There's no emotion or chemistry between Patrick & Jennifer; hwr, their professionalism brings out chemistry btw Johnny & Baby - but even the acted chemistry is not true love chemistry as he had with his wife. The "Doc" who gave her an abortion was apparently a crappy doctor hence "dirty knife and a folding table". So something went wrong and the girl is sick, probably from an infection of some sort. So Baby's father tended to her and made her better..! =)
