The 'doors' on missile housings arnt mechanically opened, they are destroyed when the missile is launched.

with mark 26 launcher they are(the ones used to lift sm's/harps trough the deck to the arms). there just isnt any ships using swing arm launchers in service(with usn, exported perrys still have their launchers).

Several of these ship-borne armament systems seem so technically complex that I wonder how reliable they can be in a real war. What happens when the ship's electrical/mechanical systems are damaged or the ship takes a hit from an opposing force? What if a missile launcher loading door jams? Are there manual over-ride systems in place or built-in redundancies?  I hope so, for the sake of the crews. I'm not criticizing...just curious.

Good job! Although you could answer your own questions by noticing the intro, our ballcaps say USS Vincennes CG49, one of the the first 5 Ticonderoga Class Aegis Cruisers with the MK26 GMLS, or the twin arm bandit, as we called it. She was decomissioned in the summer of 2005, in San Diego, CA.

Well it has to be a early Tic or a Kidd. No other Spuance type had those launchers, and the rear harppon launchers point to it being a Tic, the Kidds have them amidships, plus the open space behind the ciws also denotes this is a Tic as the Kidds had them next to the superstructure and funnel.
