  • @missbootyshakernaomi Have you learnt anything since your last post? My cat does this too and everything i have been reading about focal seizures is not very promising. I am going to try and get my cat to the vet tomorrow but hoping you may have some more information. I really do hope your cat is doing well.

  • @mcatfilm Yes! I learned that she had an allergy to grains and fragrances! Since switching her over to a grain free food (Natures Balance - duck and green pea formula dry food) and a COMPLETELY unscented litter, she is SO MUCH HAPPIER, and her twitches are SUPER rare. I used to think that she was just getting grumpy in her old age and have learned that she was just miserable all the time because of her allergies. Try the switch! It's kind of expensive but well worth a happy kitty.

  • Muscles twitching is symptomatic of toxic colon

  • My cat does the same thing, had blodwork and everything was normal. Her x-rays were fine too. Vet gave steroid injection yesterday and cat is still having facial twitches less then 24 hours later. Hope this works. Have you found out anything new recently?

  • @noodlebell Please read the updated information on this video. Turns out it was a grain allergy!

  • ...NO diabetes! Thank God. The only thing left tho that could have caused the seizure he said was neurological, or something in her brain gone wrong. He told me just to keep an eye on her and if it happens again to bring her back. Here's to the good health of both of our beloved companions!

  • My cat does this too. Is it a seizure or just muscle spasms?

  • @diaboyos I've learned from the comments here, and my cousin who is a veterinarian, that they are focal seizures.

  • @MissBootyshakerNaomi Well I just got back from the vet because I think my cat had a mild seizure Friday night. I told the vet about the facial twitches and even pulled out my phone and showed him this video in the office. He said in your cat it may be mild seizures because the cat had diabetes but he thinks it's just muscle spasms in mine. They did a complete blood workup and everything came back normal. No kidney problems, no liver problems, white and red blood counts normal, and...

  • @diaboyos Please read the updated information I posted on this video to help your kitty. Turns out it was an allergy to grains!

  • Hi, My Tigger did the very same thing!! The cause Hypertension, caused by Renal Failure. If I were you, you need to take your kitty to the vet, have them test her blood pressure, and have them do a kidney panel. Hypertension is known as the silent killer in humans, it is so in cats too. Tigger was started on Amlodipine for his pressure, and he never had another focal seizure...that is what they are called. Kidney failure is not a death sentence either. You can't cure it, but it can be managed

  • @deborahlynneb Thank you so much for you reply! I haven't taken her in to the vet yet because she's having less of them recently. I'm so glad you have had this experience and shared it! How much did it cost to have all the tests done? I'd like to be prepared instead of utterly shocked when the vet tells me, and I'd like to try and set money aside for the visit. I have a baby on the way, so funds are VERY tight right now. Planning is everything (unless it's an emergency of course).

  • This cat looks like my Siamese cat Twin Spark.

    It's just her FACE,

    So bootiful

  • By the way, thanks for watching and favoriting my video. And if you take her to the vet, show him (or her) any footage you have of your cat when she is both normal and experiencing the twitches. My vet was overjoyed when I showed her the video of my cat. She said she wished more owners did that, because often cats act completely differently when they're at the vet's office, and it can be hard to effectively spot symptoms.

  • @maggie4n6 No problem. Thank you again for posting it. It's the only video on YouTube that I've found, that has symptoms so similar to what my kitty has going on. Yes, when I get to the vet I'm definitely going to show her this video, as she is terrified of vets. She certainly never acts normal in a vets office, even though she's generally very afraid of new people anyway. Thanks again!

  • I'm not a vet so I can't give an accurate analysis, but if I had to take a guess I'd say they're not seizures but simply muscle twitches. Given her age, small food intake, and high weight, I think the likely culprit is a thyroid imbalance and/or a nutrient deficiency. But again, I'm not a vet. Take your cat to a trained professional to sort this out. YouTube is not an adequate diagnostic service.

  • @maggie4n6 Thank you for your reply. I plan to take her to the vet as soon as I can afford to. Given she seems to have no other health problems, and that these twitches don't seems to bother her, I just don't see reason enough to spend $300+++ on a vet visit just yet. Additionally, I was hoping to go into the vets office somewhat prepared in terms of possible causes. Thanks again for your response. I'll look into your suggestions.
