drive, especially the Axis longboards and the pearl demon drives.

  • @Ensiferumftw but sometimes you pay for the brand for example, pearl demon drives, but yes they are AMAZING. but still you no it should be like 300 or less you know.

  • @metal4ever9116

If you like heavy settings you can use Iron Cobra or Pearl eliminator and reach high speeds also with that pedals. (check out Arconda666 for example) But i reccomend you Axis, Pearl Demon Drive or Trick pedals!

  • @RighiDrums k thanks

  • less talk more action dude........... boring

  • more at the side, yes.

  • tibia muscles? we don't have muscles at the front of the tibia :p

  • @drusped Hmm yeah.. just near the tibia, to the right of it. Look it up: Tibialis Anterior

  • dude i see ur tension is pretty high up....how tight is it? im sorry if uve answered it already but u have so many comments. thanks alot . great drumming

  • @TutaWookyDrummer and also i have the classic blacks...do u think there are any differences between the standard silver longboards and the classic black? apart from the sonic hammer beaters. thanks

  • Hawt!

  • Hoe langs is dat al zo dat je die axis shit bijna niet kan krijgen en hoe lang willen ze dat nog volhouden gvd!

  • I have one big problem according to double bass playing, which is that I lose my balance. I think I'm sitting in a right position, not too high, not too low, I have good angle in my knees, but still... when I try to reach even 130-140 all of my upper body goes back from this poition: I (me - streight) I (drums) , to this position \ (me - bent backwards) I (Drums), and I need to streighten my hands to reach the tom toms LOOL.... WTF ?!?! You know the reason of that?

  • @00ghost27 I see your problem, I think you must just train to not bend backwards when your playing double bass. Try to like pick up your legs a bit more. Hope this helps you, cause it's pretty hard to say something about is without seeing you actually play.

  • If I'm not mistaken, is that a Tama Superstar Hyperdrive kit? I have the same model!

  • If you like heavy shit...pfft go by it! LOLOLOL xD

  • Comment removed

  • i haven`t found out anything new for me. but anyway your video is good and useful for beginners. great job bro!

  • Heres how to achieve quick double bass in 10 seconds by reading this comment.

    - Get axis pedals.

    - Practice.

  • well if i had tricks instead of stock pedals i could probably keep my speed constant easily too

  • Very Informative thanks man!

  • What you think about Gibraltar Intruder Strap-Drive Pedal?
