@robertorrt 9800 GT is ok but 4850 is a bit better. You can also choose a Geforce GTS 250 which is a newer and better 9800 GT model, or you can get ATi 4870 or 4890 or Geforce 260 GTX if you have a bit bigger budget.

My cousin has 9800 GT and a 4core cpu (Q6600) and all games run very nice on his pc.

yes but my opinion is that we can play ALL games with a 9800gt 1gb.,, some guys says: the games run better with a gtx 295 (expensive!!!) or . hd 5870!"!! ...... and the official web of nvidia says 9800gt is a medium graphics card. but I think they say that because they want to sell the new expensive cards. and that cards are not necessary to play a game .. so i will buy 9800gt .

@robertorrt Those cards are not necessary to play a game but they are ready for the future and faster, thats why it cost so much money but for all games already released a 9800 GT is OK but we can`t say how well it is in not-released games :)

Fallout 3, COD 4, COD 5, COD 6, F.E.A.R. 2, Dead Space, L4D2, Far Cry 2, Bioshock, should all be good at 1920x1200 and maxed settings, or close to max settings.

Probably even on the 512 MB version, but having 1024 MB won't hurt.

Still a very popular card, since it can do all that, and not everyone is at that high of resolution, anywhere from $80 to $140, nice deal.

Ah sure.

Batman Arkham Asylum recommends the 9800 GT. Resident Evil 5 and Mass Effect 2 recommend the 8800 GT, the 9800 GT is just the 8800 GT but a little more efficient.

I have a question for you though:

I have the same graphic as you( 9800gt the brande is other, and its 1gb )

2gigs of ram

BUT, a pentium 4, running at 4,3Ghz

and some games like, crysis, lag a little bit when there is too much "thing" going on! ( not bioshock though, just has weird frame drops O.o )

would you think with a Q8200(2.33GHz/1333MHz/4MB BOX) the games would have better performance??

I guess you have socket 775 and the Q8200 would make a huge difference for example in GTA4 and other new games, but it`s still better to buy a Q6600 and overclock it than the Q8200 :)

I think even the E5200 stock like mine would be much better than you`re pentium 4, so you can grab it, it isn`t really expensive + you can overclock it too ;)

I don`t really know how good the Q8200 is but I know that it isn`t very good for OC but if you don`t need OC it should be OK for you :) watch some gameplays with the 8200, there should be some combinations with Q8200 and 9800GT on youtube :)

Yeah I can max the game out. Zero lag on maximum settings. But if you want to play next generation games like GTA4 or CoD6 you gannna need a quad CPU. At least for the highest and best graphics. But I can play CoD:MW2 on pretty good settings. So if you don't want like maximum graphics or don't have much money, I would recommend you to get a dual core, 4gb RAM and a HD4870. And you should be fine for atleast 2 years.

There's a huge difference between a HD4870 and a GT9800. Trust me man. But GTA4 might work better if you overclock your cpu to 3.2ghz. The game was made to run on quad cpu's though. I have a hard time running it at good settings too.

Sorry, but there is no such thing like graphic settings for all games :( it`s an individual thing I played this game with 1280x1024 ( I had an older monitor ) with HIGHEST graphic options but GTA4 wih middle options ..

Yes you should buy the athlon and upgrade the CPU :) The Q8200 is ok but not as good as the II955 take the 955 and you will have a pc for future :) probably you wont have to upgrade your graphics card for some time because the 4870 is really nice :)
