  • I loved the part about his tattoo, i'm a christian and have been wanting to get a tattoo that would glorify God, and had a deeper religious meaning. And seeing the story behind his i know what i'm going to get.

  • Thumbs up if they should change the title to "What Mike Donehey's Tattoo means." Cuz I've been looking for like ever :P

  • lol he looks good with glasses on

  • my brother has some tatoos he has one on his foot that says something like 4+6=7 one on each of his shoulders. thorns around one of his arms, and the one i really love is one of those mario riding yoshi which i think is so cute well i mean yoshi is anyways. i think the christian tattoos are good but i don't approve of covering your body with them or having bad ones but other than that i think they're fine.

  • i don't c what the problem is..Tattoos are fine for Christians. We are not under the law of the Old Testament, so those quoting from Leviticus about this, are wrong.

And the body is the temple is saying to avoid things like idolatry and sexual sins. It is not referring to tattoos or piercings in context. Christians have liberty in Jesus. Tattoos are fine. Personally I don't want a tattoo, I like my body as it is :)

  • Not to long ago my church did Tim Keller's Gospel in Life for Sunday School. Now we are doing something from Wayne Grudem. My church likes the ESV for the same reasons.

  • YES MIKE! i love the ESV! and i love your personality :) you are a fantastic example of the how to experience the joy of the Lord!

  • "we actually like each other! so we vacation together.." :)

  • yall are nerdy in a funny way its. its funny lol

  • okay, wow, i think its completely fine that Mike has a tattoo. it was of good intentions and its showing his love for our God. theres nothing wrong with that. its symbolic. dont judge because you dont agree with it. :)

  • despite what you WANT or think God said not to mark your body. Mike, you guys are awesome, but marking your body is against the bible. Maybe you just misunderstood the meaning of that verse.

  • @jujubees918 That verse is addressing Paganism. One big thing about reading the Bible is learning to read it in context. Once you read the verse in the context it is in, it can give it and ENTIRELY different meaning. So yes, the Bible says not to mark yourself, but it says it in regards to the Pagan practices. Also, read Romans 14 :) Hope this helps. God bless.

  • @guit4rplay3radam omg thanks that actually helped me :). god bless.

  • i love you guys and i love what God is doing through you all.

and i totally agree with tatoos, my parents each have one and my dads has a picture of a cross and says "done" and my mom's says iamnot. thats the short version of HeisIamiamnot. and many times my parents have explained what they mean to people and i think its a great thing to have, and a good conversation starter to talk about God.

  • nice tattoo hehe

  • @BFFL16 So does that mean girls can't pierce their ears to??? "Ye shall not make any CUTTINGS in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:28..If thats the case, girls don't receive a exemption card

  • @hoboskater691 For some reason, earings are ok(see ezek 16, YHWH puts ears on his bride. but yes, cuttings in our flesh is a sin, obviously.

  • @hoboskater691 yes you are right, all of it is paganistic.,nd it doesnt mean you will be sent to hell for it. but a tattoo is permanant and it can be like a holding point for sin. a constant reminder of a bad decision. and even if you claim "oh its a reminder that im for him. i am his,he is mine" your supposed to know that in your heart and show others with your life not your body. that goes for piercings, tattoos etc if that nature. old testament, new testament, if God said it that settles it.

  • @hoboskater691 Ezekiel 16:12 "And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head." I think that clears it up. If God Himself gave Israel their earrings then I'd say earrings are good.

  • @guitarawks09 THANK YOU!

  • reguardless if you have a "tatt" that says john 3:16 that doesnt change the fact that Jesus doesn't want us to MARK our bodies or put whole in our bodies.. it really doesnt matter about opinion in this case because you can either do as the lord say or do what you want

PLEASE PPL A QUICK TIP READ THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF & NOT ANYONE'S OPINION ABOUT ANY SUBJECT OR MATTER YOU WANT ANSWERS DO YOUR RESEARCH

  • Hey! What's your favorite movie?

  • I want that tattoo... It has a lot of meaning... haha. but Im only 14.... soo... haha

  • BFFL16 I appreciate your wisdom! Awesome words...!!! I encourage every one who "hath an ear" to heed the wisdom that is being dispensed!

  • @DrGraves21 thank you friend

  • of course i dont but lets be reasonable...how can two walk together except they agree...but the tatto...thats reasonable...do what god says before it to late...be safe than sorry and dont get one.

  • @BFFFL16 this has been an interesting conversation and i appreciate your insight :) i think that the tattoo is fun to debate about but in the end God cares more about where our heart is at and if we are serving others as Christ served us! i have done quite a bit of praying on the subject and dont feel as if God is convicting me of this so i will prolly get one in the near future. always good talking with my brothers in Christ! continue being a light. Matt 5:16

  • @BubbaAndTy talk to God again, sit longer than ur used to...cause i know God will not go against his own word...prayfully you hear the right voice friend. he who has an ear, let him what the spirit says to the churches revalation 2:7. Go with God and he will go with you.

  • Tattos aren't Biblical-God says not to mark our bodies...

  • @baaboo1 Tattoos are fine. I would never get one bcause I'm scared of pain. I don't think that God was speaking out against tattoos when he said "Don't mark your body" I think that Mike's tattoo in particular would please God very much. Did you not listen past the word tattoo? but seriously... he was right, someone did comment on tattoos being bad.

  • @RunningForYou17 No they are not fine according to the Bible and I didn't say that we all don't make mistakes-I was just pointing it out according to the Bible.

  • @baaboo1 I think you misunderstood. Maybe the Bible meant some other way of "marking" the body. Think about what was going on when that was written. At that time, many people practiced self mutilation as a sighn of mourning the dead. I wonder if you also beleive that marrying outside of your own race is bad too? You may be taking the Bible to modernly... I DO think the bible is for modern times but a few of those rules were meant for things that were going on at those times.

  • @RunningForYou17 I agree with you! The Bible was written in a different time period, even though much of it hold true today. We don't know what could have been lost in translation. A lot of rituals involving cutting yourself occured in those days.

  • @baaboo1 i totally agree with you

  • @guitarawks09 Thank you

  • The NIV or the KJV

these two are the closest to original languages

we must becarfule with the paraphrased versions

oh and tattoos well if God wanted us to have tattos

He would have created us with them

so tattoos just dont seem right.....

but God will have mercy on who He chooses to have mercy

  • BFFFL16 @rolle3rboi93 of course i go by the law of the WHOLE bible all christians are... the all things in its time are beautiful. but he who has an ear let him hear what the spirit is saying to the church...im not talking to the people who wont receive what im saying but who are in secret. those are the ones who will recieve power.

  • I think the tattoo is an awesome idea! It's a great reminder of everything God is!

On another note, I can't wait until your new album comes out!! Keep up the good work guys!!!

  • I don't see what the big deal is for some about the tattoo, i know lots of people who have them, they let people see Jesus through the way they act and how they carry themselves, while i know a lot of "holly rollers" who completely oppose it and once they leave church you couldn't tell that they have ever been, I think Jesus loves people with tattoos especially those who preach his word

  • I love that tattoo! I might go get one right now!

  • Love the tattoo, Mike! :D

  • BFFFL16 said "You shall not make any cuts on your body FOR THE DEAD or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord. leviticus 19:28" (emphasis mine). My thought to this was: It's a good thing our Lord Jesus is LIVING! I would never get a tattoo myself, but I certainly won't stop someone from setting Jesus Christ as a seal on their heart (Song of Solomon 8:6) or their arm, or leg, ankle, etc.

  • @AmyJoyH good for u...but the lord said no MARK! a tattoo is a mark no matter what it is...he is looking for a clean vessel with out spot or wrinkle ephesians 5:27 spiritually and physically. ur supposed to love jesus in your heart, thy word hid in my heart. u dont need a mark to show god , people or yourself you r commited to him...show it with your life you live.

  • You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord. leviticus 19:28

  • @BFFFL16 I've thought about getting a tattoo, and I've discussed this matter with my dad. We discussed how many people use this scripture against them. And even though my dad doesn't like tattoos, he has expressed to me that people use this scripture incorrectly. You have to understand culture and what life was like back then to understand scripture, especially the old testament. And back then, people tattooed themselves for other gods and spirits and etc.

  • @BFFFL16

So God was telling the Israelites to not follow what the other peoples were doing.

  • @loiralouca05 the bible is percise and to the point.the Lord said no MARK! a tattoo is a mark no matter what it is...he is looking for a clean vessel without spot or wrinkle ephesians 5:27 spiritually and physically. ur supposed to love god with your heart, thy word i hid in my heart. you dont need a tattoo or seal to show God, people, and yourself that you are committed to him. :-)

  • @BFFFL16 show it with your life you live.

  • @BFFFL16 If you change something and use it for God's glory it's alright. Paul said that eating meat sacrificed to idols is ok as long as u want to honor God. same thing with the Christmas tree. it has pagan origins but it's fine if we use it to celebrate God. same thing goes for the tattoo. if he wants to praise God with it, then i dont see anything wrong with it.

  • @adomarc no its not. its like taking dirt and eating it. its not good for you. its mixing the profaned with the holy. christians were never suppose to touch that stuff in the first place. we are set apart. but ya kno i think ppl dont want to take Gods law for what it is so they can do what they wanna do and protect unholy things for the sake of covering someones faults in high places.

  • @BFFFL16 we cannot accept bad behavior. its not the bible...no markings i am the LORD leviticus 19:28

  • Comment removed

  • @BFFFL16 eh i dont think its that big of a deal. im considering getting a tattoo myself so ive done a good bit of bible searching to help me make my decision. all of the rules against tattoos are in the old testament and frankly paul says we must not live by the law, but by the love of Christ. (galatians 5:1-12) paul says that if we are following the law then Christ died for nothing and he is of no value to us. i just think if its something that glorifies God then its totally fine

  • @BubbaAndTy i go by the whole bible like jesus intended.

  • @BFFFL16 like god intended

  • @BFFFL16 yes the bible was intended to be used to understand who God is and how we relate to him. but Jesus came to fulfill the law so that we no longer have to follow it..... there are over 600 laws in the old testament that are really impossible to follow today. do you ceremonially wash your hands? or leave town when you walk by a dead animal? if we are supposed to follow some of those laws we should follow them all. so is Paul just wrong in galatians 5?

  • @BFFFL16 read 1 Corinthians 8. remember. all the rules God put in place for us our for our own good. but if he wants to get a tattoo for God's glory, i dont see a problem with it. it's just probably unhealthy. that's y God doesnt recommend tattoos. people u guys need to stop living in the old testament and look at the grace

  • @adomarc hes not recommending hes sayin do not get them at all...he knows exactly whats good for us. he did not give us commands to break them. if the bible is recommending then y tell ppl hes the way if hes just giving good advice. anybody can do that...theres nothing good in our flesh...are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? romans 6:1

  • @BFFFL16 i love the way you explained that.. very true =)

  • @guitarawks09 check out christwinds its not a .com its a .org

  • Hey, that's awesome! I always wondered what his tattoo meant. And I like using ESV too!

  • I like your tattoo, especially what it stands for.

Can't wait to see you guys in concert again! Been to long.

    God Bless

  • I remember back at Winter Blitz 09 when I asked you about your tattoo! It was the first time I had ever heard about you guys and now you're one of my favorite bands! I can't wait til Newsong!

And I never got a journal thing at Winter Jam when I preordered. =[

  • I just love what your doing! You always have the most amazing and songs and the most powerful lyrics. Thank you so much for all that you do!

"And so, dear brothers and sisters I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him." -Romans 12:1

  • "All things belong to God including my elbow." :) i love how you guys can be so profound yet still have a sense of humor. I loved the song playing at the end of the video. Can't wait for the new record. All ready preordered it :)!!!
