  • DISINFO!

  • checkout my videos also, I agree, the moon is acting very strange!

  • interesting... saw bright lights in several spots.

  • When I watched this, I 1st thought that "this is the answer to all those tilted moon videos on YouTube"!

But after watching it a few times, did I realize that the moon I saw tonight, is at least "tilted 40 degrees to the right", & not at all like you have here...

  • @crlwllns it all depends where you are viewing it from on the planet! but keep an eye on it from your view point and see if it changes!

    Peace

  • @biggordy100 Where I am in Tampa, Florida the Moon has been a half moon for a few days now. The thing is, is that "it's not a vertical half (like in the video.), but a horizontal half". Is this normal for this time of year??

Also, if one looks at it once an hour, it seems to be "doing a pole shift"! As it turns to the right, & doesn't stop, until it's right side up again in a.m.The thing is, is that if the moon isn't shifting its poles, maybe the Earth is. And without what science has shown.

  • amillionmonkeys.blog.com if you're smart, you'll love it.

  • kinda confused... i thought one side of the moon is beyond the sun ray's reach?

  • WHO CARES ABOUT THE MOON?! it doesn't do anything really .. ... .

  • damn... you need to get rid of that acne

  • Awesome video and song choice!

  • Thanks for using my music "Sticky Bumps (feat. Debbizo)" in this video! I love time-lapse photography, and I follow the moon cycle closely as I am a gardener. Very cool!

I enjoyed reading all the funny comments about the music too. The track is available for free download under creative commons lic. at

    ccmixter.org/files/jlbrock44/32247

Would love to create more music for your vids in the future.

  • Fonkay...really dig your music choices...

  • you are in awe of this, too bad you cant see the other side, where lay a dormant alien robot ship.....you think neil armstrong went to the moon just for some rocks?

  • You guys are stupid, the craters are artillery holes from WWI...

  • @laxwolf

Nonsense! Those holes were created by water exploding up from the Earth when the biblical flood happened! Any young Earth creationist would tell you that...

  • like a year is anything to theh moon what a dumb idea the sthing is so much older than that and the surface it change over milenia of bombing

  • Elevator music and the moon...exciting.

  • @osirus5891

So complex music is elevator music...hmm, interesting upside down view of the world you have there. I presume Lady Ga Ga must be the height of all art then.

  • @geffel This song has no lyrics and its notes are somewhat repeated in a continuous loop. So in this instance yes it reminds me of elevator music not that all "complex" music as you call it is bad or good. It simply sounds like elevator music. It was meant as a simple joke.

  • looks like such an exciting life, i wish i was the moon xD

  • I think we should nuke the moon - it's life is pretty miserable.

  • omg lol i love it it looks so funny in its rotation

  • I would have laughed if at the end it exploded.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Moon takes a pic of himself every dayy for one whole year.

  • Moon takes photo of himself everyday for a whole year!

  • way cool

  • @Bolef2k the term for that is tidal locking, for more information u can google it..but this is just what happens when two body in orbit eventually settles into this synchronous rotation where one the spin matches the orbit its taking around the sun so that they always face each other. pluto and its moon also does this.

  • @Bolef2k Wikipedia, "Far side of the Moon".

  • 720p would be nice...

  • You peed in my cheerios and it tastes like vanilla ice cream.

  • This is some realy fast time lapse photography.

  • umm is this moon porn o.e

  • Finally just the proof i need! My wife claims she's on the moon once a month, but I didn't see her there anywhere.

  • @bikingforbrie but dude, you're not viewing see the dark side !! lol

  • @katsandroses Oh wow good point! I once read witches come from the dark side of the moon... it's all so clear to me now.

  • Moon takes a picture of himself every day for one year.

  • @mutetus Yeah. I wonder what he expects to see from his own picture... He hasn't changed much for years.

  • wow i was just htinking someone should do exactly this :D aweosme

  • Bit boring...

  • "it's the first time a computer simulation has reproduced the shadows on the moon in such high resolution."

Then you post the video on 360. O_O That's low not high resolution

  • @Bolef2k its the rotation of Earth and moon, making the same side always facing Earth, no its NOT impossible for our equipment to fly behind.. in fact its been done many times before? what exactly is "suspicious"? you are not one of those people that think moon landing is a hoax are you...just because you didn't take 3 seconds to look it up... doesn't mean there is a conspiracy

  • And i thought my life was boring... Wow! Same thing with little to no change over and over again...

  • Man I wanna check out the dark side of the moon... FOR SCIENCE!

  • I never knew the moon actually moved....

  • @djsuperstar717 .........DURR HURRR.

  • @Haroids No need to be a jerk about it. It's an extremely slow wobble and there's no way for someone to notice it except for close study or some kind of video like this.

  • @barhamd The moon rotates around the Earth, sir. As does the Earth around the Sun.

  • @Haroids I could be wrong since I am not djsuperstar717, but I assumed he was referring to the wobble that the moon has, not the orbit. But I can see how you would think he was referring to the orbit.

  • If you came thumbs up!

  • anal moon

  • Of course it's a computer simulation, no telescope can observe the moon, non-stop, for a whole year. Sometimes it will be on the other side of the planet.

  • I came.

  • omg the moon is drunk

  • Comment removed

  • You kids always think anything that isn't heavily distorted guitar and screaming is porn music.

  • @canadianeh24 You can't see the Earth because Earth is the reference point, ie it was shot from the Earth's surface, as for the Sun it is way out of the frame owing to the Moon's orbit being inclined to the Earth's equator, other wise there would be regular Solar and Lunar eclipses.

  • that is so beautiful =|

  • Sex Moon!

  • I like this music. Like.

  • soooo where are the stars? am i missing something here? wouldnt they be spinning like crazy behind it, or wheres the sun/earth aswell. did they edit them out cause the sat might get lens flair from that and the sun? or is this a complete 3d rendered model?

  • @canadianeh24 The moon is much brighter than background stars. So they do not show up with the short exposures necessary to capture the moon.

  • @Core5 but its not even showing up when its 3/4 to new moon. so no light shows up at all. ionno if i believe this is real :S i want to but i have doubt

  • @canadianeh24 Article says that its a computer simulation. lame

  • @canadianeh24 We are both wrong and correct, in our own way. I am correct that stars would not normally appear in images taken of the moon. But you are correct that to capture the earth glow on the face of a new moon, would require an exposure that reveals stars.

This is in fact a very accurate simulation produced by Goddard Space Flight Center's Scientific Visualization Studio. We could have both saved ourselves some trouble by simply reading the article, rather than making assumptions.

  • @Bolef2k We can't see it from Earth, but we can see it if we fly with our telescopes to the other side.

  • look at that moon, doin its job, absorbing planet killers, creating tidal effect, heating our core. thank you moon. oh and a night lite

  • AND stilll.... NO..... 720p!

please scientist... evolve, you are about science right... science is HD!

also nice to see a place in the world that doesnt know what clouds are.

  • Comment removed

  • @Bolef2k only Pink Floyd can do it man :) xD

  • @Bolef2k We never see the other side of the moon cuz thats where the NAZI MOON BASE was! They dont want you to know we lost the space race before it began ;)

  • @Bolef2k wiki the "far side of the moon" ....

  • @Bolef2k

since when does a round object have sides?

  • @mitsukai89 ... Since porn was invented, of course.

  • @mitsukai89 lol it has at least one side. And also an inside but not sure if that counts :P (it would if it was hollow)

  • @Bolef2k We can't see the dark side of the moon from earth because the moon and earth spin and rotate in a way to where we only see one side. There have been some spacecraft that took pictures of the other side but it was fairly smooth with few craters. Still a mystery as to why though!

  • I'm 36, that's just music. Just because it doesn't have a celeb, Akon or Simon Cowell attached doesn't make it porn music

  • which place which angle which side O.o.. lots of questions! i dont think this was taken from earth... umm... makes u think....

  • @oxGCxo NewScience is in Cahoots with the UFOS O.O

  • Moon is all like, "Hey. How you doin?"

  • they shud do this but with the earth

  • For some reason... I love the way it swivels...

  • Why the roll ?

  • @RevDevilin axis of earth rotation is different from moon orbital axis

  • @mam16cm thanks

  • Best... Porno... Evar.

  • that damn rabbit

  • How about in a year in at least 480p? :(

  • It's amazing how moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth and always showing the same face. Also sun eclipse ... because of the exact size of the moon and the distance from sun it looks like the moon is as big as the sun ... amazing coincidences

  • @Examinator91 well it isn't a coincidence. The side of the moon that you and I can see has some heavier stuff underground than the other side. When the moon was formed all those heavier elements were pulled by the earth to one side and when it cooled down and became solid is the moon got locked in that position because earth pulls harder on that denser side, making it face us.

The distance is coincidence and will only remain like this for a couple hundred thousand years. We're very lucky :)

  • @Niosus That's right, the moon is going away from Earth about 5 cm per year.

  • I wish I could see Wheatley. He's here somewhere?

  • Looks like a pendulum.

  • naughty LOL

  • The music was the best part.

  • @wtfisditvoorbullshit Thanks for liking the music!

  • song?!! it makes me feel like im masturbate in space

  • The moon does a sexy dance!

  • This is somewhat hypnotic.

  • perfect balance....

  • I was hoping for some info or something... Dissapointed

  • 4 pi

  • It's like it's doing a dance!

  • Kind of wobbly

  • He's so bright and mikly white

    Shining down upon the ground

    He's so bright, milky white

    Shining down upon the ground

    Everybody look at the moon

    Everybody seeing the moon

The moon is bright, he's milky white

    Everybody look at the moon

  • Funky Moon!

  • Ooooh yeeeaaaah, baby! Harvest Moon! Come get some!

  • Great video. Wish it was in HD, though

  • This is so interesting, I almost stifled a yawn.

It means, I suppose, that the moon's two visible wobbling movements are not synchronized with its phases.

  • Sexy music, lol, but seriously, awesome vid

  • Somebody did a lot of running to film this.

  • this video is old

  • I propose this music become the national anthem for the moon.

  • Comment removed

  • @9thgate Hahaha! Sticky Bumps as the Moon's National Anthem! Never in a million years would I have thought of that.

  • Why are all the comments on these videos so childish?

  • @the12221 because children watch the videos.

  • @the12221 They're YouTube user comments. "notorious" for "some of the most confrontational and ill-formed comment exchanges on the internet" (Daily Telegraph Sep 2008) What do you expect?

  • its clockwise.

  • nice music... use so imagination and lick the moon :)

  • The best New Scientist video for a while.

    Crap music

  • ugh...this gets boring

  • i dont think this is 2 and a half minutes worthy, its the same thing over and over again, not even a full rotation

  • @orangebluemango

That might be because the moon doesn't rotate fully relative to earth.

  • @orangebluemango what do u mean a full rotation? this shows the moon relative to earth... you are unable to see the other side of the moon from earth.... the moon is nearly always facing the same direction in relation to earth.

  • @Pribnik you just stated what i said, its the same shit over and over again, it doesnt change. it would be more interesting had it been a rotation of the moon. go here

    watch?v=FCKmZXhVvkQ

this is the video minus the google earth editing. the oroginal is only less than 30 seconds

  • @orangebluemango ah ok. I misunderstood you it would seem. I think this one here is so long as it is meant to simulate an entire year (12 cycles right? ). I see your point though. There is no reason for it. Why not just show one cycle :)

  • @Pribnik you put through a good argument, nice talking to you

  • @Pribnik Try comparing the position of the moon's features at different full moons.

  • the moon still looks the same

  • For a nerdy eye, this is Porn.

  • Damn porn music everywhere

  • Awesome video... but what's with the porno music?

    Sexy moon?

  • @rossexton it's too fast for porno music

  • @rossexton have you never whacked one out to the moon b4??? 64

  • Comment removed

  • It's in the waxing phase.

  • @rossexton You must be watching higher quality porn than i...

  • Preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeety...

  • wow amazing
