  • *Ride Of The Valkyries*

  • I would cut my nuts off with a spoon to fly in one of those

  • Comment removed

  • @lukehillwood haha erm yeah.... I forgot to mention the spoon needs to be made from something really rare, like weapons grade plutonium

  • Stupid!

Why did you stop filming at the moment they pass?! :S

  • The Spitfire was probably the most beautiful or graceful looking WW2 fighter. The Mustang FW 190 and Corsair all had their own "look" about them call it handsome "cool" or whatever.

  • ahhh, the toaster of the sky. id rather be in a tempest or mosquito.

    jk this is beast

  • To hear one Merlin is a delight, to see and hear that lot ...

  • i would sell my left testicle to own one of those

  • Would be great to see a few more Bf109's & fw190's flying too.

  • Those beauties are the reason there aren't any flying ; )

  • That's about 44 airworthy Spits throughout the world

  • sad theres only 2 lancasters still flying

  • @Frye666 if you think that's a lot of spitfires check out my video from the weekend - search 16 spitfire pass

  • @Frye666 there were 16 flying at Duxford last summer!

  • Spitfires are the knights of the skies.

  • the spit had very limited use and as long as it was fighting in jolly ol england

  • so what did you have?

  • Wrong. Spitfires and Seafires were used all over the war theaters. Europe, Atlanctic, Pacific, Asia.

  • @Gripen90 ,

Don't get me wrong, the spit was agreat plane but was limited to a front line fighter. The messerschmitt Bf109 was a comparable plane. The spit had the fortune of fighting in it's own turf. The germans had to travel pretty far to england did not have the fuel capacity to really engage the brits before they had to head back to france before running out of fuel.

  • True it was a frontline fighter, but certainly not limited in use or capability. Yes the Spitfire had "short legs", but dispite that it still it was used in every theater of WW2. It fullyfilled many various roles so I can't really agree with that it was "limited in use". It may not have had the range of P38, P47 etc, but it was still in service by the frontline everywhere.

True it was an air superiority fighter for point defense, - not for deep interception/interdiction.

  • @Gripen90

Don't forget that the Spit was also used in North Afirca

  • It's just... Beautifull view...

  • Magic.

  • This year at the Revival, the Royal Marine Marching band played Jerusalem then on the last cymbal clash of the song a host of British WWII planes flew low overhead and everyone started crying! Fantastic.

  • I agree! That's an absolutely mind boggling sight to see that many Spits in formation. Where are they all from?

  • words cant express the sensation of seeing that lot flying overhead,
