Very nice, after seeing this makes me want to try myself :] - Then whack in my Kaosillator, Mini KP and Monotron as send effects and you've got a cool live performance machine lined up!
@FreedomBeats Agreed mate. Thought about this: if you just want to use the faders then you might be able to get away with using Behringer's BCF2000. But I would really like to use the PMI/O to process live inputs via Ableton as well...
@PeterCatLovesYou Ye the Behringer would do the job. And ye this with ableton live would be ace! Im thinking of getting ones of these to go with ableton and cubase, but i've heard the pre ams arnt too good....
Great video mate! I would like to know how you're using this unit as a sequencer? I also have project mix i/o which i'm using with ableton. Is there anyway I can use it a sequencer with ableton?
@nuelogic Cheers mate. I just set up redrum with a load of identical samples (sawtooths I think), created a pattern which ran through the 8 steps in sequence, and used the faders (pre-configured in Reason anyway) to alter the pitch or amplitude (by hitting the Flip button). Unfortunately no clever way I can think of do this in Ableton (which I now user more often) although I believe that there is now a step sequencer available via Max for Live, which you might be able to MIDIfy. Good luck!
Dude, I just picked up one of these units and I'm freaking out! I can't believe the power that is within this thing. I'm really glad I spent the $1000, well worth every penny. We will be in touch!
how did u get the pitch workin at minute 1:10f ? i know how to pitch a sample in redrum but i dont not know u could define the pitch for seperate grid points differently.
#2
how did u change the pattern length for 1 sample, while the others keep playing onbeat.
#1 They're not so much grid points as redrum playing the same sample across all 8 drum pads in order: swapping to fader layout enabled me sample to tune each pad (i.e. adjust the pitch). Make sense? No setup required: luckily the mapping was correct to do this.
#2: you'll need to clarify this one I'm afraid (if my description above hasn't helped!) The distorted sound was playing a matrix pattern in 7/8 time whilst all the others were straight 4/4.
Wow! this is amazing! i've been looking at lots of videos of the project mix i/o and most of them are just showing off vegas mode, but this is the best video showing what this unit can do! I just picked up a ProjectMix of my own on ebay today =)
Well, you can record 8 channels of audio SIMULTANEOUSLY. Don't forget this is a controller so it emulates the virtual mixer in your DAW (Ableton, Logic, whatever). You can flip from Channels 1-8 to 9-16 etc at the touch of a button.
you can if you have an ADAT lightpipe connecting to another set of pre's..you can have a total of 16 simultaneous with this unit..i recommend the m-audio octane..
Nice weird freaking tune :)

Wow, great use of hardware and samples man! That does not have the "Reason Sound" at all.

Thanks man. Funnily enough pretty basic patches but glad you liked.
PeterCatLovesYou 2 years ago
I don't understand that whole "reason sound" talk. I've made things with reason people wouldn't guess was made with reason.
Obviously if you use all the pre-sets and loops that come with it.. but who does?!

Hi Kabel, soz for delay.

I wonder if Yamaha 01X can do this as well as ProjectMix

Erm, I guess so, but read the manufacturer's specs...

question: how do you set project mix i/o faders into a flying faders.. like the ones on the website.. :) heheh!! thanks! tim
timderamos 3 years ago
Hi, thanx for the quick response. I have another question: how many channels can you control with the Projectmix? 8, 16, 24, 32???
xellos00 3 years ago
Basically an infinite number, but 8 at any time. (You press the bank select buttons to get to the next/previous channels.)
PeterCatLovesYou 3 years ago
It looks that you can control not only volume, but also effects right? I think there's a wha or something like that you're controlling.
xellos00 3 years ago
Yup, controlling ALL parameters through surface.
PeterCatLovesYou 3 years ago
can i record more than 8 channels with the project mix i/o on sonar 7 (for example) ??
Biohazzard07 3 years ago
Well, you can record 8 channels of audio SIMULTANEOUSLY. Don't forget this is a controller so it emulates the virtual mixer in your DAW (Ableton, Logic, whatever). You can flip from Channels 1-8 to 9-16 etc at the touch of a button.

mcparham 3 years ago
so right there are you using mor than 8 channels?
Biohazzard07 3 years ago
Thats wonderful! What type of surface is that you are using?
ligterror 3 years ago
It's M-Audio's ProjectMix IO - but for this purpose any motorised fader surface would do, e.g. Behringer's very cheap BCF2000. Glad you liked!
PeterCatLovesYou 3 years ago
cool, but how you configurate de control surface with the sounds?
fakemessiah 3 years ago
This is done automatically by Reason. The sliders I push control faders on the various instruments I flick between.
