My dad's funeral is in a few days. It is the saddest thing I have had to face but I know that we all have these things to get through, as you said Peter. My dad would have said that life has to go on but right now I am feeling pain like I have never felt before.
@Tayplupe I hope you are doing ok, and that im sending you a big hug from canada' ...YOUR PAIN is your own, enbrace it, and dont be afriad to let it change you...because it will. and from that a change of creativity can ensue. learning to move on in a different way...is hard. find your own way...find your pain...and follow the trail of grief you can only follow on your own. and I know you will survive, and one day i will be a bit easier. I promise
@sophside Thank you- very rude of me not to acknowledge your kind words. The day was tough but at the same time, there was a lot of kind words said about my Dad and lots of people loved and respected him and that was a real blessing. Thank you again.
Thank you for posting this video. I like your song and I like the poem. I have made this video a favorite. I just discovered your channel, and I am glad to meet you. You are a very nice man :)
its funny because when i watched this video i had JUST finished writing on a friend of mine's wall, comforting him for having just lost his dad, sometimes I wonder if things are just meant to be.
Thoughtful video Peter, thank you for uploading it. When I was dating my ex, her father died when she was 17. It was very hard, and I was only a year older, so I had no idea what to say or tell her, how to comfort her, or anything. I ended up making the wrong choices and I think in the end I just made the whole process much harder for her. Still haven't really gotten over it. Losing a loved one is hard, and sometimes its even harder to see someone else go through losing a loved one.
Yes, my friend, the loss of a child is the greatest fear!! The poem you read, and read very well touches on "bereavement" as closely to that emotion as i've ever heard... THANKS, Peter!
I'm dealing with grief as I type this comment. This month,is the 1 year anniversary of my son Dale's passing away.It is so difficult because he was only 35 years ago.He was a wonderful and loving person who was always helping anyone that needed help. The results showed that Dale died from a brain hemrhage.Death comes at any time, but I am still glad I viewed this video. Thanks for reading the poem Peter, you read with feeling. Thanks for sharing with us.God love you.
This was really nice, but I turned on the captions which completely ruined the wonderful poem! If you do turn them on, I'm sure you will crack up laughing at what they state the first words Peter says are at 0:28 ....quite appalling really as I can't see Peter opening his video with that statement! I will find that poem online because it would be lovely to read at a funeral :)
I did lose a son in 2004. Did not know how to act or what to say. I see these things in the movies and TV. They always have some dramatic scene and there is a plot to follow. But, with a child, it's like someone has reached through your stomach and tore your heard out leaving a hole which you now have to deal with. It's been years.. but everyonce in a while, like a sniper, it hits you without warning. Driving the car, watching TV, or listening to music. Same feeling. Nothing more to say.
Peter, I come to watch your videos for the comfort you offer. It's a comfort that comes from listening to the wisdom of a life well-lived. I am learning from my own life experience, but also from yours. For example, your video today on bereavement: I have known loss, death, grief, and condolence. Hearing you speak about it and recite the lovely poem, expands what I know. I'll see things with a slightly different, perhaps deeper, view as I try to deal with a loss in my life. Thank you!
I've been so inspired by you Peter that I've started volunteering at the weekends to help older people with computers. I already have a full time job, but I wanted to get involved with this so much that I'm doing it anyway! You are an inspiration!!
@underanindiansky That is wonderful news and I am sure that you too will get much satisfaction from it. It is a task that requires much patience.......we need telling lots of times to even do the simplest thing but we get there in the end.
@underanindiansky thats aweomse im lookin for a job in that area too bad u didnt live in canada i would to talk to older people, so full of inspiration wisdom and life, that its just beautiful
Great poem, Peter! I always take time to watch all of your videos. I would love to see some more videos on your artwork (if you have any more) Cheers!
Excellent video mate, touched my heart, reminded me of my beloved Poppy rest his soul and put me in quite a reflective mood, something I'm not accustomed too I usually forge endlessley ahead burying my emotions as much as possible, it was insightful to pause and reflect. Thank you.
Death is never easy for anyone. I think the most important thing to do is to just be there. Even if you just don't know what to say. Being there, holding a hand, an arm around the shoulder, a hug or just sitting by their side. Beautiful Poem.
@oldgregg93 never as far as I know, it was just a private recording for my own pleasure. I guess that there is a way to get it downloadable on iTunes but I don't know how to do that. I do have a video uploaded where the whole song is played so maybe you could hear it there.
My best friend died recently aged 38. I might read out that poem at his funeral.
