These sort of things are quite fun to watch but they are stupid really and prove nothing. The audi is a car which is fundamentally like we all drive to the shops and the harrier is an awesome aircraft which can move in 3 dimensions not to mention vstol and no car can do these things! So what if the audi can beat it in a drag race cant see the audi reaching 600mph and the harrier weighs a lot more plus carries weapons to do a job and not just race!

the peg 105 was put in the mk2 harrier and was in service in 1989 not 1959. As for a raptor, the harrier is quicker off the line as the raptor has to wait for it's afterburners to kick in at Which point a harrier is halfway down the runway. Fact. seen it. Worked on them for 17 years.

LOL the harrier is far from the pinnical of technology, it is over 40 yearrs old and is subsonic. In 1966 when the first Harrier GR 1 rolled out of the factory it was a pinical of technology, but not now (or then, even in 07') nice ride though.

Just because the SR-71 has a really high top speed does'nt necessarily mean the take off would be as quick as a smaller fighter jet.

by the way the SR 71 claim to fame is not just top speed. Its ceiling height (practicaly space) and engine strength (enough to pull a liner)

for a start, the harrier was designed in the 1950's so its hardly the pinnacle of technology! audi r10 is mid eng RWD as are ALL le mans racers, but all modern audi's are predominantly rwd untill wheel slip is detected then a clutch mechanism kicks in and diverts power to the front wheels up to a max of 40/60 front to back. u ALL need to go learn a trick or two...

the average take off speed for a typical fighter is only around 150knts, (approx 160mph) hence why they can launch from a small aircraft carrier. 160 mph aint really that big a deal for a modern performance car, let alone something like an R10. i think the whole point of this is to show how TDi power has come a long way and is just a showcase to prove its worth as an alternative to petrol without sacrificing performance like the diesels of old...

But with the Audi how many people drive a modern day Diesel? A few and alot of the technology developed for this car is emplanted into modern diesel engines. The tyres do blow in a Veyron after 15mins at top speed. But fuel only last 12mins.

yes dirtyDielo, but the Harrier was built to fly in the air, and since the R10 would have better acceleration because the Turbines in the V/STOL Harrier have to take in the air to get the afterburner going, its a slow start for the harrier...

I know that is a old post but the R-10 R-8 and the R-8R are all rear wheel drive so 2 wheel, Unlike the road version of the R8. With a Quattro system in that car it would weigh too much unless they use the same system I have in the TT and even then it would be too heavy, but would be sweet to see that with Quattro it would demo the competition. Oh btw not sure if you knew this Quattro was kicked out of racing for an unfair advantage, but they are using it again in some race cars being the RS6

Do you by chance watch ALMS? the R8 and R10 are both rear wheel drive, it would be cool if they used Quattro but they don't and I doubt that they ever will, There street car version yes they use it but the only time if I am correct that they used Quattro in there race cars in when the cars need to remain semi stock, like touring car series, the Speed GT series with the RS6 and I don't remember the series but they were kicked out for an unfair advantage with the A4, search it up buddy
