  • I really liked this album, and I agree about Cheap Trick being power-pop legends. It was so disappointing when they toured after releasing this and barely played anything from it. Maybe the label going bust left them in some kind of legal limbo? Anyway, they were like some kind of parody of themselves, like an oldies novelty concert. I think they even played The Flame (wretch!).

  • teenagers like me dont know the true meaning of song.

  • God this is one of their best ever! To bad the label failed. Cheap trick should have been much bigger. Keep rockin you guys, you still have fans!!

  • I loved this song so much that I bought the CD single and I still own it. :-)

  • Should've been a big radio hit for Cheap Trick. Great tune (right down to Zander's restrained slide solo) from a great album...........

  • Awesome. You know... I have a playlist that kinda shows the similarities between Cheap Trick and another famous band from the '70's click my name if you want to see it. You won't belive what connections I've found!

  • Mr.Tolles, good job!!

  • great song and production.go CT

  • nothing takes the place of experience...you don't write music like this without it.

  • cheap trick, una banda fabulosa, pues lo que digo esta buena las canciones, todas sin ecepciones, y say goodbye, es super este tema

  • thanks tolles

  • one of their best songs

  • ding dong

  • I thought this was a cool song, I even bought the single!

  • love cHeAp tRiCk

  • wow....what a band. wrote some of best rock songs....very melodic.

  • This song sounds great! Bun E. Carlos is an excellent drummer, one of my favorites!

  • Why on earth does Rick need a 5-necked guitar? The only strings on it I ever see him play are those on the second neck from the top.

  • lol dat was a pimping guitar. with like 5 arms :D

  • No. It was sheer rock n' roll!

  • Awesome song from one

    of the best bands ever.!!

    Love Cheap Trick...5*****

    Thanks for posting.

  • Great song from one of

    the best bands ever!!

    Love Cheap Trick!! 5*****

    Thanks for posting.

  • journey heart and cheap trick noblesville IN tonight!!

  • You will be hard pressed to find a more finely crafted power pop song. All of you emo posers out there take note.

  • ugghhhh emo

  • Very true. I would take a look into Enuff Znuff. Donnie is a big beatles/Zander fan and they create outstanding power pop songs!

  • Try out Enuff Znuff power pop songs. They are outstanding. Donnie is a big Zander/Beatles guy anyways. Think u might like

  • Man this is a great example of finely crafted power pop. I was at the Sunset Bowl in Waukesha, WI the night Jack Douglas signed them to their first record deal...Been a fan ever since and ever more

  • U are the man!! I remember seeing these boyos at Humpin' Hannas and The Kenwood Inn! I'm from Milw. HARDEST WORKING BAND EVER!!

    Cheers!

remember when they played The Palms as "The Horny Toads?" hehe

  • why dont they come to the Netherlands _!!_

  • Great Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey in Las Vegas july 18

  • they all rock .cept for heart...

  • great concert Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey. Las Vegas 07-18-08

  • i am i went to ther concert on july 3 at Festival Park i am ll i got to meet thyem and hang out for a day they were amazed they did not think that 11 year olds wear fans i guesded i proved them rong

  • This was such a great album. I was 17 when it came out and didn't really know much about Cheap Trick. I saw them open up for Motley Crue that year in Detroit and they were awesome. They are so much heavier live than on the album. This is a great, great tune.

  • It seems to me that the Crue should have opened for Cheap trick...Vince and the boys were picking there noses when Live @ Budakhan was filling stadiums>>>>>>

  • Wrong, assteeth! Motley crue were plowing chicks while Cheap Trick was filling stadiums. When they finished with that they turned 11 and started tinkering in music, THEN they filled stadiums AND plowed whores.

  • Vince Neal wishes he was has hot has Robin Zander i would do Robin Zander when he turns 80 i wouldnt touch Vince then now or later

all Robin has to do is sing one line one word and im his

  • I recently saw Cheap Trick open for Journey. Personally, I don't really like Journey, but I simply love Cheap Trick. Same deal. Shouldn't Journey be opening for Cheap Trick? I Think So.

  • i want to but have you heard journeys new singer he sucks

  • hes the fuckin best singer ive ever heard..

  • well no one compares to steve perry

  • Is anyone here gonna go see them with Journey and Heart?

  • I would,if I knew when they were coming my way. (I came damn close to actually meeting Bun E. when I went to visit a friend in Illinois, but they were rehearsing for this tour.)

  • I am in Irvine, CA on 7/16

  • Going to see them in Salt Lake City on July 11. It will be my first time seeing Cheap Trick and I'm looking forward to it.

  • Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • meeeee in dallas in 1 week!

  • haha, Tom Peterson is playing 12-string basses, lol

  • Tom Peterson plays 12 string basses... not so easy. I have played them too.

  • Still counting......

  • 717mienbao, Right on bro

  • How many times can your favorite band just blow.... you.... away.....?

  • i agree man i love this song!!!

  • cheap trick was possibly the best live band of the seventies; aerosmith had great tunes but were addled and kiss were a cartoon.

i saw them first in'79 and was hooked-

and they inspired cobain, who turned out the only relevant mass and since...music of the early nineties

  • they're my fave live band, the only band i have seen 10 times. i'll be sad when they call it a day.

  • absolutely agree - i've seen them 3 times live over the decades - great stuff

  • One of the best "live" bands I've ever heard. Being from the Chicago area, I've had the pleasure of seeing them many times. April 1st is now officially "Cheap Trick" day here in Illinois.

  • i love this record its great stuff

  • Woah! I caught a pick from the five string guy, at six flags.. years ago. Nice to see they still have it. :)

  • i grew up listening to trick, they always were good to see in concert they always sounded the same live which is great.

  • They have some great anthem like songs like, Surrender, California Man, On Top Of The World. The Rockford CD was great too. Thier is a ballad that is Beatles worthy called Claire. Great song!

  • REAL music... how refreshing it is. Stay tuned folks, this band STILL rocks the shit out of the place. Catch them if you can.

Robin Zander is still in great voice. He's in my top 5 all time rock vocalists, as high as #3... CT ROCKS!!!!!

  • of all the shit nowdays, this is the only band who tuned into the beatles and kept that quality of music going....ART Omg....just listen to the unedited mumbo jumbo bullshit they call music now....lol fuck I sound like my DAD.

  • dude, i know what your saying..LOL. The problem is the crap they serve up nowadays forces me to sound like my Dad!! I'm not getting older, just that popular music now is just soooooo crappy.

There are good bands out there these days, but you have to find them on internet radio. FM radio is all Clear Channel crap...so sad.

  • awesome tune, awesome band.......all the posts re: underrated, no good deed unpunished, etc. = SO TRUE. My God, how does THIS not score, and we're punished with the absolute crapola that passes for 95% of today's 'music'?

It just ain't right. Aerosmith shudda been opening for THESE guys the last 30 years.

  • +1 Exactly!

  • I so agree with you on this. Saw them live in 2004 with STYX and 38 Special and they all rocked the house down. What an incredible night that was.

  • I love this song. The moment I watched this video clip,I became a fan of Cheap Trick. I watched many other clips of Cheap Trick and found four songs that I liked very much. I think this song is the best among those. Now I know why they have been popular in Japan! The melody stays in my head and Robin's voice is great.

  • this is one of my favorite songs by them.....but its quite underplayed...and underheard(if thats a word)..thanks for the upload!

  • Very underrated song by them

  • Fantastic video! My favorite Cheap Trick song of all time - a mature Cheap Trick here - and the best CT guitar solo ever, and it's played by Robin Zander! This should have been a No. 1 hit single in 1997. Too bad the record label went belly up the second the CD came out, which meant zero publicity for the album.

  • Ok..Quick question..Why a 5 neck guitar ? I mean really c'mon. And also..CHEAPTRICK FTW NO LIE

  • Simply the best voice in Rock-N-Roll Ever!

  • i couldnt agree more.........well Fredie Murcery is really good also.

  • When I was a kid, I bagged Rick's groceries at Hilander Grocery Store in Rockford, Il. This band is one of the best of all-time! I saw them last Saturday in Phx with Sammy Hagar, and CT was spectacular. They sounded great. We need to hear them on the radio more! - Jay

  • Replacements broke up on stage in Grant Park in Chicago in '91... Sure you aren't thinking of the Refreshments??

Robin sounds better now than in 77... These guys are awesome.

  • Reminds me of everything else from 97...The Rembrandts, The Replacements, Gin Blossoms.........this is just a great pop song. And Robin's a great singer.

  • i love this song cuz it sounds like a beatles song

  • You are so right on, danmilam11

  • a five neck guitar, holy crap!!! :0

  • Seen him play it from 5 feet away in Detroit, Freshman12225! A totally awesome experience!

  • Oh! And I got to touch it!

  • i've been in love w/you guys since LIVE AT BUDOKAN. Love the facial hair, Rick, but Bun E. is still my fantasy man.

  • Great track from the brilliant 1997 Cheap Trick Album. Love this track.....particularly the harmonies which are just brilliant along with some delicate slide guitar.

  • I love this video. This is one of my favorite. Thanks for posting this.

  • i necer saw this video. thanks! great song with big influences of beatles!!

  • omg i love this song - my fav by cheap trick!

  • its so cool that this awesome band is from my hometown rockford illinois ^-^

  • brilliant album that didn't get enough attention. Damn it's a great album!

  • loved the song and the video. Thanks 4 posting.

  • I was at this video shoot in Rockford! I'm out there in the crowd somewhere! I've seen CT over 30 times and they just get better and better. If you have the chance this summer, by all means, GO SEE THEM!!!!

  • where is their next mv they making? I am from Rockford so it might be more easier for me to see it. Do you know when their next concert is also?

  • they will be playing at the Naperville last fling on Sept. 9th at 8:30 P.M. in Naperville IL.

  • I was there that night too, I was 3 row center section in the audience.

  • Great song, great band, great guys! If there were any justice Cheap Trick would have been as big as Aerosmith.

  • god knows they're a better live band

  • aerosmith sucks, this guy's are great, your right - it's weird.

  • aerosmith doesnt suck but this bands pretty cool too

  • Ricks a great writer. Underestimated as a writer, performer and player, but he has amazing knack for great hooks and melody.

  • This song kinda sounds like what a Smthereens/Cheap Trick Collaboration might be like. I love both of those bands so much!

  • i like this song and "hard to tell"

  • I love this song. Sounds like something Mcartney would have written.

  • Yeah, Namnoiz it does have the "Paul" flair. It's interesting you noted that. When you listen to some Trick tunes do you hear either Lennon or McCartney in the tune?

Like Voices, very Beatlish, and Tonight It's You...GOD THEY LOVE THE BEATLES DON'T THEY!! Have you ever seen Rick's BEATLES guitar??

  • Brilliant video, brilliant band, saw them at reading festival in 79 (or was it 80?) and loved them. One of my all time favourite songs and the video makes it even better, wish I'd made it!

  • Damn this is a great song and video. I am going on AMazon right now and get it. You guys are right. How this was not a hit is criminal and a testament to how screwed up the music industry is today!

  • Hey tricky were you born in 64 like me? Another excellent post from an album that was so good.

  • Yes I was! I believe I was "convcieved" while the BEATLES were on the Ed Sullivan Show!!!

    February 1964!! YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!!

    Cheap Trick

    Cheap Trick

  • I was also born in Febuary of 1964. Its always nice to meet another Cheap trick fan. I also agree a lot of this album has a Beatles influence. One of my all time favorite albums, my favorite song is this one "Say goodbye".

  • No, I was "concieved" during in February 1964..I was "born" 4, Nov 1964...

I think my parents were getting "down" during "I Want To Hold Your Hand"...ha!!

    Cheap Trick

    Cheap Trick

    Cheap Trick

  • this song should be re-released it is great

  • what a sexy voice

  • The fact that this wasn't a top 10 hit is ridiculous. Avril Lavigne goes platinum while truly gorgeous, melodic pop like this flies under the radar? Screw this. Time to colonize Mars.

  • Very nice video from a great, dependable band.

  • this song deserved so much better

  • great video

  • The chorus still gives me goosebumps. Tom's bass playing on this is brilliant. How this was not a hit is almost impossible to understand. They're not only one of rock n' roll's greatest bands, they are all four really nice, good people. Living proof about no good deed going unpunished....

  • I love this video! It shows Rockford! It shows the Midway Theatre! Robin Zander sang at the Grand Re-opening of the Midway Theatre in 1981! My mother worked at the Midway Theatre in the 1950's! VIDEO IS 100% GREAT!!!

  • the S/T Cd is so underrated it's criminal. Not a bad song on that CD and Robin shines as always.

  • it's out of print, right?

  • I'll bet you can find it in almost any used Cd store's bargain bin, which is a tragedy if you ask me....

    %^)

  • Love this song.. Still love this band after all these years. Rick and Robin are two of the nicest guys you could ever meet. This after a chance encounter 25 years ago!

  • how does Cheap Trick make such beutiful melodies so perfect, to fit Zander's voice? amazing.........

  • what a fuckin band !thanks for posting;-)

  • Still quality, after all these years. Always will be.
