Everyone should note the car isn't in sport/manual mode here, so isn't revving as high as it could do, although it's best to go flat out in sport, then when you're nearing the rev limited manually change into 6th gear to give it that extra bit of shove.

No cars are not limited to 250 but to 260 km/h (I know in documentation is always 250kmh but it is not a true) The car is fully in a factory set-up only. Only one change is a fuel, instead a regular diesel fuel I had used always premium Shell V-Power diesel and that's it. Acceleration is not rocket, but continuous with good top speed. Safe roads where to test the top speed is of course Germany or any good and modern highway in europe without speed cameras.

in a reality the car is quite quick 0-60 in 8sec and max speed 155mph is still better then most cars on roads. Not bad for base engine option for this model. Diesel engine is technically a low roll engine so you can't expect high and quick reving as gasoline engines. This engine is fully enought for most drivers and for every day driving. This engine is not designed for racing. If you prefer performance take a V8 od V12 instead.

it's a base engine option for this model, so we can't expect any outstanding performance, but 0-100km/h (0-60mph) in 8 sec is not exactly what we call slow. This car with this engine is great for persons who spending long time on motorways. Crusing speed up to 220 km/h without downshifts, car is smooth and quiet and range more then one thousand km per one fuel tank is excelent . With gasoline V8 I had every 2 hours stop for refueling...

it means your chip doesn't works and car has a lower power output then with original one. With an original settings must be slighty faster then your with modificated ECU. Try to visit a dyno and test the car what is the real power.

Only if you have top model of Jetta. This video just showing performance of the cheapes and less powerfull available engine for the 7series. And still is faster then 95% cars on the road. And look how car is still smooth and noiseless at maximum speed. Without vibrations, without engine screaming, nothing only nice smooth ride. Try compare this with others

If prefering 3.0d I am sure 730d will be a better choice. Better perform., comfort, handling, fuel eco. etc. X5 is heavy for 3.0d, accel. and top speed is poor. Is not very comfortable especially on local roads or in town. Handling is great for SUVs/SAVs but 730d still beat most of the car on the road even with optional dynamic drive. Downside of 730 is... old model, will be replaced in 18months with all new 7er. X5 is new, resell value will be higher. If no practical reason new X5 looks cool.

I am changing cars no more then every 2 years because all of my cars are leased and with end of contract I must order a new car for another 2 years and again and again... for now finishing contract for BMW 730Ld and new 740Li is already ordered and will be delivered in couple weeks.

all of them except X5. I had X5 just for test, because I'm choosing new car 730ld is now nearly 2ys old and lease contract will expire with the end of this year. X5 is better than I expected handling is superbly perfect, strong engine with old fashion sound backgroud of the 70's and car is full of smart new age options.

but sometimes X5 still feels like a man's toy. Is not confortable on local roads or on city roads. Fuel consuption is not really bad for 355hp V8 engine but fuel tank capacity is not enough for longer trips. So maybe I will order MB R500 long wheel base. Strange how you're in a German spec BM but it gives you the warning in English instead of 'Warnung! Höchstgeschwindigkeit überstieg!' Odd also, UK spec 730d's are only specified at 141mph top speed. Does the warning come up when you reach the (apparent) limit of 155mph (250kph) whether you have winter tyres or not?

Hi, doesn't matter which spec it is, because you can easily select one of the 5 or 6 languages in a computer menu on the iDrive user interface. Warning message come up only on user demand, if winter tyres limit is not set the warning function is not active

No at all, road was pretty flat. Only one different was the best available fuel (Shell V-Power diesel) and low outside temperature around 4°C so engine has a little bit higher output power then in regular conditions. Anyway acceleration beetween 240-260 takes ages so I agree maximum cruising speed for longer time period is around 240kph, for higher speed you need exceptionaly good condition like a low traffic no headwind and low air temperature.

Some critical parts are protected by fence, new parts are protected fully and periodically is placed special bridge or underpass for animals. Roads designed for european style of driving :-D

Do you have a way to keep deer and other animals off the autobahn? Even at our very low speed limits I am extremely cautious of deer at night. Hitting a deer at those speeds would be horrible (for both deer and driver).

Speed limit exceeded is warning for speed limit of the winter tyres and is fully changeable by user from 0 to 300 kph could be use as warning aganist speeding as well if you will set speed limit on the highway limit for example.
