can i face this cooler in any four directions when i install it on my cpu? It looks huge. I'm trying to make sure it stays clear of my memory slots, which are already in use
I got a p5q pro in an antec 900 case with 4 gigs of corsair dominator memory with a cooling fan mounted on them.
Usually it's best to point them sideways so they exhaust out of the back but since you have an antce 900, there's a top fan and you can make it face towards that instead. don't know how the stock fan will do but aftermarket ones are preferred
what temperatrures o you gtet with that then at idle and underload cus i have an e8400 and am looking to overclock and need new cooler, would you recommend it meinstead of the akasa ak925?
34-36c idle but i live in vancouver. i get about 55-58 load. i highly recommend xigmatek hdt-s1823 or ocz vendetta 2 which are HDT and cools very effectively.
when you say you live in vancouver are you saying it is hotter there or something so it will make that hotter cus i live in england and dont no america very well
it's hotter. it's on southwest of canada / northwest of seattle. our summers are very hot and i haven't had a chance to see what temps my E8400 pumps out during mid summer.
I don't think you are "wasting" TOO MUCH. If you need guides on OCing, just PM ME. For FPS boost, you won't gain noticable frame rates if you OC to 3.6Ghz - you will notice the improvement on apps like Sony Vegas or Photoshop.
you know what i just finnaly got my cable management done. It is tricky routing the 24pin mobo connector around the back. I will make a video if i can. The back side panel does go on but barely. I didnt have any duck tape but i only used scotch tape to hold the cables down. lol.

Was getting about 37c idle, around 65c full load. Asus P5Q Pro is the motherboard and the heatsink is a Xigmatek

I also have a zigmatek HDT S1283 on my E8400, but I feel like I'm wasting it because I don't know how to OC my CPU.
Do you think I cold get a significant fps boost in my games if I can boost my E8400 from 3.0ghz to 3.6ghz?
