@Skyless0rebirth Funny you mention that because I have spent a ton of time mixing and matching pedals trying to replicate Meshuggah's tone, and finally nailed it when I was jamming through a friend's Line 6 Spider guitar amp with a cheap Ibanez bass. I think we, as bassists, are just trying too hard. I had heard Jason Suecof had used some plugin to get the distortion in the studio, though.

hey dude. maybe someone else already answered to you... however i tried the ps 5 for exactly this reason and i can tell you its not the right thing. the boss pitchshifter mode isnt capable of adding 3 or 4 step harmonies above the original tone... its only possible in harmony mode, which means you have to set the key in which youre playin the song. the thing is, that it doesnt work for btm songs cause he is playing things that actually dont have a key. kinda hard to explain.

The studio-guy who helped to record Dystopia said he used VST plugin for bass. Emulation of Sansamp bass driver or something like that.

Try also MXR shit - it rocks. I used to record distorted copy of bass track through tube preamp (copy of Bogner TripleGiant). Shit that thing is brutal. Both for guitar and bass. Cheers!

I think deathcore is, for the most part, generic. But, Despised Icon is definitely an exception, even now. I like their older material better when they incorporated grind into their sound, but they recorded some heavy breakdowns on "The Ills Of Modern Man". Beneath The Massacre is awesome!
