He is not the oldest person on Everest: A 71-year-old man from Japan has reportedly become the oldest person to climb to the summit of Mount Everest.
Retired teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa scaled the 8,850m (29,035ft) Himalayan peak, breaking the record set by a 70-year-old Japanese man in May 2006. (BBC News Tuesday, 29 May 2007).
However, getting to the top is a major achievement, so congratulations to Fiennes.

You are correct, he isn't the oldests - I'll change the description.
Yanagisawa however isn't the oldest. That honour falls to 76-year-old Nepalese man, Min Bahadur Sherchan.
