  • All the lil young muthafuckers should hear and listen to this. Yes, I said lil muthafuckers. Lil low pants wearing ignorant bastards

  • Deep

  • @datajlzone are u crazily retarded obama is full of shit, hes basically fully fucked up the economy, screwed about with more countries that have nothing to do with him and silenced the occupy wallstreet movement. Sounds more like a warloard than a presidential government

  • Wow

  • rip so amazing

  • none needed.

  • this is true but will you also apologize for voting in the worse president to represent the black race.

  • @tvjustice2

I apologize for letting Pres Bush from 2001 to 2009 December to bankrupt this country, getting us into stupid wars and raping the American People by not voting at all Thank God we have Pres Obama in office now that has a brain and do a good job considering the Republican A-holes who like to take American people as hostage ( I.E.1st responders, Unemployment people, education, poor, the middle class, disaster relief and so on) Republican Terrorist who hold people hostage.

  • dude check ur vids. the sound is reg speed but the video is farrrr behind

  • Love it great video

  • The point of this poem is basically satire. There was a time in America that a black person could not stand up for themselves w/out the risk of being arrested and/or killed. We didn't have access to the rights and freedoms we take for granted and so friviously throw away, today. That's the stance from which this poem is delivered.

  • Incredible... Still as moved as tge 1st time I heard it.

@AnticolonialSettler: Good words, bro... Don't believe I could stated that better.

  • Oscar Brown is too much... a wise cat RESPECT

  • this is my brother, the truth i tell you , rest in peace

  • Mos Def is all kinds of sexy. Oscar Brown Jr. You the man. I totally dug this.

  • he was gooood! this is true satire :)

  • WHY DO Y'ALL HAVE TO HATE ON OTHERS TO SAY U LIKE HIM SHUT UP

  • @devore504 ^^^ #1 reason for youtube comment fights

  • @devore504 just agreeing

  • for bein free and fat! Lmfao!!!

  • holy shit this was awesome.i just watche the one with louis reyes rivera and i have 2 say old ppl are the best

  • Is there a CD with his spoken word poetry? - I could only find his music on Amazon. Much thanks for any help.

  • Can anyone tell me what the song at the start is please?

  • #DoBetter #think know your #History #Checkit

  • @1LiLG31 To me it sounds like people have been giving him shit over things that don't really matter , and he's tired of defending himself , so he apologizes. But maybe I'm the one missing the point ... it doesn't matter and if so .. I apologize :) just listen to the song , I think there's something useffull in it for all of us :)

  • @babo85 hes being sarcastic while at the same time summing up the African American experience in America from slavery until present. Its like saying when someone steps on your foot on purpose, " well excuse me"..you don't really mean it. Im sure there are others who could explain it even better than what I just did but I hope that was good enough...

  • @umsalmaan Yes , sarcastic was the word I was looking for :)

anyway , the song is great :)

  • @1LiLG31 people give black people crap for their features, and in history Americans went to Africa and took the people as slaves? I don't know if you were being serious or not...

  • @1LiLG31 Man ... you really missed the point didn't you?

  • @1LiLG31 eat a dick

  • What do you mean by "a completely different story in the media". The point of this poem is that if I am black--I stand accused and must therefore apologize. Come on, don't you see the one sideness of media reports?

  • @annodenak No? What in the fuck do black people apologize for?

  • @annodenak No? What in the f*ck do black people apologize for?

  • @AldousFurlong listen 2 wut he is sayin we blacks dont owe anybody a apology but every time u c us on tv its about a crime or something negative which then would want ppl 2 want a appology even though they display us like that alot of us r not

  • I appreciate the realness of this video. Black people have nothing to apologize for but the truth is--we are always apologizing.

  • @annodenak Really? I see a completely different story in the media.

  • is anyones video slower then the audio? dont matter though

  • one of my FAVES**

  • HELP US PUSH THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE AND LUST SPOKEN WORD-WATCH OUR VIDS AND SUBCRIBE-ITS CALLED INCEPTON

  • Why oh why is the video so slow now? or is it just my computer?

  • @matsamu naa mines doing the same ! ! is pissing me off omgg haha

  • @Athnamas2 Yeah, that's one of the reasons I like Performance Poetry, is because the performers MOVE and speak. He doesn't do a lot of moving, but that doesn't mean the stuff he does isn't important! And he just looks really cool doing it.

  • @Athnamas2 Yeah, that's one of the reasons I like Performance Poetry, is because the performers MOVE and speak. He doesn't do a lot of moving, but that doesn't mean the stuff he does isn't important! And he just looks really cool doing it.

  • @matsamu well for an old guy, he's doing a lot of moving and performing here. Did you feel like he should dance a jig for this poem? That'd be too much. That's about how a person would look and act saying that to someone in real life. And wasn't about him looking cool... don't miss the message. (about the computer. I don't think it's your computer. mine's doing the same)

  • @EricLFarrell Oh, no, i completely agree. I never meant that he's doing it just for cool points or just to move and speak/perform. He's doing something definitely important, and he's got a message. Trust me, I like this poem for the poem, for the message, for what feelings it invokes in it's audience. I'm just sad i can't see the performance that he's put together because of the video problems. I appreciate your concern!

  • @matsamu yeah, I tried to restart it a few times too cause I wanted to watch it, so glad you posted your question about video probs so I could realize it wasn't just me and my computer.

  • @matsamu I really wanted to see the part where he throws down his hat at the end

  • @matsamu I downloaded the video and converted it to see if it would work.. because I wanted to watch him as he spoke, too. So I uploaded it on my channel... looks like it's working so far haha, hopefully it stays that way

  • @killerkimm yay! :-D

  • well its about time someone apologized

  • Genius,he told the truth. He made satire and tragedy in a poem,as those two usually go hand in hand.

  • I made a mistake recently , A sin, A mistake, I changed my outlook, as the Lord guides me to having a "clean house" and the man said, "ohh no, don;t change it now" and I say "YES YES, change it now" If you think because you said or did something it thats who you are, or what you are for ever, its not . We won't even remember if we were black or white, tall or short, smart or "he has the brain of a rabbit" because it all will be forgotten . ephesians 5:1-11

  • the only reason this seems like hate is because the devil whispers it in your ear, "they hate you" , "there talking to you"......if you think there talking to you, they are talking to you! and if you see the LOVE that this is, Hate for that which is evil, then well, your there.

  • this deep

  • @ineedaname777777 of course, you don't think it has to do with you. That's what makes you so indignant. But you're wrong.

Don't ask whether you're at fault for past wrongs.

Ask yourself if you treat people differently and assume different things about them because of qualities out of their control. 2 X chromosomes? A dark complexion? No epicanthic folds? Watch what you assume, lest you prejudge others.

  • @silverskein My house is clean brother....It amazes me people don't see like we do, but we know they can't until the Lord is in there heart. I still think this kind of thing take's love down a notch, but it's still a form of love. Love in the way that we hate that which is evil, It's hard to get past what seems at first glance only hate, and hate in it's purest form can only be hated by a Christian. But it's NOT hate for a man, It's hate for what men have done, like a bird in a tree, I see

  • Are there any more works done my this awsome artist?

  • this man is so real...

  • this hits home

  • WHere did Mr. Brown get that Shirt!? I want it.

  • I think I saw this guy begging by a dumpster singing this stuff. i tossed him a mexican peso somebody ripped me of with.

  • Powerful

  • I love this

  • I wouldn't even respect it if a rapper wrote those exact words today. It's a slap in the face of our ancestors how we piss away the millions of opportunities they broke their backs to provide for us. And not just slaves, but seasoned cats like him and our grandparents.

  • thats some deep shit!!!!

  • The greatest lyricist who ever lived. Period. I was very lucky to see him perform live at the Green Mill in Chicago a few times during his final years. He was an absolute genius who deserves far more recognition than he ever received!

  • well said in a nice way

  • He's definately one of the greatest R.I.P Oscar Brown Jr.

  • Sometimes in life we tend to apologize for not doing anything wrong in the first place I feel you

  • this was deep...truthful...and everything else in between...

  • We need more Elders Like this Man right here ..Great Man RESPECT !!!!

  • This dude brings guys like Lil' Wayne to shame with his rapping.

  • A. MEN.

  • @BluUniverse For the fact that you just put Lil Wayne in the same sentence as someone like Oscar is disgraceful. I think you'll agree? It's sad Oscar's not here anymore =(

  • @BluUniverse I dont think you should try and blame him. Rappers dont rap non sense for no reason, they do it for the money and fame. And as you talk about Lil Wayne's rapping who fault is it that he's getting rich off us...we like it(ARE YHU MHADD)..! Lil Wayne was actually in college before he went to jail, could you say that about anyone else. I hate that everyone always talk about the bad someone do until they die, then its only the good stuff..! Do yhu realize Dat every1 have good and bad.!

  • Comment removed

  • @BluUniverse stop putting lil wayne on good things everyone on here knows that lil wayne is acorporate toy saying that doesn make smarter or whatever is now a trend to say lil wayne disses pn good music or videos. we all know say something relevant man sorry to vent just sick of lil wayne soula boy disses like that is new

  • @BluUniverse so true so true

  • what a legend, am def proud to be from the same city as this man

  • This redefines sarcasm.

  • WHOA!!!!...amazing

  • DAMN! i just fell out of my chair. Oscar Brown Jr. blew me away again, man.

  • @townhouse1 you are such an ignorant ass... Poetry is a way to express your feelings... And believe it or not racisim still affects people who aren't white so we have to express it...y r u so annoyed? R u a racist? Hmmm?

  • Aw! That was great!!!

  • wow i got goosebumps watching this simply amazing ! R.I.P OSCAR BROWN JR WE WILL MISS YOU !

  • you sir are an idiot for hating black people then watching a black man perform perfection then you waste your time typing a comment. why watch if you hate black people ? idiot

  • in most normal circumstances i do not reply to such ignorance but when its presented in front of me with such blatant disregard for others i feel i must reply. Allow me to school you on a little history. Did you the counrty you live in was mostly built by blakc people and yet you have the audacity to sit there and think that you are superior. I would like you to know that whites are no longer the majority and that minorites out number them. we'd just revult and guess who im coming after. You

  • @sometimesifall well since the minorites are gonna outrun the majorities well then we have a lot of cheap labor to work with. You know, Sometimes I Fall should now be Sometimes I Fail.

  • Happy Black History Month!!

  • not accepted, this shit is crazy and is the reason i like poetry. j/k bout not accepting peace

  • The sad part our old people are nowadays have no wisdom. They are too busy trying to prove they still have it by being sexy or old men wearing braids and chains. We need older people like this.

  • @umsalmaan I couldn't agree with you more....

  • @umsalmaan the thing is that him being as old as he is now means he grew up in a different era; a different mindset. you expect black seniors today to understand just EXACTLY what he's talking about? of course not.

I agree, we need people like this, but don't talk shit about the old generation that we got, maybe if you spent some time with them you would see they can be just as wise as this guy, just in a different way. don't be such a wanker.

  • @umsalmaan why u can't have wisdom wearing braids bitch my brother wear braids and he is not old but I know he has more wisdom than you fuck face

  • @devore504 Maybe he does, but some reactive angry comment like that doesn't do him or the notion of wisdom any justice at all.

  • @umsalmaan you are completely right we do need more old people like this but older people now was the generation that don't wanna be old

  • man he is great and have true story to tell us about his life and the past................. we should to have more respect for older people everywhere in the World even the World make one crazy man !!!
