@SierraLorraineBowers Wow. How insightful. Unfortunately, it's absolute bullshit. People pick up accents, no matter their age, depending on the person. Madonna is a complete fake and we all get that, but as an American from the north east, having lived all over the world and the States, what happened for me was to lose all the accent I had. Some NY friends moved to the south and picked up the 'Bama accent and others picked up their new accent or none at all. People aren't all alike.

@JadedRockStar84 If your cognitive developmental theorists (which you should really site a source) did any research at all, they would also find the "military accent" which tends to be a conglomeration of accents from all over the U.S., occurs in adults and defies the shit out of your critical period, set at puberty nonsense. Maybe you should go experience these things before speaking out on them and making yourself out to be a snide little know-it-all, with no experience to back her claims.

The point that I'm making is that you haven't learned anything, except what other people say. Go experience these things and find out for yourself, rather than regurgitating something in a book.
