  • buck simply had the coolest hooks ever....

  • DISLIKE COMMERCIAL

  • 5 dislikes??

  • Been listening to this for 30yrs now, still love it to this day.

  • obviously my upstairs neighbors know nothing about BOC - this i base on their crappy music selection which I am graced with almost daily. i guess all hip-hop sounds the same when it emanates from their floor/thru my ceiling. think its time to introduce those 20-something rappin' twits to BOC? i mean, at FULL BLAST? with speaker 2 inches from the ceiling?

  • i cant see why they didnt have this in the movie... o well, producers get what producers want.. the soundtrack was still kickass... the movie i am referring to is HEAVY METAL

  • @Roweanos212 It sounds like a summary of the movie but I may be mishearing it.

  • @sonicgreg close... it is a summary of taarna's story, the endng one

  • What an amazing JOY! Thank you so much. You cleared up an argument while two hippies figured it out while listening to your post. Must also add that I knew the answer and then found your post and...they were both wrong!!! I, on the other hand,

kept my mouth shut....UNTIL NOW!!! I've watched all your vids...Thanks again...!!

  • "Bring me the Tarakian!" Heavy metal was awful and awesome at the time...

  • Awesome

  • Hawkwind was way better.

  • I can't recommend "Ghost-Opus Eponymous" enough to fans of Blue Oyster Cult's "darker" moments.. think BOC mixed with Mercyful fate, just as catchy, and a bit on the "devilish" side. Nice to see some great influence on a new band. Just search up "Ghost ritual sweden" on here if you are interested.

  • i've been looking for this for 5 years hahahaha

  • BOC is a great music, but really great while on acid during a full moving in the desert... damn good times.

  • just for informational purposes, much of this album was written for the movie Heavy Metal. This song was for the part when Taarna is called upon to fulfill the pact and destroy the loc nar. however, the movies director felt the song didnt truly capture what was happening. the only song on this album that actually was put in the movie, ironically, wasnt made for the movie (veteran of the psychic wars)

  • I'm with some of you on the real early BOC stuff...hard to get into, although Hot Rails from Hell kicks it...

This song is killer as are a few on this album. So many people haven't heard BOC other than radio hits..."Burning for You" should be called "Boring for you!".

My favorite is "Mirrors", a great album with lots of hidden treasures...

Go back 30 years and Buck was regarded as one of THE BEST guitarist in the rock world. He still is, go see them play live, you'll love it.

    Research and see

  • Yeah, that one is badass, they have so many good ones, if you haven't heard these check them out.

    'Veteran of the psychic wars'

    'Pocket'

    'When the old gods return'

    'Stone of love'

    'Nosferatu'

    'I love the night'

    'Astronomy'

    'Vengeance, (the pact)'

  • @TheDrunkenHer0 Dude..I like "Burning for you" as well...I think of my girl every time I listen to it. But I've listened to Astronomy, but it's a little slow for my tastes. Still amazingly made.

  • 4 ppl cant hear the computer

  • best cover ever

  • Ya i'm like 3 and i love blue oyster cult and that stuff i'm cool cuz i'm younger then most people who listen to this stuff

  • @deadrisinglord Oh yeah? Im liek 2 yeers old and my sis is 1 and we ROCK OUT to BOC!!!!

  • this cover creeps me out but at the same time it so cool

  • Intro sounds modern as hell.

  • @TheDrunkenHer0 It's still amazing. I never knew this band was so amazing until today...I might actually pay for their albums! The music is worth it.

  • @shadowwolf204 Same here...

They're still making music today and it still has that classic BOC sound.

  • @TheDrunkenHer0 Really? Awesome. I I had only listened to "Don't fear the Reaper" originally. But man...It's not bad by any means, but everything else I've heard...it's reached me in a way no other band has been able to do. This era or any other. One of my favorites is Black Blade. It's amazing.

  • 3 Favorite songs off this album are "Vengeance", "Burnin" for you, and "After Dark"

  • Metal Hurlant...

  • this album is why i tunes is a bad thing...i bet you they don't have it ....buy the physical album for a great time

  • Holy hell how did I ever miss these guys! I heard them before, but now that I take a closer look, they were way ahead of their time, IMO. There are portions of this song that remind me of Porcupine Tree, which is amazing to think that after all this time, It can still stand next to current music without sounding dated.

  • Seems like B.O.C. sorta kinda gets overlooked by all the huge music people ,not mentioning any names but (couphs*VH1) .....How can they name Black sabbath as an incredible band over & over & never even mention Blue Oyster Cult. Blue Oyster Cult was like......Metal with Class & Style!

  • A creation of the Illuminati Americans! Every scene has subliminal message ...

Lucifer has lost! Who is Jesus Christ Saves!

    Think about it ...

  • @xandefema Nonsense, this is a creation of the fantasy heroine Taarna for the film Heavy Metal. You could argue that BOC invoke Howard Philip Lovecraft and the Old Gods, but their message is that this planet may very well need to be "saved" from humanity. Why does Lucifer have such a bad rap? If you actually bother to look into the mythology, the Archangel Lucifer the Accuser is only a necessary servant of God too, the original sin is humanity's not his!

  • @xandefema This was released in 1981 the year Reagan became president and the hostages in the American embassy in Teheran Iran were released. I remember well. And the AMericans supported Saddam against Iran in their war. The green orb is supposed to represent Islam and the middle east as being religious superstitious fanatics and Taarna representing the crusading west using Israel as a beachhead. Zionism, British Israelism bullshit . It also represents communism: gold sword, silver hair, Plato

  • Everyone song I've heard by boc I've loved.

  • how could a generation ever overlook a golden age such as this?

  • Comment removed

  • @GamingIsTheBest I haven't overlooked it. This whole album is a gem!

  • im 16 and i think this song is fucking awesome it gives me chills

  • What freaks me out about this album cover is that they all look like people I have known with masks on. Creepy

  • 60's-80's. Where did they go?

  • Seen these guys 3 times over some years. Great band even way past their prime. This song is is a favorite as the movie Heavy Metal was such a big thing back in the day and this song , orginally written for the movie was never included which is too bad.

  • riverworld is there a connection?

  • god damn were can i get a t shirt from them fuck!

  • Youtube Documentary - They Sold Their Souls For Rock And Roll

  • That is amazing cd artwork!!

  • @primusayso it was a 12inch vinyl before it was a cd

    you are showing your age

  • @floydismydog guilty

  • @primusayso *Album*

  • They're developing a real guitar-hero guitar video game...try that "guitar hero's". You'll see very few sales of a real guitar-hero guitar game, because the "heros" that think they are playing guitar on the existing system will be too confused to have six strings and 22 positions for each, instead of four plastic buttons and a "lever".

  • @bstensland let's be fair, there are five buttons

  • @mrwiskerz666 I guess I'm pretty ignorant on that, and I believe I short-changed the guitar frets to 22 from 23-24.:)...and I play a 7 string...let's see if these kiddies can even do the math.

  • Psilocybin breaks down into Dimethyltryptamine, also known as the Spirit Molecule, it is present in many living things and is released when birth, death and dreaming occurs. It is symbolized in everything from Santa to Jesus Christ and beyond. Our true Connection lies in plants. Peace and love.

  • This pretty much gave away the plot of Heavy Metal's Taarna story, so the producers of the movie wouldn't accept it. They chose "A Veteran of the Psychic Wars" for the soundtrack/film instead.

  • @knightni73 I always knew that, obviously, this song was supposed to be destined for the movie, but thank you for filling in the blank of "why?". Pretty obvious "why?" when you read the lyrics, after hearing your explaination.

  • Guitar hero is a game. Having once-long ago-been in bands, I can honestly say that NO game came can ever replace the feeling of really being up there, playing your heart out. Perhaps that is what is wrong with our society, that we want the imaginary, and not the real. We want the image, without the the work and sacrifice.

  • @jmann229 also, In no way guitar hero skills can ever match real guitar skills.

  • @jmann229 Yes I did and at a certain point it gets really boring.

  • My favorite album cover by BOC

  • hell yea this would be smokin on Guitar hero...

  • a group with two amazing voices and an imagination to create such diverse albums with high quality and overflowing talent...imagine todays stars make such music...BOC WAS UNREAL like many 70s groups...

  • i KNOW

  • better than the hits, "Burn'n" "Godzilla" ect.

  • of all their songs this one is a favorite

  • god i love this album artwork

  • I love the part that starts at around 2:55

    =)

  • yeah, vinyl, got like 3 vinyl records by B.O.C

  • Ah Joe, you are missed...

  • Joe and Albert are missed, albert wrote this with joe. Those were the good old days for sure. My favorite tune off the record.

  • I love this album. Have it on vinyl.

  • ¿ BLÜË Öyster CÜLT ¿

  • My top BOC album for sure

    :)

  • BÖC... not Boc

  • sorry bro, My bad

  • ya thats right. make him know his mistakes :D

  • I know it's just a song meant for a cartoon, but something about it hits me everytime I hear it.

  • @rossbmarvin3rd gotta love how BÖC can almost pull off anything that is associated with music....

  • Blue Oyster Cult was the first classic metal band i fell in love with, and i still love em

  • Hell yeah! great fucking song

  • One of the coolest album covers of all time. A great band and a great song. BOC!!!

  • i love blue oyster cult!!!!!

  • This was supposed to have been made for Heavy Metal

  • along with a few others. ironically, they chose Veteran of the Psychic Wars, which they didnt even consider putting in.

  • love this song,if you like to see boc in a movie, rent or buy,(the stoned age, funny movie, thay play a small part,

  • i love this song... blue oyster cult are like hawkwind

  • Another mystery solved. For decades now I never knew what those blue things were in thier hands on the album cover. Blue frozen water was my best guess at the time. Thanks to Youtube comments,it's got to be Blue Oyster Cult beings holding, duh, I should have known, ,blue oysters. I think.

  • LOVE it as HATE is POWERFUL And What would YOU DO ???

  • BOC was so ahead of their time. Just look at the album cover... alchemical symbols everywhere, those colourful robes, the masks, it's a piece of art in itself. The whole album is an amazing piece of artwork.

  • fuck yeah dude

  • I don't think video games are killing anything. When you talk about working on cars, kids can still do that, I play racing games, and work on my car. Just because there are video games out there doesn't mean kids won't have an interest in cars, or playing guitar.

The best guitar player I know loves GH, in fact most of the people who play in the school's PepBand (rock cover band) play GH and RB. The stuff is still out there, nothing is dying because of video games.

  • couldn't agree more sir

  • I was so hard core BOC back then I wore a faithful reproduction Halloween costume like those dudes on the album cover. People asked me what I was and I didn't really know, Still don't know what they are.Extraterrestials?Humans?

  • THE BLUE OYSTER CULT

  • Hey ellin, that's The Blve Oyster Cvlt. ;-)

  • You're not going to believe this, Carrie, but I only came to the library today to rewrite that comment like this:

    THE BLVE ÖYSTER CVLT

    HAAAAA!!!!!!

  • @ellynlvx Of course I believe it. You are a true fan of THE Cvlt!

  • I am naught but a shell without Them

  • I think they're supposed to be the "blue oyster cult" that the band's named after. Aliens that guide Earth's history. They're from Sandy Pearlman's poetry.

  • led by imagionos. around the time of world war 1

  • The incubation period was a bit before that, was it not? I would say it was Imaginos unfolded from within and expressed the Will from above when he became Desdinova: an immortal being originating from the Heart of the Star.

  • @Rusfi16 Thats the actual Blue Oyster Cult, man ! They're holding little blue oysters, man - I don't think I could sleep with that hanging on the bedroom wall, man ! FREAKY, MAN !

  • I agree. I grew up in this generation, but we were poor, and my choice was a guitar or video games. Man I gotta tell you, game systems have changed a shitload over the last ten years. But you still play a guitar the same way..... Hmmm....And to top it off, a pack of new strings is five bux... what's the cheapest new video game? Last, but not least, are there any video game heros creating REAL art?

  • the art of winning at video games

  • You know something, I HATE video games. Back when I was young, we'd sit in our rooms, or the basement, and try to learn to play these songs on REAL guitars, and.....if we were into musclecars, we'd build REAL cars in parking lots, or a friend's garage......none of it was done sitting on a couch with a "controller" in our hands. We busted and bloodied our knuckles, and damn, it was GREAT.

  • The generation you speak of grew up listening to radio stations run by previous generations. It isn't there fault that the media has only given them samplings of the greatness that music used to be.

  • if a generation of humans is too lazy to acknowledge the full breadth of an artists talent, and only willing to accept what a Corporation presents them with, then surely they might be judged. wildehfag

  • I suppose they can be judged, because that is what humans do. I am just saying the generation you are talking about doesn't consist of only the people who worship RB, or GH. Sure there are people who do that, but I am not sure if I would say we are "too lazy to acknowledge the full breadth of an artists talent." You can't tell me that you acknowledge the full breadth of every band. There is no way.

How can you assume I am homosexual, just because you don't agree with my comments?

  • well the generation that i speak of is my own. how else would i be able to comment on it. and ours is one of a thousand songs of one thousand artists on an ipod. and these songs have only been purchased because they are supposedly the 'best' from an artists collection, as recommended by the music industry( pop culture rather). they claim to love music, they serve only efficiency. neither you nor any of your friends are audiophiles. wildehfag

  • They were so far ahead of their time.....

  • i was hoping they were going to play this song and After Dark. tonight at the concert instead they had 2 sets and played Dont fear the reaper and im burning for you on both sets which we already heard i wish this and other songs were put there=\ oh well B.O.C ROCKED! lol either way it was amazing oh and Harvest Moon was great love that song

  • They're awesome, yes. But GuitarHeroFags only care about 'Don't fear the Reaper', 'Cities on Flame', and 'Godzilla'.

As long as the kids are around, the classics will never survive.

All in All, BOC for life.

  • You just stereotyped a generation, and you were wrong. Don't judge a generation by one video game. That's just ignorance.

  • Don't judge people for buying every single guitar hero game, and only knowing the classics because some company got paid to put it on their game? It seems more ignorant for those guitarhero people to only worship like 2 songs out of the glory that is BOC.

  • I am disagreeing with your statement: "As long as the kids are around, the classics will never survive."

I'm in high school and I love classic rock, I don't listen to anything but; I'll be honest, I like Rock Band, because it's fun and I open up to more music. I just disagree with the thought that only old people can like good, old music. Youth can be embrace it too. I just don't appreciate it when people say that kids only like old songs on GH, or RB. Sorry if I was unclear.

  • Unfortunately you nailed it... did you ever see that episode of southpark when they are playing guitar hero? They look at the dad and say "Nobody plays a real guitar anymore".... Video games are indeed killing the classics

  • you couldn't be more wrong, video games like guitar hero or rockband or whatever are introducing these classic songs to the young audience who then in turn purchase albums and tell friends, keeping the music alive... its a good thing, plenty of people still play realy guitar

  • Video games are killing everything.

  • dont blame crap on video games... BOC is amazimg so who cares anyways. and GH+RB sucks!

  • yeah fuck you dude you don't know shit so stfu

  • They're killing everything. (Now let's see all the little video game-addicts argue with me over MY opinion....) I LOVE classic rock/metal, and I learned to play the bass guitar, years back....(Yes, kiddies, an ACTUAL guitar) Now, they sit in front of the damn games, and that's it. What's next? I had a kid tell (while I was working on my ACTUAL classic car) "you can just build those in blah-blah blah game, ya know...." Oh, sounds lovely......I'll just park the game at the next car show.....

  • you're completely right, these games are driving nuts the children, they can just sit there and play guitar hero, ALL FICTION, why sit down and play guitar when you can play real guitar? I mean, some videogaming is fun, but when you start being addicted you should be CURED. lots of videogaming things are things you could do real, like wii.

what's next? "SHIT HERO! CHALLENGE YOUR FRIENDS SHITTING OVER HERE, WHO'S GONNA BE THE BEST SHITTER?, SHIT HERO! NOW IN THE BEST STORES AT ONLY 300$"

  • @MrOzzyIommi With a fake plastic toilet that costs half the price of a real one.

  • @JahJoJah LoL!

You of course realize thats what the older generation has been saying sense the beginning of time? I'm a harcore BOC fan, big 80's music fan, but I also like indie music. I am not a fan of Justin Bieber and so forth. But come on man that was kind of ignorant.

  • @HisMajestyJahoosa

I'm ignorant for them not indulging themself in the classic, but for them only listening to the classics that are presented to them? Okay. I guess I am ignorant about their ignorance, then. So we're all even.

  • @JahJoJah

    Fix your grammar.

  • @JamesAllan9

    Fix my grammar?

How about you learn about the internet and conversational speaking. We're not writing a Formal Lab Report or a speech for presidency here. I'm talking to another person, therefore I'm using my conversational language.

    Jesus Christ, l2 interwebs.

  • @JahJoJah I agree, now we have to set up a moritorium on child-birth until we can catch up all the kids ,who are already here, to where WE are at this point musically:)

  • @JahJoJah For the most part you are correct. Most teenagers dont listen to the good stuff from BOC like this song, or fire of unkown origin. (Hell, this whole album kick ass.) But not all teenagers only listen to Cities on Flame or Don't Fear the Reaper. Im 14 and i bearly ever listen to those songs. Not sayin that they're bad by any means, but they arent as good as this album. Im not tryin to diss. Just sayin....not ALL kids will kill the classics.

  • @DrJamesHetfield i sure as hell wont this is my favorite band and that was b4 rockband ... my dad showed em 2 me and im14

  • @DrJamesHetfield boc been my personal fav since early teen years to.buck dharma is da man

  • @DrJamesHetfield i dont get why it says jahjoja up there but dis says drjameshetfiled, hey dude,im drdavemustaine

  • @DrJamesHetfield I personally believe that rock music has reached an all-time low. i would type more but im busy loading my shotgun. bye everybody! BANG

  • @igSgtPepper Say it aint so Sgt. Pepper! Let me know you are OK!!!!

  • @igSgtPepper Who did you end up shooting at???????

  • @fligemon Your question reminded me of a story that my uncle told me. He almost shot Bill Gates, while doing security at his party.

  • @DrJamesHetfield 14 an I hate modern music.

  • @Doctalen i'm older but still i agree with you.

  • @Doctalen Same here.

  • @DrJamesHetfield You're so awesome for being 14...Is that what you wanted to hear?

  • @Unorthodox6391 .... Hehehe

  • @Unorthodox6391 i'm pretty sure he was just trying to make a point.

  • @DrJamesHetfield viva blue oyster cult band..an awesome album, with an amazing song..if memory doesnt fail me,this song is part of the sound track of an animated movie called:"Heavy Metal:The Movie"..and it is displayed in the last segment of the movie..it was an awesome movie indeed..lets hope this new generation enjoy this song as much as i did when i was their age

  • @DrJamesHetfield good point young man

  • @DrJamesHetfield i would agree but you love metallica =(

  • @JahJoJah don't worry, i'm a kid and i'll make sure my kids grow up listening to real music

  • @JahJoJah I'm 16 and rockin the Psychic Wars. But its true no one knows many of BOC's songs. Cities on Flame is a rare one to hear someone talk about, too.Their best songs are the least well known, I think though. Sole Survivor and Vengeance are probably my favorites by them.

  • @JahJoJah Actually, I'm 15 and Classic Rock is my favorite genre. AC/DC, Townshend, etc. Don't abandon hope

  • @Zasalamel49 So what you're 15, wanna fuckin' cookie?

  • @KyleJS30 Are you fucking serious, Kyle? All I'm saying is that people of my generation aren't ALL completely culture deprived. And how old are you, eh? Listen, I don't need any conflict. Sorry allright?

  • Comment removed

  • @JahJoJah i know what you mean,,i like the songs that most people dont talk about, they were underrated

  • @JahJoJah im 15 man and the classics are better then some of the gay as music to day i was born in the wrong time

  • @jmdudewhatsup94 there has always been trash music, ever heard of every decade?

  • They'll never do any songs sung by Bouchard bros.

  • There is just so much amazing material from this band that many have never heard! 'The Red and the Black', or how about 'ETI (Extra-Terrestrial intelligence)', 'Cities On Flame', 'Black Blade' or just the entire Agents Of Fortune album not just '...the Reaper'.

    Enormously underappreciated band.

  • Joan Crawford is also on this album, fantastic song. If you haven't heard Imaginos, you haven't heard what many believe to be the best 'metal' album of the 80's. You need to pickup Club Ninja just to hear 'Perfect Water' and 'Dancin' In The Ruins', both are great. 'Harvest Moon' is also worth a listen.

  • Maybe I'm getting old or is BOC that good that I would rather listen to them then look at porn on the internet.

  • This kicks ass.

  • I LOVE this song!

  • probably one of my favorite songs by them, can't believe it only has 40000 views thou

  • stil a fkin revelation

  • Oh man... It's seriously too bad that the producers of HM declined this song. It's awesome.

  • my favorite part is "i think im falling down in a deep, dark....hooooole".. i waited for that at a BOC show and some douche blabbed at that very moment. i had to kill him.

  • Saw BOC live then. They said they were going to do a movie soundtrack & the Merv Griffin show.

  • Do any of you even know what this song is about?

  • The album is based on the movie "Heavy Metal". Watch it & it might make sense.

  • Oh I've seen it, I was just seeing if anyone even knew the basis for the lyrics. Great movie, huh?

  • a fucking masterpiece

  • great rock band - unique style

    like the tempi change

  • love this song one of my favourite albums of all time

  • that cover creaps me out

  • sweet cover art. i'd love to own this LP.
