I think what made Elvis so emotional in this concert was that both Priscilla and Lisa Marie were in the audience. This is from the bootleg "Desert Storm", and he does introduce both. It is one of the longest and best/strangest concerts he ever gave. (1) Only Elvis "worshipers" think Elvis didn't cheat! .In my opinion, some of the reason Elvis and Priscilla's relationship didn't work was the gap between when Elvis left Germany in Mar. '60 when Priscilla was almost 15, and Priscilla moved to Graceland in Mar 63 when she was almost 18, did not allow the relationship to mature. They had only seen each other for two short visits in '62, and both had dated others. Elvis had affairs plus had gf Anita Wood at Graceland until Aug 62.
(2) There is NO evidence that Elvis had any kind of mental or emotional "breakdown" after Priscilla left, and he had always had trouble sleeping. He was upset briefly, but then went on with many women. As early as '69, Elvis was seen publicly making out with two beauties in Vegas, and when told how good he looked said: "That's what a bad marriage will do for you!" This made national gossip columns. Priscilla flew in from CA to tell Elvis she was leaving him and didn't love him Dec 30, 1971.

Yes Elvis tried to get her back,but he also tried to get Ann Margret back in 68 and a number of times in 72-73. Books used Grualnick's "Careless Love" "Elvis: Day by Day, People 97,etc.

Well Elvis could sing some what. Elvis had a special microphone with an eco chamber in to make his voice sound deeper. Elvis much like some other singers had to try drugs to keep up their fast pace life style. Johnny Cash also used drugs to be able to work all the shows that he did. My father was a close friend of Johnny Cash and named my brother after him. Elvis was not a bad person but, he was dating a underage girl.

I think what made Elvis so emotional in this concert was that both Priscilla and Lisa Marie were in the audience. This is from the bootleg "Desert Storm", and he does introduce both. It is one of the longest and best/strangest concerts he ever gave. This is the same concert he swears and tells everyone he has never been "strung out" in his life when there were rumors of him being high and not really sick.

He sang it like he never would again. The only live recording of the guy's true feelings. This was in 1974. "she took my reasons for living!" His heart and soul in this performance. Fantastic and sad at the same time. The King, straight from his heart. It was the only time he narrated the dialogue. Great guy though, they'll never be another Elvis.

Elvis did a lot of talking in songs in 74 and realized it didn't go down too well.
Not much of it from then on.
Elvis also had a big outburst at the same time about someone who had written a bad article about him and Elvis said live "If I find out who that SOB is who wrote that article i'm going to pull his tounge out by THE ROOTS" It's on the Desert storm CD and on Youtube.
Sept 74 was also when Elvis was doing his Karate film{shame it never got finished} some of that is also on Youtube.

About making choices: I think "Colonel" Parker was under the thumb of the mafia in Las Vegas (look at his incredible gambling debts) and that's why Elvis had to keep on performing even when he had serious health problems. I think, later on, Elvis was in a situation he had no control over. It was pretty awful for him.

this concert was done in 1974 at the hilton . the difference is pricilla was in the audience and it was just days before cilla got a lawyer and sued elvis again for 1.4 million and had all the child monthy allowances adjusted . elvis was all coked up and quite angry.

but just because they may have both had affairs does not mean elvis always thought pricilla was dearer than all the other women. Sometimes its when the person leaves the other realises whom their heart aches for. Arguments at the time can make each look to others. Pricilla was with Elvis for quite a while. He may still have been saddened by her the rest of his life. And his daughter by this song seems to be his will for living. He may still be broken by divorce even tho saw others

so sad, they both had faults. Elvis loved women. Priscilla finally couldn't live the roller coaster prescription drug life style. Her having the affair with Mike Stone, Elvis's Karate coach must have really been a kick in the gut. But Lisamarie was sooo loved by her parents. Sometimes marriages end but you still love your spouse but you can't live with them. It is far easier to be a sad widow than a sad ex spouse still in love.

Dear God this is so sad on so many levels. This is a prime example of why I prefer to listen to/watch Elvis in his earlier years. I remember what my [late] mother told me when Elvis died. "Elvis died many years ago." I pray that his troubled soul is at peace and rest.

@ibm198708 Elvis fell apart, and was incredably lonely. he said, "he could stand in a room of 200 people, and still be lonely" His manager worked him really hard to pay for his managers gambling problem and (towards the end of his life) Elvis wasn't in shape, phisically and mentally to keep up. he died a very lonely man, he dies on his own reading a book in a chair in his bathroom

Priscilla did not kill Elvis,& he did NOT grieve himself to death over her. I have seen some freaky fans even threatening to kill her when the divorce was BOTH of them. They had not been together in close to six yrs when he died. She left him & told him she didn't love him anymore 12/30/71,& he told everybody, but was not upset. They were BOTH having affairs: Priscilla with her dance instructor in 68 & Mike Stone from 71 & Elvis: documented ones were Susan Henning 68-69, Barbara Leigh 70-73...

Kathy Westmoreland 70-77, & Joyce Bova 70-72. These are all in Guralnick's "Careless Love" & "Elvis: Day by Day" All these women have complained of many other women and said Elvis told them he & Priscilla had an "arrangement" or "open marriage.' Elvis had been avoiding Priscilla before the separation, & after he immediately tried to get Ann Margret back who he fell in love with in 63 & then started dating a number of other women. Elvis was not grieving. That is romantic nonsense!

(1) Only Elvis "worshipers" think Elvis didn't cheat! .In my opinion, some of the reason Elvis and Priscilla's relationship didn't work was the gap between when Elvis left Germany in Mar. '60 when Priscilla was almost 15, and Priscilla moved to Graceland in Mar 63 when she was almost 18, did not allow the relationship to mature. They had only seen each other for two short visits in '62, and both had dated others. Elvis had affairs plus had gf Anita Wood at Graceland until Aug 62.

(2) There is NO evidence that Elvis had any kind of mental or emotional "breakdown" after Priscilla left, and he had always had trouble sleeping. He was upset briefly, but then went on with many women. As early as '69, Elvis was seen publicly making out with two beauties in Vegas, and when told how good he looked said: "That's what a bad marriage will do for you!" This made national gossip columns. Priscilla flew in from CA to tell Elvis she was leaving him and didn't love him Dec 30, 1971.

Elvis didnt cheat on Cilla. He DID go around with many women but if he cheated on Cilla, that would mean he didnt really love her and if he din really love her, why would he have a mental breakdown and sleepless nights?
He needed someone to understand him and be with him. He was just a poor country boy.Caught in the hustle and bustle of the evil city.

IF you really are 14, it is understandable you are idealizing love because even older people do that at times. One thing to know is just because someone cheats does NOT mean they don't love their husband or wife, and it can sometimes be worked out. Also, there is no such thing as a "soul mate" so if you break up. it is NOT the end of the world, and someone better will be there in the future! That said, yes BOTH Elvis and Priscilla cheated in the marriage starting in 1968.
