This bug was fixed within days of its discovery.

Intercontinental transports are a weird beast; they are literally their own zone that moves around. When someone got DGed across their boundary, the server literally lost them.

That ship is (at least was, pre-Cata) a real place in Azeroth, at world (absolute) location 0,0,0,0. (x, y, z, continent). My guess is that it was put there so when players ended up there, they could hearth out and not involve a GM.

This is what happens when a couple numbers in the coding get messed up. It looks like maybe that "ghost ship" might have the same or similar numbers used in coding as the one in BB. Notice how he landed exactly where he should have on the one in BB? What most people don't realize is that boats/zeppelins in the game are actually almost (almost meaning not really at all but faintly similar) like instances of their own. I guess since he was DG'd right to a spot instead of walking on, it messed up.

Yeah, it was fun while it lasted but Blizz fixed the bug and banned anyone caught trying it repeatedly.

That's awesome. I ended up on that ghost ship once as well, although it was after taking the boat normally. Dalaran was still a giant bubble (which is the only reason I knew where it was).

Nope. They fixed it the patch after WoWInsider did an article on it.

I left WoW because of the little kids that complain about everything they see. Don't get me wrong, it is the best game for me of all time and I still would play it on any given day. This was done on a PvE server under a staged duel condition. I could see this be considered as griefing for PvP servers, which is a bannable offense. Use at your own risk.

I'm not sure how a GM would go about it, to be honest. In an article on Wowinsider, they got a fair warning, but I'm not sure if they were abusing it or just playing around.
