  • BARON SAMEDI WANTS YOU TO DRINK 7-UP

  • Barbados Slim!

  • reminds me of Isaiah Mustafa lol

  • What the hell is that laying on the floor in front of him?? It looks like some kind of weird dog mutation with about 8 legs and no head.

  • There's a great Netflix documentary on his romance with his wife and their early life together as dancers/choreographers.

  • @Unkraut1960

Yes, I read it, but didn't know he went back as early as 1971. You just interpreted what I said wrongly.

  • he is my uncle and i am so proud of him. He is currently living in New York and he is actually sick. I am so blessed to be his niece and i hope he gets better

  • In the 1970s, after winning a Tony Award, Holder went on to the stage, accepted the award and then said "Trying make this out of a cola nut," much to the delight of the audience.

  • Mr Bond, try a beauuutiful 7up. HaHaHaHaaa.

  • 1971? Hmmm... I seem to remember these in the early 80's.

  • @kodachromedude ummmm apparently you did not bother looking under the vidio ?

"1971 7-UP Commercial starring Trinidadian character actor Geoffrey Holder who has also worked as choreographer, dancer, painter, costume designer, singer and voice-over artist. So popular were these ads, 7-UP created a new batch with Geoffrey in the 1980s.

  • 40 years ago, SHEEZ D:

  • I don't think I'd trust Baron Samedi with MY 7-UP.

  • The legendary Baron Samedi folks

  • It doesn't smell like a cola, but I bet his breath smells like shit.

  • @pictureisup1 ha ha ha btw hes my uncle andi dont appreciate ur comment

  • @brattytatty99 First of all. I saw this when I was very young. I love it. I was kidding. You may too sensitive. You should very proud of your uncle. If he was my uncle, I would be proud too. If I read the comment and he was my uncle, I would laugh. Tell me something if Chris Rock wrote this, would you like it? I wrote about sex thing because some people I am not saying you. Like that. I hate that. You don't know me. I not a jerk.

  • Family Guy Episode VI brought me here

  • Crisp and clean with no caffeine, never had it,never will...Hahaha!

  • the prototype for grim in the grim adventures of billy and mandy

  • This guy is awesome. He was really funny in the movie "Boomerang"

Drinking 7-up out of a brandy glass = ha ha ha haaaaaa!

  • BARON SAMEDI!!!!

HOLY CHEEZ-ITS, HE DID THE LAUGH!

  • @iknownothing34 I had to look up which one you meant, I thought of the Hatian Baron Samedi from Heroes at first. I understand you meant the James Bond one now.

  • @aoinatafanboy84 Oh, sorry for the trouble.

  • @iknownothing34 dont be, no trouble at all. I thought it was funny.

  • Wouldn't it be cool if an after shave company did something similiar to this? Oh wait, Old Spice RIPPED OFF THIS CONCEPT!

  • Thumbs up for celebrity apprentice!

  • @Scottdude21 What did they do on Celebrity Apprentice?

  • @ANeonTiger Task on the new 7up Retro. Geoffrey Holder was in Marlee's commercial.

  • apprentice thumbs up

  • I'll never forget, in the movie Swashbuckler (1976) he suddenly appears as a knife-throwing cackling Jamacian alongside James Earl Jones-- the ultimate movie of all time! That was back when James was in great shape. Starred Robert Shaw (remember the Scottish guy in "Jaws"?) 1001% charisma.

  • This guy sounds like the Old Spice guy...

  • I love his voice, and who can forget that iconic laugh?

  • Did H eDo A Campaign For 7 Up

  • what is this guy laughing about?

  • @greatsayain about your stupidness...

  • Holy crap, Baron Samedi lives on!!

  • Comment removed

  • This guy was awesome in Live and Let Die.

  • wow this laughter makes me feel strange... remember Geoffrey from 'Live and let die'!

  • @ElectricGuitarManPL I do but I mostly remember him from the Movie "Annie".

  • Look at your soft drink, now look at mine, now back at yours. Your soft drink is now DIAMONDS!

  • He's a old fuck very dirty mouth.

  • Oh non threatening black man. You can sell me anything... just don't live on my street

  • His voice is similar to James Earl Jones,

  • EPIC

  • i was waiting for the old spice whistle at the end.

  • This ad could never be made today.

  • "Baron Samedi" in a 7-Up commercial. I'm so buying a bottle of 7-Up next time I go grocery shopping. HAHAHA.

  • What ever happen to this guy...

  • Geoffrey Holder recently did a broadway show called the new James Earl Jones.

Can you imagine Geoffrey doing Darth Vader's voice? Luke, I am your father.

    Ha ha ha ha!

  • @TIPTON340 Funniest post I have read in a long time. LMAO!

  • @TIPTON340 He could have done the voice and wore the suit. Unlike that short T-Rex-armed Christian Hadenwhatshisname, Geoffrey Holder is tall enough to play Vader.

  • Where is Geoffrey Holder when 7 Up needs him now???

  • @Pookatube He's the "Voice of KYOT" a smooth jazz radio station out in Phoenix, AZ. If you think he's great there, imagine him saying "Smooooooooooooooooooooooth Jazz....." ;)

  • Where is Geoffrey Holder when 7 Up needs him now???

  • wow if wearing 7 up is attractive i'll take 30

  • this dude made me buy 7-up

  • This guy was Baron Samedi in Live and Let Die, Right?

  • Yes, one of Holder's better roles was as the omnipresent Baron Samedi.

  • Yeppers!!!!!

  • @CO9207 Yes, Geoffrey Holder was Baron Samedi; he also appeared as Punjab in Annie and in Boomerang with Eddie Murphy.

  • Anyone recall the 7-Up holiday ads, also from around this time, which featured a reindeer/moose character, urging viewers to "huff their hoofies" to get 7 Up for the holidays? Would love for someone to post them.

  • "Mahvelous! The smell of success is never too sweet." LOL!

  • Love 7-Up. Holder is now the voice of a Radio Station in Phoenix, Arizona, 95.5 KYOT The Coyote!

  • the movie Boomerang the character he played was Nasty Nelson so funny with Grace Jones.

  • Does anyone else remember him playing a character named "William Shakespeare the tenth" in the 1967 feature "Doctor Doolittle" starring Rex Harrington?

  • I can't stand 7-UP. When I was a kid, my mom used to give it to me when I was sick with a bad stomach virus, since it was a "light" beverage. To this day, the taste of 7-UP makes me nauseous. Its a fine product but it has bad memories for me.

  • LMAO! Amazing.

I actually got here after looking for a 7-Up commercial made in the same year, but a greaser is in it. Anyone seen this? I can't find it. :C

  • Dang!! He made 7up commercials too??

  • Oh yeah! That's where I first experienced Holder (and that incredible laugh of his).

  • i just love his laugh its sooo awsome

  • his voice and laugh is epic

  • How many years did he do those 7 up commercials? This one was before I was born. And i remember him doing them in the late 80s! And wasn't he in the movie "Boomerang?"

  • Yes he was in the movie "Boomerang.....with Grace Jones and Eartha Kitt......and of course Eddie Murphy and Halle Berry!

  • who was he in Boomerang?

  • @darkandunatural the guy designing the commercials...with too many sexual references

  • Wow i completely forgot about these. They dont have pitch mans like these anymore. I mean the cave man from geico are probaly the cloest but for some reason they have disapeared too.

  • Geoffrey Holder was/is an amazing talent, under-utilized.

  • Of ALL 7-up ads throughout the years, the ones with Geoffrey Holder are the best!

Esp. when he does that cool-as-HELL laugh of his! ("Ahhh-ha-ha-HAAAAA!")

  • hard to believe he was Punjab in the movie Annie! I almost didnt recognize him!

  • Sounds like James Earl Jones

  • Def, he could play a James Bond Baddie, you know it. How did he not spill any of that when he was pouring it dangerously to the edge?

  • He *did* play a James Bond villain: th mysterious Baron Samedi in 1973's "Live and Let Die"...and he does plenty of laughing :)

  • Oh so that was him, hmm.. as a tribute I think I'll play as him. I work in a cinema and when we're not showing films we're (some friends and I) going to see if we can play games - namely GoldenEye on the N64!!

  • There's a secret bonus level where you're supposed to kill him with the Golden Gun in the pyramids...but I never played it...

  • WOW! I forgot that commercial existed! Man I was just a kid!

  • my gosh i remember this!

  • Holder had a killer laugh.

  • Never seen this one before! Born in '74, so I only recall the '80s commercials. EASILY one the best picthman 7UP ever had, and one of the few Renaissance men left in the world.

  • Hey, is he on "Live and Let Die"?

  • yes, he was baron samedi in that movie.

  • One of the all-time great Tv commercials. What a great actor!!! I'm trying to find a 16mm print of this ad.

  • Yes, it's a classic commercial, but JOOC, why would you want a 16mm print? Is it for a collection or archive? Motion picture film will be obsolete in another 30 years or so.

  • That is exactly why he wants it.

  • I remember this...and that scary laugh!

  • cool laugh, although I heard it first when he played Baron Samedi in Live and let die...

  • That's Geoffrey Holder, the Trinidadian character actor, who hawked 7-UP in the "Uncola" campaign for several years.
