  • Would you be willing to trade the Woodson and or Favre, BTW, Nice autographs!!!

  • @CardCollector8 Two word answer- HECK NO!!! =) Especially not the Woodson. They're impossible to get!! Thanks for the comment!!

  • @Packerscorner lol, hahah, I knew you would say it... That's how you find out if a Packer fan is true or a fake bandwagoner, ask them the following year that they don't win the super bowl if they would be willing to trade they're Packer cards if they say yes they were a bandwagoner the whole time. But obviously your not one because otherwise you wouldn't have they're old school ttm autographs. BTW, Go Pack Go!

  • Do u happen to have the addy for steve young? Thanks and i wish i had you as a teacher!! Ahaha

  • Got my first back today from Steve Largent! Unfortunately, the autograph was really awful, it's really faded and you can barely see it. It's on a 1988 Topps 1000 Yard Club card, so it's kind of glossy, would that be why or did he use a bad pen?

  • @ShadyRepublican -No! Did you erase a bit of the card before sending it in? Not erasing a bit (in my returned card experience) always left the autos faded or bubbled a bit. Grab a few cards that you don't care a lot about and a sharpie and experiment a bit. With this you'll know how much to erase. Also, did you ask him to use a sharpie? When I sent mine off, I always requested they try and use one. Makes a big difference.

  • @ShadyRepublican -All the autos in my videos I erased before sending them in....and they came back OK. Different cards never more or less erasing due to more or less gloss.

  • @ShadyRepublican -The only way to 100% avoid it would be to send them a paint pen....and as much as they cost, that ain't happening!! =)

  • This is an awesome idea! I never thought athletes would respond with autos. Do you have any tips for writing good letters? How do you politely ask for a personalized inscription? Great Vid!

  • @zaandaman - I usually just write to them and express that I am a big fan (football, their team, or them), share a memory of them playing (a throw/catch/etc), tell them I love collecting autographs of my favorite players, and would love to add their signature to my collection. I make sure to say "please" and "thank you," as well as be sure to tell them good luck on their season (or recover from an injury quickly). At times I put "Please sign it "To Troy!" I also ask them to use a sharpie!!

  • @zaandaman - Also, before you send off the cards (I always send 2 cards), be sure to erase a bit of the gloss on the cards with a pencil eraser. I'd practice on a worthless card of different brands to see how much you do or don't have to erase. Than sign the card yourself. This helped me and stopped me from erasing a hole through the card...and also prevents you from not erasing enough (and the auto bubbles or disappears).

  • They might combust?! Lmao! That's awesome! I never thought to put returning postage on s TTM. Yet, another informative awesome vid. My brotha is a wealth of knowledge! Can't tell ya how much I'm lookin forward to the PSA submission

  • @jtulliakat0628 -Putting a return envelope with paid postage is a huge key. I can't wait to see what Monthly Specials are in store for PSA in February!! =)

  • Awesome Video Troy. I used to do this as a kid. I didn't think players signed cards anymore through mail because of personal contracts and sponsorships. It actually brings back a ton of memories.

  • Whenever I Watch your videos, it makes me want to step up my collecting game and or show what I do have. I love your videos Troy, keep up the good work, and Go Pack Go!

  • @brett3xmvpfavre4 -Thanks man!! I just love collecting cards...especially the Pack. As you probably know, collecting goes in spurts (sometimes on...sometimes off)! During the season I'm 'big-time' into it...and usually continue until around June. I usually pick up quite a bit around late May/June....probably cuz' baseball's in full swing and the football deals are out there.

Thank you for your kind words!! And of course....GO PACK GO!!!

  • Troy, I've always enjoyed your enthusiasm about your collecting.

  • @TomTresh2 -Thanks Tom! I loved it as a kid...and I love it as a 'Big Kid!'

  • @Packerscorner

Ok, thanks for the help! (: I'll be sure to send to Greg Jennings, etc. Are there any others that consistently responded to you, or is it just luck if you get the cards back?

  • @ShadyRepublican I believe there is a bit a luck. With so many requests, I've actually received auto'd cards back 2 yrs later (seriously!). Many I don't get back...that's why I stuck to a few stars and a lot of 1st yr players...or players where this is there 1st card.

Example: This years Topps was the first series where the Packers Tramon Williams had a card..period! With that I bet he'd be a better chance due to not having A TON of cards available. I've not tried him yet.

  • @Packerscorner

Ok, thanks, so is the probability of getting an Andre Johnson/Arian Foster, etc. back so small that I shouldn't try it? Also, if a player gets traded to another team, would he be allowed to sign an older card of him on a different team? And do they do them in the offseason, generally? Sorry for all the questions lol, I just got inspired to do something like that after watching XD

  • @ShadyRepublican -Hey man! I'd still send to some of the major players...but don't hold your breathe on getting them back (If you do, it's extra sweet). I've actually had the most success with rookies, traded players, and/or players to sign with a new team (that's how I got my Faulk one). I do get some during the off season...in fact a lot seemed to come in the 2-3 months after the season. The rookies sign simply cuz' their still new to signing. They also sign any team's card they're in.

  • @ShadyRepublican -Coaches who are former players seemed to sign well also. Again.....this is from my own experiences. Some guys just like to sign no matter how many they get (Greg Jennings, etc). Some guys actually sign back to you signed or autopenned pics (Warner for example wouldn't sign your card...he'd send back his auto'd testimony card). The guys who don't sign either just don't want to, only sign for kids, or don't want you to sell their auto. So getting "To _______" is pretty neat.

  • WOW great stuff!!

  • Great stuff,I just started doing this recently...Hope it works out

  • Singletary looks ghost signed

  • @dvitoc -I sent him two cards when he coached LB's for someone (I want to say Ravens?). He signed them both and returned them. I believe I traded or sold the other one. The auto is clear but the darkness of the video hides it a bit. It did match what I saw from other autos online. I just wish he would have put "To Troy."

  • Great stuff man!!

  • @ajaemi76 -Thanks man!!

  • How much time do they usually take to get back?

  • @ShadyRepublican : Depends on the player. Some NEVER come back. It depends on the players. If you only send to 'Super Stars' you probably won't get many back. If you send to your favorite team players (rookies or players who only have a card or two out), you'll get really good responses. Some guys don't return anything. Others use a stamp or autopen. Others are good a signing but only kids. Just trying it out is the only way to find out.

  • @ShadyRepublican -I always did RC or players who were second/third year players who didn't have a card..and ended up having one. I literally have a TON of rc auto's of Packer players before auto'd cards were the norm in packs.

I was told that Favre (back in the day after the SB) received over 500+ pieces of mail a week. Now with Rodgers it may be higher (?). That's why I tried sending one to him as a Rookie (I couldn't afford the RC at the time). =)

  • Do PSA DNA sell as well as PSA cards? R they worth more or less?

  • @TheDemetri08 -Yes...and No!! The regular PSA cards are now usually #'d making them more of a chase card to find. This seems to make them a bit more valuable. But...if you get a PSA/DNA encapsulated auto, you'll be able to sell it for more money simply due to it being authenicated. Example- You can buy a A.Rodgers auto certified right now for $200+...or just get a signed card (that may be real) for $30...and you get it PSA/DNA checked. Both worth quite a bit.

  • Great collection man! Def get that Rodgers PDA DNA. Nice to see an early auto of his!

  • @TheDemetri08 -Thanks! I used to send out 20-30 envelopes to NFL rookies just to see if I could get a few to sign..and hopefully get a possible big name auto for the future!

Rodgers definitely panned out. The ones I didn't show are Don Shula, Greg Jennings, and a few others.
