OK, everyone hates this movie. This is what I thought were great things about it: the use of footage and voice of Marlon Brando, the use of John William's music, and the Lois and Superman rooftop scene was majestic and beautiful. Please, everyone, let's keep the comments to be about the vidoes and not politics, and, I wish that when someone disagrees with someone else's comments a torrent of "fuck you"s and "you're a retard" did not commence.
I wish we could have seen the entire film. So much was cut that according to Singer would have made the film for epic and even closer to the first two films. The deleted footage on the DVD doesn't even come close. The story was great, and the addition of Jason was great, as I saw him as a potential victim in a sequel vs. General Zod and his krytptonian defense system, Brainiac.
I don't see that as a problem since the producers were striving to have this be a direct sequel to Superman I and II. With Brando being in it and the pictures of Glen Ford as Jonathon Kent only reinforce this. So, I think Routh was just trying to be as close to Reeve as he could to keep the character consistant. Bosworth on the other hand..........
I agree that Superman needs to take on a villain that can match his physical prowess, but at the same time, Luthor as his main villain stems from the old saying "Mind over matter". Hackman even said it in Superman.
hotwheelsonfire listen u little turd its not bout punchin sum1 listen to the music does it sound destructive ur simply not ready for superman go watch kypto the dog mayb more you style superman is peaceful, god i hate people hu jus dont no what they go on bout, ur comments r as bout as useful as a chocolate teaspoon at the end of da clip watch superman fly bk down to earth cos hes saving sum1 yes savin sum1 not punchin sum1 u god dam doochebag
This movie was fucking awesome. The only poeple who hated it cant stand to sit through an actual story. The comment below mine says he wanted to see superman punch someone. What the fuck? When has that ever been something that Superman would actually do? The generation today just wants to see bloated action and stupid special effects. Fuck go watch transformers or something, superman isnt made for this generation anyways, its too mature for that. Gritty and dark isnt Superman. Get the fuck out.
@Shaolin214 This movie is horrible. Actual story? This is nothing like Superman's story. Superman is about having teenage love drama bullshit. Lois Lane never had another man or marry one or anything like that. I'm a huge Superman fan, even check out my channel and you can clearly see that I know everything there is to know about Superman. Superman isn't about drama bullshit. Superman is about hope, he's the savior, he's Superman!
@Shaolin214 excuse me? im his biggest fan and im 18 dont insult a generation man ps Superman isnt gritty and dark hes wholesome and heroic, he shows us the best we can be and considering the fact all modern superheroes have become gritty the fact superman is still the great golden hearted boy scout is iconic realy
Yea, the love child bit was embarrassing. And the Lex Luthor land scheme? Really? Everything seemed rushed and poorly thought out. The only dialog I found memorable was lifted from the first film!
LEX: "It reminds me of what my father said to me once"
OTIS: "Get out?"
LEX: "No, before that."
Word is they are going with some kind of "dark" reboot next. Mostly because the suits want "Dark Knight" level ticket sales. Dark tends to mean adult, and adult tends to mean better. We'll see.
This trailer is so awesome. It makes me terribly sad to think about how terrible the movie actually was. For me, this minute long trailer was the only return of Superman but it was a superb one. Superman Returns was a godawful mess of a film, hell even the other trailers for this movie are horrible, but this may be one of the greatest trailers of all time. The old Superman theme strikes up that emotion from childhood, and Marlon Brando's words are incredible. Thanks for posting it.
Yeah seriously. What's even worse is that in the comics he apparently dies at the end; I really hope that's some kind of joke or spoof because otherwise I'd want to smack the story writer/s upside the head and ask them just wth they were thinking. Killing Superman, jeez.. Who's next to be killed off? Batman -__- ?
Well, if you think about it this way..the child's might be a hybrid. Like a mule is a hybrid between a horse and a donkey XD
As for the whole human thing; well, he supposedly had lost his powers permanently in the 2nd film and then he got them back. Which means it's just his powers he lost, not his alien-ness. Umm, correct me if I'm wrong but once you're an alien you're always an alien ^^; ? Superman really isn't even a 'super' man because any Kryptonian would have the same powers on a planet that circles a yellow star. Personally, I just don't like that they messed up the story with Lois being with another guy.
But scientists did use a telescope and thought they'd found remnants of it, so I think that much makes sense. I haven't really read the comics but that's because I'm not a fan of the way the super heros are drawn, mostly XD .. And the way their on-screen personalities are usually different from their colder comic book personalities. Maybe that's to appeal more to male readers but it gets on my nerves. One reason I like Superman so much is because he's so..decent :/
Actually, he wasn't expecting to find the whole planet, just possible survivors and/or remnants so I think it makes sense he left to see for himself.
And I think the reason Superman gave up his powers to be with Lois wasn't because he couldn't physically..you know, but rather because it would have put her in danger from enemies to be with him as Superman. When she asked him whether his bodily functions were 'normal' in the first movie, he said they were. So I doubt the problem was physical.
I think Lois should quit being a..word I will not mention, LOL, and get with Superman. I mean, the son is going to need his -real- father. He's not a normal human being, only Superman would be able to understand what he'd be going through growing up.
I don't know, I guess a reboot would be good but I don't like that they just keep re-booting stories like that because then we're not getting anywhere.
I see your point, but the kid will need to be raised by normal parents. That's the only way for someone with so much power to learn about the value of humanity.
I totally agree with you. In my opinion Superman's story is timeless-he's been around since 1938 and he aint going anywhere. And it really does make sense and is so beautiful. I loved that they stuck with alot of the original quotes and music theme as well. The music is so beautiful and the move brought me to tears. Personally I didn't mind the so-called lack of action because at least Superman didn't seem like an over-muscular blockhead.
I think (although the film had it's merits, this trailer in particular) that the filmakers should have started a new superman franchise, insted of trying to re start the old one. That puppy died after Superman IV: the quest for peace.
