I wish people would understand that part of the reason that Daniel Craig's Bond isn't the womanizing, cheesy, decked-out-in-ridiculous gadgets Bond we know is because Casino Royale was supposed to be how he was BEFORE he became like that. QoS is much in the same way. Personally, I'm happy that the cast/crew of the new Bond films have made them the way they are. They create realistic pieces, and they don't think we're morons. Everything is brilliant, in my opinion, and Craig is my fav. by far.

Although Fleming wouldn't agree with this, the modern screenwriters have been floating the idea that James Bond isn't actually a person, it's a cover identity each operative assumes when he becomes 007. This would explain Bond's usually the same age after all these years. So this scene would be when Mi6 decided to retire Brosnan. Can't figure out why he'd be a double agent for Ottawa, though.

He didn't exactly capture the knowledge of drinks and food that Ian Fleming's Bond had, but in terms of ruthlessness and flat-out cold-bloodedness, he is the closest to the version in the novels. Of course, Sean Connery is still better, in my opinion, than any other Bond to date.
