haha...the comment below is hilarious. what's next?..someone should have told Bach and Mozart that there is no Allegro, Presto, or Prestissimo. In my experience, people who say speed is nothing usually can't play with speed. I think the more appropriate comment should be speed is not everything...which I think people who can play fast and accurate would agree it's not everything, but speed has its place for sure.
You're right about speed - but I've never even smoked a cigarette in my life. It's fortunate for my neighbors that my guitar is not electric. Thanks for watching!
a player offering up this kind of improvisation sounds like a formidable talent to me. boogie must be a difficult style to play on guitar, but this recording is pretty fun to listen to and impressive to watch. best part is 1:55 to the end imo.
O.K. You say I am to kind, when I tell you that you are fantastic, well my husband has played guitar for 35 years and HE says, you are fantastic too, so there!
It's a real privilege to have such an audience as yourself and your husband! (By the way, it would be great if you uploaded a guitar video by your husband). Thanks again, Existingappointment!
you really need to work on clear basslines. the faster you went the worse it got. if you cant play it right fast, play it slow and speed it up gradually till you can. all and all it wasnt that bad, i've seen alot worse on here, but it sounded really tinny and rickety because of the over the top speed vs. your playing ability.
You're absolutely right, Jessupar! In fact, the goal wasn't to play fast; I had been improvising a little nervously (I couldn't do that slowly), and as at the time I thought that there were a few bits which -though "rickety" as you rightly say- had some rough rhythm in them, I decided to record and upload (counting on Youtubers' leniency). That this video would be watched so many times is totally unexpected for me.
I hope people have enough respect for the environment not to inflict this upon an innocent carrot. Thank you, Chemiecta! I've just watched your excellent piano boogie video.
There have been two comments that claim I've speeded up my video. Check my video response, that proves they are wrong; I'm neither a cheat, nor a good guitarist (but I can play relatively fast - which doesn't mean I play well, of course)
No: if you think I speeded it up, check my VIDEO RESPONSE: I hope you'll see I'm not a cheat. I'm not a very good guitarist, but I'm able to play fast.
Moreover, I presume that speeding up a video would distort the sound.
The fingerpicking near the end reminds me of the great Merle Travis! You have such a gift for interpitation and a very apealing style all of your own!
Thank you again, Larry! (I was fooling around, playing too fast for my capacity). A very kind comment from a guitar-picker such as you, with much more knowledge of guitar techniques than myself
Absolutely not; I don't play very well, but I'm able to play fast - which explains the fact that many times I miss a string, forget a note, and my sound is coarse etc. I've even noticed that I couldn't improvise while playing more slowly, because then I start playing much more cleanly. Of course, I've deleted many other improvisations and I've chosen the "less bad" (I wouldn't say the better) among many worse improvisations.
only another guitar player would apreciate this although i hope this is not your only style sounds a little like psychobilly i like it when you don't play so choppy
Thank you for commenting, Gstrings50! You're right: this improvisation is a little violent, and I'm working at playing in a steadier, quieter way, which is more difficult actually.
You are your own worst critic, that was very enjoyable great Job!!!!!!
