@RebelofMetal I used to install car stereos and find it interesting that the worst car in my opinion were VWs (absolutely zero sheathing around wires under the dash in 80s and 90s Jettas ?! what in the .. even Chevies have that..) and my favorite by a long shot was Porsche. Since i've landed a good job, my first car was - you guessed it - a porsche (but to be honest, my mitsubishi 3000GT that i got in 2000 was very nice overall... can rate that thing tops in all categories.. no porsche tho)
No water, no offroading, nothing but constant electrical problems...and dealers say they can't reproduce it. When Mike, at Neftin VW, saw the windows fail to lower with the key, after he checking for faults and said all was in working order, his comment was that I must have made the motor 'tired' by trying it too much. Twice? They refused to fix it then even though the mechanic saw it fail.
I worked for VW and was offered a great deal on a car from them and said no because my friend bought an 08 rabbit and within 4 months the tranny had no 3rd gear, and a few months later the motor went. All VW's have problems, There built like crap so you have to bring them back to the dealer.
Touareg is very excellent 4X4car, Powerful, and comfortable.
I have touareg 2005 model, V6.
Since one month, i got a problem in the AC, and i need your comments if any body had similar problem before. The front AC works from the side gates only, but not blowing from the middle gates(Gates are open). what do you thing the problem?? does any one has this problem inTouareg?
i have a b6passat and from the mid-vents the same thing is happpening while the one front window blows from all and same on feet...
and i don't think it's a problem at all because once you press the "mid" ventilation button it starts to blow from all 4 gates, maybe it's to avoid it blowing in your face? (i find that quite annoying - so i love this feature)...
well if this doesn't help then you might have a problem
it was the first year it was put into production, an vw hadnt worked out all of the kinks...and as for the parts and workmanship, theyre amazing....considering the cayanne is the same exact car....this is the most solid car i have driven, and ive driven m3's. the m3s body has a bit of tortion wile accelerating, the touareg doesnt even budge....i hit a pole with it and was able to drive it home with no problems. (this was a 5700 dollar repair)
"it was the first year it was put into production, an vw hadnt worked out all of the kinks"
Are you kidding?! What kind of argument is that?? VW should have worked out the obviously MAJOR kinks BEFORE it sold them to customers!! The Japanese clearly know how to design a car and THEN sell it.
a major problem would be the engine not running...minor problems are electrical and stuff like that....the amount of electric components in this car are twice as much as a Japanese car has...i think 2 or three problems is pretty good with the amount of motors, computers and suspension management systems....plus im pretty sure that the touareg hasnt had any recalls.
Are you kidding me?!? "minor problems are electrical and stuff like that." Have you ever seen a car being torn apart in a mad search for the source of an electrical problem?? It is one of the most time consuming fixes possible. Secondly, how many cars do you hear of nowadays that have major engine failures while they are 4 years old? . . .
well considering diagnostics takes care of the location of the electronics problems...id say electrical systems are not a MAJOR concern...a major concern is something that forces the company to hold a recall...recalls are detrimental when it comes to profit..(ford and the new powerstroke)...and as for the cars that have major engine troubles, that is up to the owner. its totally plausible for someone to totally destroy an engine in 4 years
A) My old car was recalled for electrical problems, and;
B) The fact that you just said the Touareg is a "sport utility" and the GX is different because it is a "full size SUV" (emphasis on SUV) really ends the conversation right there.
i just had a electrical problem with my passats fuel injectors..-a wire, the dealer fixed it and told me about it only when i was already there to pick up the car and i didn't even get charged much for that... so i call that a minor problem, the thing i hear from americans is that "dealer wants this and this changed" so problems become big when they cost alot, real problem is often in bad diagnostics.. i also had a bunch of errors from the car which were only there because of a faulty glowplug
i hear what your'e sayin... for me time is money as well... but then it's better to take a taxi ;) there's no car in the world that will be perfect... it's impossible
. . . And finally, you are just dead wrong with your wild guess that a Touareg has twice as many electrical systems as its only Japanese counterpart, the GX470. The GX470 also has air suspension, all the offroad goodies, and recently placed FOUR spots ahead of the Touareg in a major comparison test. And, nearly no GX470 has major electrical problems, or really any problems for that matter, which is a widely accepted fact.
i will disagree about all of them having problems....but the touareg had major electrical problems....mostly because the car is all electronically controlled devices....ive taken mine in many times due to faulty electric systems
It was a problem due to faulty wires connections under the drivers side carpet. It would seem VW has electrical junctions there, but when the carpet gets wet corrosion sets in the juctions. This is a common problem here in Quebec city

@discocreator76 Have you found out yet that VWs are not made Germany anymore? They are purely a Mexican lemon--have been for 10 years I think!
