@Oneversal actually it sounds just like she going along with the melody with do da da da
do da da ba da etc. I used to think that she was saying something to but listening to this video it is more clear. There is one that she is singing this song from a later date and she is dancing a little more. Love the video and the song. She was wonderful!
So what was Yvonne Elliman's breakout? If you said she sung the part of Mary Magdalene in both the Broadway and film versions of "Jesus Christ Superstar," give yourself 10 points.
THIS CLASSIC COMES FROM A GREAT TIME- BACK IN THE 70S AND 80S . MUSIC WAS GOOD AND LIFE SEEMED SIMPLE AND CAREFREE. PEOPLE HAD TIME FOR EACHOTHER . WEATHER WAS WARMER , OH DAMN I WANT TO GO BACK NOW .
I love, love love Ms. Yvonne!! You made the Gibb brothers proud with this fine, unenhanced, live rendition. So what if its through a backing track! At least there's now auto-tune, thank God. That's for losers who can't sing!
@jadujen she can actually sing. this is matter of a bad engineer on the show. The jackass didn't match up the sound quality with her voice. U can tell by the way she's struggling to find her on level without shouting over the music. eck.
@jadujen I think you might not be used to hearing real voices without auto-tune and multitracking. She does have a good voice, but she was singing totally live to a canned track. The mic was really dry with no enhancement at all.
@at90percent I don't think that's it. I was raised on hearing profesionally trained voices, live, with no enhancement needed. Observed lots of voice lessons at home, thanks. I also know that canned tracks, esp loud ones, are hard to sing well over. But this just sounding like she strains & pushes her voice the wrong way, or maybe doesn't have a great tone. Just my opinion, no need to argue. =)
One of the rare video's that show a very talented singer, perform live with no enhancements maintaining that strong emotion everyone across the world embraced and connected with. Great performance. New Years Eve Celebration at the Hilton Hawaiian Village 2012. Local Divas.
what a time in life huh?Man these were the days.bee gees nicolette larson these fine lady .kids today have no idea what they missed Wow what memories these were the days thatll never come back this shit now isnt music!
@Zippertheslipper I see you're still sucking your right thumb, holding your teddy bear tight, in your pink pajamas, dreaming Yvonne would kiss you on the forehead for nightie-night. And you're in your 40's right now? Such a tragic childhood. This is a perfect example of what sniffing glue will do to your brain-cells.
HEARING THIS SONG MAKES ME WANT TO PUT ON HIGH HILLS AND A DRESS OPEN IN FRONT SHOWING MY LONG LEGS DOING A TURN ,AND LIGHTS OF A DANCE BALL OVERHEAD, LETS DANCE !!!!!
Good, quality material from the brothers Gibb. Still not sure they get the credit they deserve for their song writing abilities, as distinct from their hit-making abilities. As for Yvonne Eliman, what can I say? I was 14 in 1978. She made a lasting impression on me. I like her voice and I like her effortless style. She is very talented. It's a good song, though.
sex appeal and those very ridiculous outfits is the only way that music is appealing to the youth of today. lady gaga will not be doing music in 25-30 years from now. she will be a has been that is all washed up and hung out to dry.
Yes, she's very sexy. So nice to see someone with talent stand there and sing instead of watching someone lip sync while doing something that resembles an aerobics workout.
What interests her ethnicity? comment on the video and the singer's performance, the rest does not interest. So what matter if she is white, yellow, red, black? The important that she has a beautiful singing voice, and was a very beautiful woman.

How in the hell did we get here and HOW do we get back. (Please no extremist responses from either direction. Keep it in the spirit of the love for the times!
