Japanese rules allow for shoes to be worn during fights. In the old days of the UFC (after Zuffa bought the company) they allowed fighters to wear shoes but the athletic commissions have since banned them or allowed them under limited use (no headkicks allowed while wearing them)

It usually helps wrestlers with takedowns since it allows them better traction to dig into the mat. Mirko's case would allow him to move faster and sprawl better. It would also allow him to torque his kicks better.

i counted about 15 attacks from choi,

hes trying to beef up his game, just cause hes a giant, it doesnt mean his only approach to fights should be that he recklessly attacks. he was careful in picking his shots, and crocop is as evasive as ever. theres this video thats been circulating where a white kickboxer kicks a black guy in his knee and the white guys leg snaps in half as he puts pressure on it. same thing here, same contact point, choi felt something give..im not saying his legs broke
