I lost my first foal 14 months ago, then my little stallion died from a seizure a month ago. Fortunately my mare is pregnant with his foal, but I'm begining to worry that it's twins. She's got 3 months to go & is much larger than when she delivered the last one. Healthy twins would be a blessing, but I'm worried about the possibility of losing my mare in foaling. Any suggestions??
Watching all these videos of twins makes me wish I would have taken videos of my twins, Sasha and Miah, when they were born. I have many pictures, but never got around to videos.
Miah had NO balance what-so-ever at first and couldn't stand up for the first 2 days and was slightly smaller, but she was running around with Sasha after about a week. They are turning 3 this year, and they are HUGE for twins. The surprising part was you almost couldn't tell my mare was pregnant, let alone with twins!
I'm sorry about Striker, when I first saw the video I thought they werent twins because they were both runnin around like two unrelated babies, At least Striker survived two months, usually one of the twins, both twins, or the mother dies within hours or days
I am sorry to hear about Striker, my sympathies go out to you. I would like to say, however, that Ginger and I share a birthday! Mine is also March 26th
August 9, 2008 Ginger is doing wonderful. She loves people and attention. I do have updated photos of her, but they are not on youtube. If any one would like to see them just send me a message.
I just can not believe some people, they jump all over you before they ask questions... it must be terribly sad, when they are so depressed they try to make others the same way....
I truely feel sorry for people like this....
Thank you for your compliment, Ginger is a goofy lil girl... she is doing very well and seems to find herself on the other side of the fence all the time, I keep telling her that grass isn't greener... but she doesn't listen....haha...
Sorry about your loss. Twins are rare and hard to keep healthy. Good luck with the other one!! Paints rule!! Yes I love and own QH too! Before anyone leaves a stupid comment.
Sadly Striker was laid to rest on Friday, May 9, 2008. We took him outside and he enjoyed that, then we laid him in a bed of straw with the warm sun shinning on him he was put to sleep forever... We will miss his lil nickers... I love you Striker!!!
No he was healthy and not weak, but his legs couldn't keep up with his weight gain and the amount of activity he wanted to do. They did not calcify before he was born, so once he started to gain weight and became more active, his knees became knock kneed and he had crushed the bones in his two front legs and one hind leg. He did this in a matter of two weeks. If his bones would of calcified it would of been a matter of them straightening... he would of always been in pain.
They are wearing sweaters, because they were having a hard time regulating their body temperature and I did not have a foal blanket small enough. Nor did I have a dog blanket. I have since purchased dog blankets for each foal. They are Paints. Mom is a registered QH and dad is a registered paint, foals will both be registered as paints.
Both twins are now 3 days old and both are doing very well. We did purchase them dog coats now so they look normal..haha. I will be posting another video soon.
OMG. they are wearing little kid sweaters. that is so cute.
