Very good videos; thank you for these! I think that Westerners often have a hard time understanding that equality does not necessitate a confusion of gender roles. You did an excellent job in these videos of addressing that terrible misunderstanding.

How can u submit to men? A women is to submitt to God and if she is married to her OWN husband. I chuckle when I hear the question. I'm Baptist and my church firmly believes that men should lead the worship as the Bible says. Thank you for sharing I've watched several of your videos. Many Blessings!

I appreciated your presentation very much, you are a very wise young lady! As you may know, the Orthodox church has actually historically included a female Deaconate, which has unfortunately died out for a variety of circumstances. However, there is no doctrinal or canonical objection that I know of for its restoration; something to pray on at the dawn of a new millennium!

@Pawnz0r there is a small, but growing movement in the OCA to restore the female Diaconate, granted it is small and is mostly talked about, but I wonder what would happen if a woman would petition the Synod or Met Jonah to be Ordained into it. I personally think it is inevitable.the outreach they could do to the women could be incalculable. especially in the large OCA parishes such as St Nicholas in NY or St Stephen in Phila, I know St Stephen Cath has two Liturgies/altars on Sunday Slav & Eng

It is so unfortunately that you feel that Western Christianity reduces women. I have been a Christian for 26 yrs, and I have not yet had such an experience. (pretty-pretty-pink & pastels???) Most academically inclined Orthodox females, have to use their leadership ability outside of the church, i.e. seminary professors (teaching both men & women). Study early church history, and you will find females serving in the diaconate role.

@HJKelley47 The role of deaconesses was similar, but not equivalent, to the role of deacons. The purpose of the order of deaconesses was to minister to women in situations in which the ministering of a male might be suspect in the ancient world, such as for baptisms (which were done in the nude in ancient times) and behind closed doors. The order of female deacons died off in the later Middle Ages largely because social norms had changed and it was no longer necessary.

Hello Sister, I was wondering what you feel is better about an Orthodox church than a Protestant church. I have never been to an Orthodox church and as I get older I like Protestant churches less and less. Of coarse I don't want to judge. This is just a personal preference.

in fairness, many Orthodox women do NOT wear head coverings and most local Churches (even old calendar) do NOT have men sit on the left side and women on the right side (which they should be doing). Often the converts are more zealous for these traditions, which is slightly frustrating, because than the cradle laity are less inclined to follow their example...The Latin Catholic Church has a similar phenonomenon, more converts going to Latin Tridentine Mass there, than the english vatican II mass

Anna, do you answer questions addressed to you? Why as a Christian do you wear a muslim looking hijab, when there are so many coverings to go with?

Muslims do not have the corner on "hijab" or veiled which cover the neck. Eastern Orthodox ladies also wear headscarves in a similar style when in services.

Wow! This is the first time that I've seen your youtube channel, but it's really fascinating! I am a college-age committed Christian from a more contemporary Protestant background. Within the last year I have definitely changed to a much more modest approach to dress, and two weeks ago I attended an Orthodox service for the first time. Is there anything else (besides the different treatment of women in the church) that has especially surprised you while you've been studying Orthodoxy?

Great videos. I like your perspective and agree with it.

Being Orthodox also. Men and Women are equal like you say, just have different roles assigned by God, and it blesses a woman to cooperate with God in her place.

Take the most Holy Theotokos for example, she helped make the Incarnation possible, and through one of the woman's primary role--motherhood. It is one of the very high callings for women, just a different calling than for men.
