I lived in Basildon until 1986, I am planning to move back in 2014. Not sure what you mean about racism particularly in Basildon - when I was there, there was racism but I think society is racist, there is not an escape from it yet. My best mate was black and she got plenty of agro, but she has done exceptionally well for herself. Her mum and dad are lovely.

Full of racist people even on here. " I'm not a racist I have black neighbours" u r so uneducated. I'm from London and moved up here with me mum and dad to be nearer to my aunts but still believe racist lives on even when people whisper the word black u can say black u no its not illegal.

This is my hometown where I was born in 1953. Emigrated to Canada in 1968 when I was 15 yrs old. Attended St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Primary School. We were within the St. Basil's RC Church Parish and attended that church. The Nuns from the St. Basil's Convent ran the school and many nuns were teachers. Some of the teachers were lay RC persons from the parish. I later passed my 11+ and attended Fryerns Grammar School.  I think Fryerns was incorporated with Craylands Secondary Modern.

@spy53tube fryerns is no more, closed years ago, part of school buildings (not the main block, the other side) which was science and tech though may of not beenwhen you was there, is offices now, the rest has gone. Craylands Secondary Modern? not heard of it and i lived on craylands 16 odd years back, barstable school maybe? (across the road from fryerns?) if so thats still going

funny.. i have lived in the Devonshire Countryside and Northern California... but Basildon is brilliant. And Billericay is a CrapHole with smelly people who think they are from West London. Whereas there is more crime rates and unemployment figures in Billericay and Wickford in comparison to the Superior Basildon.

thats really funny mate. i live in basildon and its gone right down the pan. i have junkies outside my bloody gate now waiting for drugs. told the police, but no they do nothing. oh yeah the africans, all over the basildon now. i think its time to get out of this place.

yep you have a point there mate. i don't have a problem with black people. in fact i have a black family living next door to me and there nice people. what i really have a problem with is drugs junkies outside our gates and the police do nothing about them. but every town has this problem. including BILLERICAY.
