@waubese, I'm a classical ballet instructor and she is not sickling at all. You must be confused. Sickling is when the outside ankle bone is either lined up with or bowing outside of the baby toe. She is well placed & lovely keeping her inside ankle bone above the big toe and pinching the outside of the ankle around the ankle bone. I would probably advise changing her pointe shoes, since she's frequently sinking down in her box a bit and it's breaking just above the metatarsal.

@waubese Really? I don't think she sickles more than anyone else on pointe. In fact to me it looks as if she is standing pretty much evenly over all toes and not favouring one side more than the other. the shoes don't have any signs of being used unevenly...maybe i am watching a different video...

urg. I have a joint on the outside of my foot that is abnormal, and it goes out much further than a normal persons should. It runs in my family. It hurts like kajhdfknserugh, and I can't do pointe with it, though I'm strong enough and flexable.. and all that jazz. :'( if there is ANY way to help this ANYWAY!!! please please tell me. I can't find anything online, and people keep saying i should just give up. but pointe=LIFE so yeah please&thanks

WEAR THEM ALOT!! It really helps you get more comfortable and break them in..I wouldn't try and releves or rises or anything until you get used to them but just wearing them will really help! :)

Beautiful. I have been in ballet for 7 years, I just got my demi pointe shoes last month and don't think it is easy it takes a lot more strength to get up en pointe then it looks :) @writer13426 I have pretty flat feet and I can go en pointe and I have seen girls with no arch at all go up en pointe it takes more work to do it but you can do it and a theraband will help a lot :)

You seem to be trained fairly well, which is nice to see on youtube because so many of these videos are people who do not belong wearing a pair of pointe shoes or owning them. just make sure u really work on ure turnout and work through the demi pointe of your shoe. your are nicely placed on ure box, but when u releve, you can see that the shank of the shoe has not been broken in yet. so just make sure you practice rolling up a lot. otherwise, nice work!

@spotlightdancer1001 I would recommend ouch pouches and medical tape where your shoes rub your feet.After pointe class it helps to soak your feet in epsom salt (can be baught at any local drugstore). It hurts at first but it gets easier! Keep on dancing! :)

Even though you only see her from the knees down, you can see how this dancer has great pointe technique - she pulls herself upinto a perfect posture through the muscles in her stomach and back, so that she never 'sits' in the shoes. Pointe work is so much more than just preparatory exercises for the feet and ankles - it really does take the whole body to work properly.
