at the 24 or 25 second mark, if you own the actual movie you can see theres a guy walking down the street plain as day, to the left of charlton hestons head. blurry in this video though.
and all this time he was wasting playing chess with the roman version of a mannequin from Today's Special.
All the garbage and crap right out in the street looks just like any run-down, poverty-stricken big inner city of America today, especially some war-zone shithole like Detroit or Pittsburgh. Bring on the plague, motherfuckers!!!!
sorry but this is the best version of i am legend and did you see ben hur i like will smith better but this movie was better then will,s version you should check out vincent price version as well it was good to but not better but i liked 2 of them and loved heston
What song is that? Sounds like a song the Cramps would do. I loved the Omega Man. It was pretty cool and creepy for it's time. Obviously, I Am Legend was superior in special effects compared to back then. But strangely, it didn't make it a better overall movie.
It's too bad the new version had such a stupid-ass ending. No message, just pointless violence and special effects idiot kids these days can't watch a movie without.
Did you see the movie that started it all? "Last Man on Earth" with Vincent Price? It rocks.
Although I liked the movie, "I Am Legend", I feel that for all the special effects, it lacked the same feeling as "Omega Man" and "Last Man on Earth".
Listen up, you creatures of "The Wheel!" Great news for all you lovers of this awesome Ron Grainer soundtrack! Film Score Monthly just re-released it, as "The Omega Man: 2.0 Unlimited." I just received my CD in the mail this afternoon. It's been completely remastered! And it was only $19.95, not the $300.00 that the first-release CD is going for on eBay. I have both CD's, but the newer one definitely sounds crisper. So, go to Screen Archives and get yours today! You won't be disappointed! Johnny
The song that I replaced was the "Theme from Summer Place". The song is not part of the Ron Gainer score for the movie. "Summer Place" is a 1959 movie based on a 1958 novel.
I happen to enjoy the edited song, it's pretty funny if you ask me. In my opinion Omega Man was a great film, but had a really awful soundtrack and some really cheesy music at the wrong times (like when he's dying in the fountain for example). True in the opening Heston drives a Galaxie 500, but if I remember correctly, thre's also a point in the movie where he drives a '70 boss 9 right out of the showroom.
I agree, mate. Grainer (who also scored the classic Prisoner tv series) created a completely unique score for Omega Man and, for my money, it's stood the test of time. And when one consider's all the vapid scores that are out there through the last 30 years, for those of us who care about good scores from every decade, let's give credit where credit's due.
PS- you've scared the hell out of me on the score's price because I'm shopping for it!

The mutants aren't flesh-eaters in this film. They still eat regular food. Neville found a recently discarded sardine tin, cracker box, and a empty Cutty Sark bottle in a waste basket outside the office of the Hotel Premiere, where he was hunting for their hive. The mutants seek to kill Neville because he uses the technology that destroyed the world.
I Love that movie, yeah! nice mix ;) I like all the movies based on R. Matheson's novel I Am Legend: The Last Man On Earth(1964)Omega Man(1971), and I Am Legend(2007)!
the Eagles of Death metal song "Chase the Devil". Which is what Chuck does in this movie, chase the devil tonight! It is from the album " Death by sexy".
So what is your point? Of course is has been edited. Everything on Youtube has been edited to some degree. But The sentence (A term I am using loosely), "that shit song has been edited on", makes you sound like a idiot and after looking at your Channel, an idiot you are. Thanks for your unsolicited opinon.
Haha, I'm so lame. I've never seen this movie and hadn't heard that song before. I was like, wow, they sound just like the Eagles of Death Metal. Must be who the eagles pattern themselves after. Who could they be?? lol.....
I like how people comment bashing Will Smith's role in the new version of the 'I Am Legend' story. I literally just saw "I Am Legend" and I think it was a beautiful movie. Maybe just a little too short. But I watched "The Omega Man" when I was a kid and was happy to see the entire storyline revitalized to fit in with this generation. We today fear cancer, as yesterday's people feared nuclear war. See the movie.
But what would that prove? That maybe that's not the right thing to say, if not then what could you come up with that could counter that? (I think I just hurt my brain with that) :-D
Love Heston, love him just blasting away with the machine gun. Great film from Hes's sci-fi days.

strictly speaking, Last Man on Earth was based on the novel by Richard Matheson' that technically started it all, which was called I Am Legend

You are a FUCKING NUT mate.
The Ron Grainer Score is Legend in itself.
It goes for £200+ on ebay for a reason.
because its fucking gold!
I'm pretty sure plenty of people agree with me on this one.
Although some of the music may appear cheesy these days, you must remember, this film was made in 1971!
i think you should get yourself a copy of the OST and rethink your opinions.
