  • no steve not the yankees!!!

  • @theyearofourlordig88

Sorry, but from what I have read, Earle had been a pretty serious Yankee fan since he was a kid. I know he makes time for games while on tour.

  • Very nice.

  • love steve earle.. some amazing songs lyrically and a great voice.

love the wire. greatest show ever.

literally just realised its him!!!!!lol just listened to marie(bout 12 times in a row!) and realised never known what he looks like... couldnt believe it!!!

    legend.

  • man listen to that awesome sound on that gitar.

  • We need more artists like Steve and Woody today.

  • These are the verses designed for singing at Tea Party meetings - for all the radicals in US jails, the people out in Wisconsin, the IWW and Un-Americans - this land was made for you (and me a Brit) all you got to do is Take It from the 400 who own it now.

  • he does a great job capturing the emotion of this song. im glad i got to hear it.

  • God bless, Steve Earle! What an amazing (albeit at times tragic and harrowing) life this man has led...a true American icon and national treasure. It just goes to show, no matter how deep and dark of a hole you dig yourself down into with drugs and alcohol, there is always hope and always a way out. If you want to live and enjoy life again, all you have to do is start clawing your way back up and you can turn it around. Never lose hope....never lose faith.

  • Anyone have the chords for this version???

    Love it!!

  • arnove, it's a nice version... STEVE is so cool.

  • Bruce did this when I saw him on the River tour at Wembey (London) in, I guess, 1981. I bet these two are friends.

  • @survivingbeliever yeh ur right they are friends i was at a steve earle show in sea bright new jersey back in the late 90,s bruce came on stage unannounced and they done 5 songs together including state trooper and dead flowers by the stones it was fantastic,it was a small club maybe 3-400 people.

  • Still rocks it

  • Well, I've been a Steve Earle for a hundred years, been able to see him many times, met him several and he's about the most reguglar guy you can find, a passionate patriot, a man with a heart as the country he love and the music he writes. god bless Steve Earle, now and always...

  • this is my land, Ireland will be united

  • Atta boy!! You make bob dylan look bad.

  • @oboma8

    Idiot.!!!

  • Gotta love Steve Earle. Rock on.

  • skateboarders i know would enjoy the verse that starts at 2:26

  • As a skateboarder who has been arrested for tresspassing once... yes we do! :)

  • Look up Woody Guthrie on Wikipedia,it will tell how the song was adapted in many countries including Ireland. Woody wrote the song as a protest song just after Irving Berlin's song God Bless America was released.

  • @tgjguitar Gotta love the old man! truth is truth!

  • I wonder if I can just take a stroll through Steve's front gate, up his long driveway, and just knock on his front door...hmmm. Something tells me no.

  • I don't know... he might let you. I met him once a few years ago while he was shopping in Cambridge uk, and was really cool. Told me about some books he had bought and gave me some tickets to his sold out show that night!!!

    been a huge fan since

  • well, he lives in New York City. so probably yes.

  • Steve Earle is the man! Copperhead Road!

  • Well done dude!

  • Wow, you are completely clueless. All the artist is ...is his beliefs.....that's what fuels the fire....Fight the fight Stevie..progress is finally peaking through the dark clouds of the last eight years.

  • I don't know if you can seperate the artist form the artists beliefs. Why would you want to? What you call "radical" others call overdue. Peace

  • Everyone who ever sang a song is `pushing' their view of the world onto everyone else. Surely every communication is saying something about who we are, what we think and feel?

  • @brianshelli one of he greatest gifts of living in this country is being able to share your points, religious, political or personal without the fear of being one of the disappeared or having a bullet in the back of your head. Steve's voice will never be old, I'm sorry you can't see why.

  • one of the best songs ever written and this was a great rendition. my favorite is by ani difranco. does anyone have a video of her singing it?

  • also my favorite. have never seen a video.

  • Woody Guthrie wrote "This Land Is Your Land" in 1940,recorded it in 1944.

  • woddy wrote this song my friend.

  • you're a dolt

  • The lineage holder Viva Steve. Jai Steve.

  • Can't Beat it! 5tarz!

  • he's my favorite performer...

  • Thanks Steve that was fantastic. loved those lost lirics.

  • of course, in my little book, Steve can really do no wrong, and i love him singing this....he's coming to Minneapolis March 9 and i can't wait!!

  • oh yah. you reminded me that hes in Winnipeg the next day. that a girl!

  • Still as relevant today as it was when written, and Steve sings it in true Woody Guthrie spirit. Thank God for Steve Earle. THANKS!
