  • คนไทยโครตโชคดี

  • silat melayu and pencak silat is very different.

the heviest influence of pencak silat is kuntao. kuntao is believed to be the real shaolin kung fu that brought to south east asia by the chinese/kungfu master

    sorry for my english

  • Muay Chaiya has root as other arts do, arround early of the 19th.century ..a martial art master from the royal palace in bangkok had moved to the Chaiya town (Surajthani province in present) ,he became a monk afterward and stayed in the temple named "Wat Tuang- jhub -chang" and since that time he passed his art to the local people there....

  • รายการไทย มีแต่ฝรั่งมาคอมเม้น ดูสิว่าคนต่างชาติเค้าสนใจมวยไชยามาขนาดไหน

  • Thai girl are hot as hell

  • haber quien es el guapo que lo traduce... xDD

  • learn our history before u say anything irritating. im from the south of thailand and i live close to Chaiya City in Surat Thaini Province and i say we've never been malaysian.

  • too bad ur not thai, u will never understand

its a buddhist fighting art designed to protect the kingdom

dont get too jealous Malaysian, maybe next life u will be Thai, just keep dreaming for now

  • no one cares go watch your own khmer video if your here to start shit with others who just here to enjoy

  • some of us are teaching Muay Chaiya in USA allready...

  • yeah MDIS, im also agreed with u. more over the southern thailand originally is also the ancient malay kingdom and this kingdom also had been conquored ayuthaya in the past. sorry bad english.

  • A student of Kru Praeng's once told me that Muay Thai Chaiya did not actually originate in the south of Thailand so its origin could not have gone as far back to the days of the ancient malay kingdom and Ayutthaya. I do agree with u both though that being popular in the south it might have had some contacts with some Pencak Silat practitioners.

  • Muay chaiya was brought from central Siamese to South, by a master and he started teaching there.

  • As seen in the special techniques section of this video ( part ) series , it is quite similar to the Malaysian Martial Arts known quite simply as Pencak Silat.

    The Black Uniforms.

    The Belt ranking.

And the system of grappling and locks.

I believe that Muay Thai Chaiya have or had influenced many Pencak Silat Masters in Northern and Central Malaysia.

I would love to learn and pick up Muay Thai Chaiya.

  • @MDIS i did some research and i found that Silat Pattani is the oldest form of all Silat Melayu, which i have a reason to believe thats where your Pencak Silat the malaysian martial art is from as well. Since Silat Pattani is originated from thailand it does support what you claim about their similarity. search "CD muay thai chaiya wanarat 1/9 " on youtube.. if you wanna learn more about muay chaiya and if you like it but their cd to support their cause. thanks

  • @MDIS malaysian? pencak silat is from indonesia

malaysian silat is called silat melayu or just silat.

but yes, i agree with you. the use of elbow & knee, the dance, the system of grappling & lock and also the use of weapon. they are similiar to pencak silat, especially the old style silat

  • @MDIS Well ,Malay warriors dont use armour so they had to come up with something that really works and very practical. That is why the more traditional silat requires more agility. Silat emphasize heavily on locking techniques. Silat used to be Grappling and wrestling and the striking techniques was influenced by martial arts from other nations. There is , however , the malay equivalent of Muay Boran called Tomoi (dhoi muay) from the northern parts f Malaysia.

  • The popularity for Taekwondo became national when Thais knew that they can qualify for the Asean , South East Asian , Regional and International or World Olympic recognitions.

Whilst Muay Thai is still a popular local spectator sport for many , the decline is quite alarming. But with foreign students and popularity , the camps in Thailand are still running.

Muay Boran , Muay Chaiya etc all have been assimilated into Muay Thai.

Similar to Taekwondo Hoshinsool self defense.

  • Edalb123 you don;t no How is kru Preang and muaychaiya..?? you not from Asian so shut the hell up!!

  • this is good thanks for post this clip it make me proud to be thai, and about TKD in my opinion it's only big in bangkok if you go out of there you'll find lots of muaythai camps in the country. one more fact muaythai is still one of the most watched sport on TV in Thailand(not sure if it still the first or not since everyone watching european football now)

  • Too bad that it's also very difficult to find enough Muay Chaiya schools even in Thailand itself. I can't believe that there are more Tae Kwon Do schools in Bangkok than that of Muay Boran !

  • Yes it is Truly hard to find. but I am Really Lucky^^. My home is Near the School^^

  • How is Kru Preang and Muay Chaiya? Is it as amazing as it looks?

  • @smartchai it's one place in thailand that i know he teach muay thai chaiya is name is lekbut you have to call him kru lek the place is in bangkok in the old one name ayuttaya i think

  • @dog009988 Yes, I know him. He's my Muay Chaiya instructor ! He also teaches other kinds of arts such as Thai style canvas painting, puppetmaking, and watercolors.

  • @smartchai Does kru preang accept foreign students? and do students have to know muay boran to join?

  • @Jimbei420 I believe he does accept foreign students judging from what I saw on a TV show called, "Human Weapon", which appeared on the History channel. Kru Preang and the art of Muay Thai Chaiya is showcased in one of the episodes. No, you don't need to know generic Muay Boran to start learning Chaiya Boxing. BUT... it would help you learn the techniques and their poetic names faster since there are similarities among the old styles. It's always good to do your own research and compare notes.

  • @smartchai tae kwon do stand no chanse against muay thai! :P

  • @Jonth93 You can say that again. LOL :D

  • @smartchai well its true ? muay thai is more than just kicks xd

  • @Jonth93 Yes, Muay Thai is much more than just the offensive techniques you always see in the ring. The older styles of Muay Thai such as Muay Chaiya contain a wide variety of highly effective defensive techniques, grappling maneuvers, takedowns, and throws. Hip throws included ! "Old" doesn't mean outdated, in this case. These moves can seriously injure, cripple, or even kill a person which is why you don't see them used in competitions.

  • @smartchai yeah true

  • @smartchai so it is also the case in thailand. in the philippines there are more tae kwon do schools than YAW YAN (some moves are similar to muay thai and engages in full contact matches) and KALI (weapons martial art) training centers. i think the reason is most people dont want to really get hurt while training. they want to have the forms to look like fighters but in reality not strong or skilled enough for true action...as they say "just for show".

  • @smartchai If you wanna learn muay chaiya, go to chaiya o_O the southern part of thailand

  • cool!

  • Well I dont' think you would fine one.....Only Muay Chiaya is still left for now!!!

That's why I said, it's quite sad that we gave more important on TKD

  • its never too late. its part of our heritage, its in our blood :) though me personaly im going to try to find someone that teaches muay uttaradit. its the style that paya pichai daab hak used during the war.

  • Is Muay Uttradit same as Muay Tha Sao.I read they are famous for their faster kicks.did you find teacher.can u say more about this style

  • yeah thats true. but only because muay thai hasnt been promoted as extensively as TKD. when muay thai become san olympic sport im sure it will become a lot more popular in every country around the world.

at teh moment only people who know about muay thai are martial arts fans and peoples who've watched ong bak lol soon muay thai will conquer the world!!!! muahahahahaa (cue lightning)

  • lol I hope so!!! I feel regret not doing Muay Chiaya since I was a little kid. I'll do it once I go back to Thailand if I'm not just a bit too late to learn it :'(

  • i hope u survive the training..leech invsted waters and dangerous jungles...if ucan survive there, u can survive a fight xD

  • lol I guess so, but it's a good deal <3

  • eh..muay thai Chaiya ngan tomoi (muay thai) x sama ko

  • tomoi & muay thai..bezanyo gapo

  • Much respect to the art and the thai people

  • That's right, but I wonder why the heck TKD is more popular then Muay Thai in Thailand? lol

  • because thai youth culture is influenced heavily by japanese and korean culture.

"the grass is always greener on the other side"

  • That's sad........

  • yeah it is. but its one of those natural things that happens in every country.

no one wants to look back at tradition anymore :(

  • I agree with you just some!!! I dont' think Korea is being influenced. My Korean friends do TKD, they dont' do Muay Thai. My Thai friends do TKD and they dont' do Muay Thai as well!!! Kindda weird

  • my korean friends absolutely fascinated about MT. TKD is more well known in the world and LOOKS cooler but its absolutely usless in a real fight situation. I do MT and converted them all when i prove to them how useless TKD really is.

if your doing a martial art because it looks cool then your in it for the wrong reason

  • a lot of koreans are influenced by MT. there are muay thai camps springing up all over korea. TKD is a useless fighting system for real life situations. After beating my korean friends using MT i converted them lol now they all crazy about muay thai. Im taking some to thailand this year to train in thai pahuyuth

  • Well I know that there're some of Muay Thai camps in Korea for sure but I'm pretty sure that Muay Thai in Korea is not as popular as TKD is in Thailand

  • so fuking cool!!! so proud to be thai!

  • aw that trainers cool i see him before but not personally
