STUPID PARENTS, I saw this happen this year, except the mom freaked and pulled the girl off to an 8 ft fall. Broke the little girls ankle, that girl is probably going to be petrafied of skiing and chairlifts the rest of her life, whats worse is the operator and ski patrol were yelling at the girl to stay on the chair and the mom to stay back, grrrr.
I remember the absolute first time I went snowboarding it was a lesson. The instructor literally was like okay, everyone put on your snowboards and go on the lift. I panicked and I didn't know how to get off the lift. So I got off facing forward, like I was skiing and then faceplant/hit chair behind me. Haha. Embarrassing!
As a ski instructor, the fault goes to the mother or whatever she is. The child cant touch the ground at all, so she failed to realized that the child couldn't get off by herself. Plus, that chairlift is way to big for the child. The mother took a bad decision there. She would've at least grad her with her arm or don't go on the lift at all.
for frick sake if you have a child who can't freaking touch the groud from the chair, maybe you should help her off instead of expecting her to make the jump, land it correctly and ski away like a pro. What a dumb mom.

I've had a lift where it was 50 degree slope for about a metre down then a wall of piled snow. clearly lift operators have a sense of humour.
