I dropped from 24-25 mpg highway to MAYBE 21mpg highway and that's stretching it. Around town not much more than 2mpg with my gearing. The FRPP cams are gone (I'm back to stock cams) and I plan to install some Comp StgII VSR's soon...
Too difficult to drive in heavy traffic with 4.10 gears and manual trans. The comps have a smoother idle which equates to easier clutch release w/o bucking in traffic. And they produce more power. I'm in holding pattern deciding s/c and cam combo and which comps to go with...
My buddy just got the Livernois stage 2 cams....mild idle with just a touch of lope. Pulls hard all the way through, very drivable. makes 600 rwhp with a saleen blower.....worth looking at IMHO.
I will def check those out. Whatever I go with next will have less lope than the hotrods...most do other than the hr's/ thumpers. I'm over the long duration, difficult to tune lopey cams. I want some smoother idling, power producing ones.
Haven't run her at the track yet. I have a NX Express plate kit that has been sitting in my garage for two months now. I purchased the kit on impulse (after a few beers one night lo) and have yet to install it. I'll need another $600 in accessories for safe operation and just dropped $1500 on suspsension. I'll post some numbers soon... very soon..
Quick question man, how much for the install on the FRPP cams? I'll be getting some this winter and getting 4.10's installed as well... just love the old muscle car sounds
They aren't cheap. $700 for the cams, $500 for install and another $500 to have them dyno-tuned. With these cams and 4.10 gearing you'll have a whole new car though. The 4.10's match up perfectly with the new broader powerband.
If you call pulling like a tank all the way out to 6800rpm an issue. lol. I did a couple of 3.5k-6.5k rpm runs on an elevated interstate (safest place to open her up like that) and it scared me when it bounced off the limiter at 6800rpm because it was still pulling so HARD. Priceless. Idle can be a little quirky sometimes but livable for the renewed topend this car should have.
what mid pipe?
