Remember this is 1981 and the whole punk/ska thing was not entirely accepted by the mainstream listening public at that time. The music was still kind of in it's infancy. For people who at that time were used to listening to bands like Rush, Journey, Styx, Laura Branigan, Rod Stewart, Kim Carnes, Air Supply or whoever was popular during that time, music like this was completely radical.
