Size 1280x800 not found in available modes

my max resolution is 1280x800 , but i want it to be higher, do you know how?

Its in .bashrc file, search in google about .bashrc and this line.

i do have a question though as i think this is stopping me from obtaining my full resolution..... linux is reporting my LG 42" lcd as a 52" lcd...
is there any way that you know of to fix this as im not getting my full "Screen Realestate"?

DUDE! you really helped me! Thanks alot! I searched the we for hours looking for a solution. I'm new to ubuntu, never used unix or linux befor but i was tired of windows going so slow all the time.
