I used to listen to this song on 93.1 Doug FM back in the day before my privilages to drive my parents' cars got suspended. I was so eager to do something with my drivers' license. And in the heydey of hard economic times, I was so skeptical that any job was even hiring; and I couldn't even afford car insurance, of which was part of the reason why I took advantage of my parents' generosity. But what the hell, I don't drive anymore since tailpipe emissions deplete valuable resources immorally.
It isn't worth spending on gas when other expenses take you by surprise later on. On top of that, excessive spending implies that your money isn't even as good as ones who save. Of which is why Greg Kihn was saying "I lost on Jeopardy", though it was Weird Al interpreted the mondegreen more officially.
LMAO! I so love this...a big horror about ..well..that horrid m word is .... just wait until the inlaws or as i so affectionetly refer to them as evil criminally insane spawns of satan reveal their true selves! aint pretty!
This song was Number 2 for three weeks during the Spring of 1983...the song to keep it from No. 1?...oh, a little song called "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson.
80s vids are the best!! He fought a giant worm with plywood from a pew and the rocked a solo on the plywood!! That is just crazy good.
Since it is probably a pretty knowledgeable 80s crowd watching this video maybe someone can helo me with a song that has been bothering me for years. It was somewhere from 1983-85 and all I can remember is there was phone ringing and when a woman answered it she was speaking spanish.
@joy7353 I cannot even remember if there were lyrics. It may have just been pure bubble gum poppy music with a ringing phone and a woman speaking spanish.
@bruno10fla504 it's all dumb ass "reality" shows and dumbed down bull shit now. nothing about music AT ALL! they really nned a name change. S-TV would work...
I love, love , love this song from the 80's! God how it takes me back to running the streets with my friends with our boombox blasting this song along with all the totally awesome songs from back then. What a time that was for all of us who lived it! It was a time that you just cant explain unless you were there but damn, it was a time that lives in my heart forever. I skated like nobody's business to this song every weekend. So many fun times and memories. The best! I miss it all so much! :-(
@thecarebearhideaway.. I remember all that so well :( dang, how things have changed in such a short amount of time.. I heard this on the radio this morning after taking my son to school... I was jammin! lol
@countrygal7833 I know! It changed in the blink of an eye. It seems I closed my eyes for just a second and it was gone. I have all the 80's songs ( well most of them) on my Ipod and the awesome 80's music is always playing in my house or car, I must play it while cooking dinner or it just doesnt get done! hahaha :-D So I know what you mean about jammin! Awesome! :-D
This guy is so washed up. He talks about himself all the time in this radio channel where I live (98.5 KFOX). Shut the fuck up and play some fucking music!!
Greg Kihn fans! Hear his radio interview (songs, too!) Sat 10/1, noon(ET) on Dave's Gone By (uncradio. c0m). If you miss it, check the audio archives at davesgoneby. c0m.
I saw the Greg Kihn Band on October 15,1981 at the Kingdome in Seattle,Washington. They were one of the two opening acts for the Rolling Stones that day. The other opening act was the J.Geils Band.
One of my fave MTV songs! This was 80's "pop"...not quite "rock" and not "new wave", but it had a killer video and we loved it! This was when MTV meant MUSIC TELEVISION! Greatest musical days ever!!!!
This only got less than 1/2 a Million hits and Tarzan Boy got 15 Million. Are you kiddin' me.
This song Rocked in the 80's and it still rocks above Tarzan Boy and Putting on the Ritz. RLOL! I had forgotten about this song altogether. I didn't even know what song Jeopardy was.
Cookerkaren is dead on. I would come home stoned, about 2-3am, turn on MTV and watch it til I fell asleep. Wake up and Alan Hunter, Nina Blackwood, or another VJ would greet me when I woke up and I would just watch until I felt like becoming a part of productive society..miss those days!!!
This video gets a 5 star rating everything from the married couples that "for life"con-joined together too the priest showing configuratityabout the ring gotta agree with Greg K
I was 20 in 1983 and I thought Disco started becoming popular in about 1974, peaked in 1979 and then started to decline in popularity. By 1983, Disco was pretty much out of the music scene. Did I miss something?

@jfrank94608 Disco was not entirely dead in 1983. It morphed slightly into Funk and R&B here in America, while in Europe the genre of Italo Disco is still alive even today.
Some people went to mosh pits and headbanging concerts in the early to mid 80s, but many more still went to dance clubs, even if calling them "Discos" was no longer in fashion. Still much the same music but with a different label.
Great dance music, good memories.I`m glad I grew up through the evolution of Rock. The music is Cool, and more so when you can relate it to part of your growing up memories.
