  • Will someone help me out. Dreamcast can play online but can someone like tell me step by step? and is this game and unreal tournament online?

  • @teh2Dgamer I read your description. Did you know there are STILL active online servers? There's a few people here on youtube that give us server status updates, and to my surprise they're still up and running. They also play it on a weekly basis. Keeping a great thing alive really...

  • @SilverGalford I think that was in Tony Hawk 3 but not sure... that was a music track...

  • @SilverGalford Yeah, that's a old Hip-hop track from the 90's Chorus was: Jump Around! Pretty appropriate regarding the game :p

  • I Luved this game i had the mouse the keybored the works, luved it big time, now i play quake 3 and 4 on my p.c., they were the days

  • @SilverGalford Van halen - "1984"

  • @SilverGalford Tyler Perry?

  • Q3A and COD4 are the best games in the world!

  • @Desbravad0r Q3? Maybe. CoD4? No.

  • hoy many medals are in the a game? for example excellent impressive and gauntlet hum.

  • quake 3 arena >>>>> mw2

  • @FastandFurious450 Hell yeah.

  • hey. i know the music is done by sonic mayhem, but i really wanna know the name of this particular song. can anyone help?

  • I love this game and background music too

Too bad that Quake III Arena Pc doesn't have the background music

  • Going to my mates house soon, and im bringing my dreamcast with this game ;)

  • DAMN I wanna play Quake III on Dreamcast again!!!!!

  • Quake 3 does not really bog down in 4 player, the frame rate drops but there's not that much slow down and the game easily remains playable.

To play it properly you really need mouse and Keyboard, it really does make a huge difference, however if you spend a lot of time customising the joystick controls you can get it to a pretty good level of control (I spent ages dropping the and raising the sensitivity until I had it just right)

  • @jesusarnold The good thing about the game is that is 100% customizable in the controls. I wish more modern console FPS games would follow suit.

  • Fantastic console. This game was great.

  • How do you move the camera? Do you use a keyboard and mouse or did they find a way past the one stick problem?

  • I'm using the DC's controller with one stick.

It does support the DC keyboard and mouse as well.

  • @teh2Dgamer

    What are the controls?

  • Move with the face buttons, and aim with the analog stick. Jump with the left trigger, and shoot with the right, but to be honest, the controls are 100% customizable. Even with the controller. Obviously a KB and mouse combo is the best way to control it, but the controller is decent once you get used to it.

I don't have a DC mouse myself, but I do have the Keyboard oddly enough.

  • I started out on this version and was disappointed with the PC version's soundtrack. I really wish the DC soundtrack would end up in Quake Live, but the last I checked there wasn't any DC tracks, not even in the formerly DC exlcusive maps (they just have no track). The DC soundtrack suited the game A LOT better, with only Campgrounds having a more suited track in the PC version.

  • I don't remember much if any lag in the four-player split screen mode for this game, but I remember Unreal Tournament being practically unplayably choppy with three or four players off-line.

  • This version also has new music while the ps2 version still had the pc game's music. I really enjoyed these new tracks.

  • lol playing quake 3 with a joypad must have been horrible

  • he could buy (use) a mouse,

    is dreamcast

  • I'll get a DC mouse some day.

  • I have Q3 for PS2 and loading time is really annoyng. Just found Q3 for DC on our local web site for 18EUR.

  • @prulcan I only rented the PS2 version years ago, and the thing I remember the most about it is those long a** load times.

  • I was ADDICTED to the Rail. Beast of a gun

  • Awesome. I remember running up a RIDICULOUS phone bill playing this online. Worth every penny. HardBastardsClan OWNS YOUUUUUU

  • What part of I'm aiming with a fucking Dreamcast controller, and not a mouse do you not understand douche bag?

    Go FUCK YOURSELF Your Blocked

  • @aerzy999

that's the console verson you fucking idiot

  • the HUD looks very cool, this is a cool version :D

  • Good times playing this in 2000.

  • Is it possible to bring down the console and change the picmic level and stuff like that in the Dreamcast version?

  • Not that I know of. As expected, the console version aren't nearly as customizable as the PC versions.

  • The singleplayer bots have better AI than the PS2 :D

  • omg quake live bring back the dc music plz ;)

  • lol ye :DD

  • well....i have both PS2 and DC..and played alot both versions of Q3...for me the DC's version looks better....with better textures, effects and lightning ,music...just shoot a rocket and see how the light that comes from it likes odd like a blob in the PS2 version...XD

  • Can you use a SegaNet Keyboard/Mouse for Q3A?

  • Yep.

  • pad sucks pityfull compared to Quakelive footage with a mouse ...

  • I think you can actually play with the Dreamcast's keyboard and mouse, I am not entirely sure on that, but I remember hearing something about it.

  • Yep, but I don;t have the Dreamcast mouse. I have the keyboard, but that does me no good without the mouse. Unreal Tournament also supports a keyboard and mouse combo.

  • i still cant beleive dreamcast has Quake III Arena!

  • Yep, and there are even a few severs for the Dc version still up here and there to play it online.

The PS2 also has Quake III, but no online.

  • and their putting Q3 on the xbox live arcade but i think it'll be more like quake live

  • @consolehacker54 I still can't belive teh dc port looks better than the ps2 one.

  • @BillyCauseyjr The DC was better at textures than the PS2.

  • @teh2Dgamer Don't know about that, they also said the Megadrive had blast processing making it better graphics than SNES, but Megadrive won in presentation and fun.

  • @steve5123456789 Which comment are you referring to? If it's about the texturing, the DC had crisper, more detailed textures due to having twice the V-ram of the PS2. That being said, the PS2 still was a lot more powerful, and had better graphics overall. The DC had some really nicely detailed textures though. Shenmue was a good showpiece of that.

  • It takes some getting used to, but you can learn how to play decently with a controller. This I just play for bot matches away from my computer. When I want to just relax in front of my TV.

I know the UT on the DC has auto aim out the butt. This one has no auto aim, so it makes rail hits very hard to get.

  • Yea! I had this with keyboard+mouse. Also the vga box for my P.C. monitor. And I give it all away :( to my younger brother who give it away and I never saw it again :( My friend still has one+a copy of the game. I'd buy it from him if he wanted to sell it! Great game and you could play it in 3rd person, if you wished!

  • Sega dreamcast... go figure :D

  • This game is still online actually for the Dreamcast, I used to host servers from the PC version with the dreamcast mappack :D

  • I know that there are a few servers out there still floating around for this game.

I've got the PC version anyways, so, if i want to experience the game online, I'll just play that version. This version is fun for some mindless bot fragging though.

  • I know that there is a unique Phantast Star online server that Dreamcast players can join pc gamers online toghter... I **love* my dreamcast!!The only system I know of that plays games for 7 systems-

NES,SNES Genesis,Dreamcast(o' coarse)Neo-Geo,M.A.M.E(arcade coin-op emulator)P.s.x 1,as well theres several pc games that have been mnodde to run on DC,Quake 1,q2(no sound)...

  • do people still play on dreamcast online multiplayer? anyone know?

  • I think there was still a Quake III server up until recently. I', not sure if it's been taken down, or if it's only up on occasion. Other than that, I do believe that all the rest of them are now dead.

I know that Phantasy Star Online was still up in Japan until about a year or two ago.

  • How can you play this since the dreamcast controller only has one analog stick?

  • Well, for those who have the Dreamcast mouse, this game fully supports it.

I just have the controller, and I use the face buttons to move forward, back, strafe left, and strafe right, and I use the analog stick to aim.

It's kinda like Turok on the N64 was.

  • this was a good port. it even had online multiplayer and mouse support

  • What control configuration do you use with the DC version?

  • Well the entire control configuration is completely customizable, but without the DC mouse, I use the face buttons to move forward, back, strafe left, and strafe right, and the analog stick to aim.

It takes some practice to get used to aiming with your left thumb.

It's kinda like the control for Turok on the N64, except no auto aim help, so you've gotta be right on with your shots.

  • I see.

I find the face buttons really spaced out from eachother and hard to use in this game.

  • Really? The DC face buttons don't feel any more spaced out than any other controller's do to me.

However, this game is a pain in the ass to control without a DC mouse. Even in bot matches.

  • Exactly.

It's really a shame because this port looks SO good.

I just don't have the money and space to buy 2 sets of mouse and keyboard to play this game with my friend... That, and the mouse looks terrible.

  • I remember seeing a little USB adapter thingy that let you use a USB mouse with your DC, but I'm not sure how well it worked. It was a 3rd party prehiprial.

  • I love this game, i had it on PC

  • This was a huge deal when it first came out. One of the first big DC games with online multiplayer!

  • i have this on pc its so bad ass

  • I've got the PC version as well. It's definitely the best version, but the DC version isn't bad. It's only worth a look out of curiosity now though, because it doesn't have online play anymore.
