Well, then you've never actually done it. With only a few the explosion isn't all that great, but when you put in enough, it blows up really loud.

Dry ice bombs do the exact same thing. If you think the explosion sound was "put in", then you really need to make one for yourself and see that with the right mixture you can actually see the shockwave.
